They " HAD " to discontinue the Kronos ??
@hificomicsАй бұрын
Right? I still love my Kronos. I'd be curious to know why he said around the 16:20 mark that they "had to discontinue" the Kronos. I briefly had a Nautilus and Kronos at the same time, but kept only the Kronos because I loved the larger screen and more tactile controls/interface. The Nautilus is a nice board and offers good value, I suppose, especially when compared to Montage and Fantom (for example). But, I would love to see them advance the tech and give us back an updated true flagship. Modern processor, new sound engine or two, and please please an updated keybed since the RH3 is like 15+ years old (how about give us triple sensors, better key texture, more usable aftertouch, etc.)
@ZTAudioАй бұрын
@@hificomics I can offer some possible insight. The Kronos employed a relatively low powered (by today’s standards) Intel Atom CPU and associated motherboard and chipset. The Atom architecture seemed like a very good way to go at the time, as it was plenty powerful for what Korg wanted to do, and was expected to be on the market for a long time. The Atom CPU line is no longer available, so Korg had to upgrade to something more recent … and more powerful. The extra horsepower opens up some possibilities that were not feasible with the Atom CPU.
@hificomicsАй бұрын
@@ZTAudio Thanks, and interesting. But now I'm more confused - if they indeed discontinued the Kronos largely because of the Atom CPU issue, why did they continue to use it for the Nautilus? Several google results say the Nautilus is still using an Intel Atom. Or maybe those are wrong? What is the Nautilus using I wonder. Curious! :)
@ZTAudioАй бұрын
@ Well, now I’m stumped and/or confused myself. AFAIK, Intel stopped making the Atom right around the time I stopped working for Intel … 2016 or thereabouts.

I love Korg’s mental gymnastics marketing to claim it’s a revolution to have old sounds on this new bad keyboard that is even worse than the Kronos that was already an outdated underpowered Intel Celeron computer running Linux… the User Interface is stuck in the ‘90s, using MB of sounds when you can get sound libraries with GB of sounds… even TB of sounds for big bundle such Komplete Ultimate. I know there’s always an interest into using old sounds into new productions, but we can already do that for over a decade with Korg Collection… Also, if you need to add a small controller on top of your keyboard to control your sounds, it means your keyboard is badly designed… it lacks faders, pads and so on. Korg really falls behind, they haven’t innovate anything for over 15 years now.
