I am bowling in a league (non-sanctioned) where we get a ball, bag and shoes once we paid our fees, and this was one of the balls that I was able to choose from. I used this review to make my decision and chose this ball. The other 2 options I had were the Roto Grip Idol Cosmos and Storm Infinite Physix. I liked how I will be able to play this ball between 10 and 16 and it will still get through the pins. I am 2 handed guy, and thought this would fit better in my bag than that other 2 options. Thanks JR!! Love your reviews!!

I have a Cosmos and dont care for it, this is a better choice IMO. Infinite would be great to add to this in the bag I would think

I used my GEM in Iowa State and I hit it with the 4K fast, it was the best for the Team event (711) and then we changed houses for the doubles/singles I shot 719 for doubles. For singles I found that I needed to change to my Zen for 644. The only real issue was a couple of missed 7 pins (60 year old left hander), other than that a few splits one being the pocket 7-10. So, I am curious to know that if hitting the Soul with the 4K fast might help or just leave it out of the box for the Ozarks Open?

Drilled and threw mine Wednesday. Daaaaaaaang it’s a great ball. I love mine at 3K over the 4K out of box, but even still the ball is definitely insane.

What kind of motion did you see with 3k? More hook?
@nicksmith89932 жыл бұрын
@@sulemagutierrez a tad earlier, helped control the friction response, but still continuous. Love mine the more I throw it at 3K.

Went 50X4.5X30 with mine. Had to put surface on it to get it rolling sooner to control the backend and it worked really well. Would definitely recommend that.

Awesome review, JR! How about a comparison video between the Zen Soul and the Hammer Scorpion? A battle of the hybrids from the 2 major companies in bowling!

How much do you attribute that "sickness" to the fact you are on a different higher friction surface and the fact that Soul is 2 parts pearl? Looked like you had the Power Torq Pearl on the ball return there. Curious to see what it does compared to this Soul.
@vance8362 жыл бұрын
Turns out it isn’t the PTP but the Black Pearl Treasure. They look almost identical on the rack if you don’t see the white in the cover.

JR, is this out of the box finish on the cover stock or did you change the surface? I would assume it's out of the box since it's a review. Love your reviews by the way.

Hey JR, love your videos, have been very helpful to a guy who is just now getting back into bowling after 20+ year hiatus. Question: Are the Venom Shock and Zen Soul different enough to have both in my bag? I bought the Shock as my first new ball back and have already had some very surprising games with it (202, 256, 222 within the last few weeks) but want to start building around it and am currently not preferential to one brand.

pre-ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to try it. Think I'll go with something pretty neutral like a 50 x 4 x 40 or so. thinking i should keep the same layout as my altered reality

Ehats 50 x4 x40 mean
@optionizerss4511 Жыл бұрын
@@CptJman I went with 60 x 4.5 x 40. Thats the dual angle layout on the ball. You need to know your PAP (positive axis point) to lay out a ball properly. Generally the higher the first angle the earlier the ball will start reading the lane and the last angle is how quick, or snappy, the hook is at the end of the oil. The middle is your flare. Typically a higher number (distance from pin to PAP) the less flare. Google dual angle layouts to learn more
