I live in Phoenix, born and raised in Pittsburgh. I've been in Phoenix for a couple of decades where I'm a carpentry contractor. I feel obligated go say I've been in Mexico countless times. From simple border trips to weeks long vacations. I have never had a single problem there. I love the country and I'm considering retirement there. Hi! I'm gonna agree wholeheartedly with you my friend. I pretty much have exactly the same experiences there. I'm in Corpus Christi, TX. A few years ago a close friend (60 y.o. then) made a trip back to his birth place, Valle Hermosa, Mexico. When he was down there he was stopped by some guys and basically kidnapped for ransom. They wanted $2,000 to release him. He talked them into settling for the $600 he had in cash and the stereo out of his newish Suburban. He had talked about taking me down there to check it out. I'm pretty glad he didn't. And he's Mexican!

Because it's pretty and actually has its own culture lady. The main city (federal district), rivals some of the best city's in the US in my opinion. At the very lest least, it's waaay better and cleaner than modern day LA. It's not saying much when even Mexico, with a corrupt government and fucked up infrastructure it may have, can rival a country 5 times it's size. That being said as a blue collar american, I'd choose it as a place to retire, since Ill actually be able to afford it

Things like this happen all over the US. These are just cautionary true stories but that should not stop you from seeing the world but be smart when traveling. For us in the US we are so scared of Mexico because they are our neighbors and have so many illegals.
