When I go in to use a new brush, I use a dot of dish soap and wash them under lukewarm water. (Hot water can loosen the glue that holds bristles in place, just as much as leaving your brushes in water for extended periods of time.) Manufacturers generally starch the brushes so they don't fan out or get damaged in shipping and storage. Hopefully that helps❤❤

For markers open both ends and use them for a few strokes at least once a year and store them on their sides (horizontally not vertically) that keeps most of them working fine. You can mark marker refresh day on your calendar.Vermillion is a bright red-orange. Be careful of old historic paints as they are even more likely to use heavy metals and dangerous ingredients. However the higher the quality of modern supplies the more likely the ingredients are dangerous so look into it and be careful. Try not to touch paint when you can and rinse off paint you get on your hands a.s.a.p. I know for example that historical vermillion was made with mercuric sulphide and thus had active and dangerous mercury in it that is still toxic if touched when wet or even when dry. So... yeah still use the supplies but take precautions. Also many modern chemicals are not properly tested they are assumed safe.... anyway. Fun video and great concept. Get any Cheeto gold take long brush. Canadian dollar stores and Walmart, etc actually have great brushes for cheap. If a brush is bad toss it and use a better one. White takalon is great too for precision use natural hair for wet techniques only. The old reeves seem more high grade. That brush is bad and the paint is more caked so their is more low quality filler. However depending on your style you make prefer different paints. But that brush is just not workable. Fun video great job.

I've always been more protective of sketchbooks than actual art supplies. Especially if they're the 'fancy' ones. Within the last few months, I wanted to get out of that. So I bought these really nice hardcover sketchbooks, have been sticking stickers all over them (I would use to try and keep the outside of sketchbooks pristine O.o ) and have just been trying new arts, new techniques and such, reminding myself that this is what a sketchbook is for (even 'fancy' ones), it's not going to be a masterpiece every page, you can doodle too. ❤❤❤

The old paints seem to activate more like tube paints. I regularly use Reeves tube paints and the Reeves red tin with the dry cakes, and I like them both. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the paints in the red tin; they just need to be hydrated a little more than the tube paints, and were intentionally designed to work like this. I love to use a medium Pentel water brush with the Reeves red tin paints. Together the Reeves red tin and water brush are a great travel set. You can mix the paint from the red tin in the lid of the red tin. The paints will not look chalky if you dilute them correctly. If you apply several washes or use too small of a brush for the area you are painting the result might look chalky. You both make nice video together, and your artwork is really nice!
@Safirentwiluea6 жыл бұрын
Hey!! I have seen a good quality wooden boxes from reeves. It's just that they focus on tubes rather than pans now. So I recon the options are quite limited if you are searching for a reeves watercolour pans set.

There's a lot of budget watercolour paints that are packaged under different names but probably all come out of the same factory as the paint cakes look identical. The old ones might be made with pigment but the new paints could be dye based.

Thinking with watercolors, with your host, Smug Lad Adam. :)) Also Steph, speaking of Netflix series that are strangely engaging, try Terrace House! Literally they just put have people try living in a house together but in general go on about their daily lives. You also have hosts that comment on the progress of the people living inside, and they have a fun dynamic with each other. Pretty simple, but fairly engaging. Give it a try! :)
