I think that cat mascot is going to be my new sleep paralysis demon.

These commercials from 1990 are not only great to see again, but were a big part of my childhood. Everything from toys, cereal, food snacks, & video games. This volume reminds me that I had a great childhood indeed, especially as a 7-year-old kid in 1990. Thanks for these 😊

That Tetris commercial is so iconic love it one of my favorites. I love the kid fist pumping after clearing two lines on level 2 lol. Great batch.

With the arcade game having hit the previous year from when these commercials aired and the first live action movie about to come out, this video definitely represents the peak of TMNT mania.

It only took 34 years for somebody to beat Tetris for NES and make it to the killscreen.

Animal Crackers Pet Centers- Seeing that this pet store shares a name with a snack food, someone who didn’t know better would be disappointed to find that the animals in this store are not of the edible variety. 13.Cinnamon Toast Crunch- Flour looks more like steam than smoke when thrown down on the table like that in this commercial, I’ve noticed.

As good as Nintendo Tetris is, the Tengen version for NES is absolutely better, due to a two player mode. Sadly, due to a legal dispute between Nintendo and Atari, the Tengen version had to be pulled from shelves.
@Panzer839 ай бұрын
The Tengen version of Tetris also has great music compared to the Nintendo version. All in all, both versions are good in their own right.

FunHouse airing at 730 in the morning is kind of early for such a popular show. I remember in my area it aired around 4 in the afternoon.

Same with my affiliate in the Bay Area...it was on right after school ended, either 3:30 or 4 PM.

@@80sCommercialVault So your area the air usual reruns after cartoons like Silver Spoons and Different Strokes?

Yes, both of those shows aired around 4-5 PM on different channels.

I agree Double Dare was better, but Fun House was entertaining. My sister and I have an episode of it on an old VHS. It's a special celebrity episode, featuring (I think) Danny Pintauro and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Man 1990 was kind of an extension of the 80s. 90s culture hadn't started quite yet. A lot of these commercials are carry overs from the 80s. Basically, my point is that the 80s hadn't quite left commercials yet, and I think it would be a couple more years before that would happen. I was about 2 years old when these commercials were airing on tv.
@Silvergun_Raven8 ай бұрын
I agree, but that is what happens with every decade; I feel like the 90's actually started showing itself in commercials around, like, 1993? I know many will probably disagree, but even with the early 00's, it still felt like the late-90's.
@80sCommercialVault8 ай бұрын
IMO by 1992 the 90's had essentially gained their own identity and were no longer an extension of the late 80's. Many cite "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and the rise of grunge/alternative rock in late '91/early '92 to essentially mark the end of the 80's in pop culture.
@andrejg41368 ай бұрын
There is always a couple of years of lag when the last of the popular things from the previous decade filters out of culture and are replaced with things that are inevitably associated with the current decade. Like, the 2010s didn't feel as such until like 2012 at the earliest.
@NintenPizza4 ай бұрын
@@80sCommercialVault I hated that grunge stuff. I was a much bigger fan of the synth pop from the mid to late 80's. Technotronic was also great back in 1990, including MC Hammer etc etc. The tail end of the 80's definitely trickled into 90 & 91, and maybe 92. 93 was when the 90's really started to have it's own identity. Unfortunately, the 90's went down hill quickly in 96. Pop culture was pretty much dead by the very early 2000's.
@80sCommercialVault4 ай бұрын
I don't really feel like arguing this stuff because it's all subjective, but for me personally, 1992 absolutely felt "different" than 90/91 and IMO pretty much all cultural spillover from the 80's died that year.

I keep seeing cheerios commercials with that o dude, but he's so obscure I can't even find information on him on wikipedia, everything just pretends like the cheerios bee has always been the mascot since day one. Who is that mysterious mascot? Were the cheerios people so embarrassed by him they eliminated him from record or something?
@80sCommercialVault9 ай бұрын
The Cheerios Bee is only the mascot for Honey Nut Cheerios. This other mascot was short lived and may have only existed in their ads for 1990.
