9 Things to Get Your Kitten Used to

In this video I talk about 9 things to get your kitten used to. These are my own personal recommendations and these are all things we did repeatedly when our cats were kittens. Albus and Luna are still kittens so we are still training them to get used to these things. Whether you get a new kitten or an older cat, it's never too late to teach them to get used to things. The key word is consistency (and patience). The more you do these things with your kitten, the easier it will be to do them when they get older.

I would add touching their paws, their ears, lifting their lips to see their teeth and other such manipulations that vets will do so that the cat doesn't freak out because it's never happened to him before

i found my kitten outside he ran up to me & hes 10 weeks old. i am trying to get him used to being in a carrier but every time he’s inside he starts to cry & when he’s in the car too. he is just a wild cat at heart and loved the outdoors but i want to train him to be inside too

They need to get used to the fact that I will kiss them. I used to do that from day one n they’d follow me around, which resulted in more kisses!

#3 "Getting Baths" made me giggle ... My 13 year old hyperventilates, and so his groomer dry bathes him with warm pads. #7 "Being in a carrier" 😹😹. I have to chase both cats before appointments. Another awesome episode. Thank you Luna 😻.

Great video! I really missed your calming voice! It's great you underlined the priorities! Your mother gave you a great suggestion! Max is being with us for four days now and he's doing great, except for ruining my plants and I can see he is becoming interested in cables. So, I hurried to buy citrus sprays and sprayed all of the critical spots, we'll see how it's going. Altogether, he is very relaxed, more than we are.😺😺😺

We don't like to tell people where to get their cats from because it's not our business. Everyone has different lifestyles. We support both adopting from shelters and buying from reputable breeders. You probably won't find a purebred Maine Coon in a shelter though.
