Hi Jessie and a belated Happy New Year to you. So excited to get stuck into 2022 in the home garden this year with your virtual help along the way. Looking forward to your up-comming road trips too and as you're heading to Scotland it would be awesome if you could drop in and see Rosa and James at Tap ^O Noth Farm, now that would be a fun vlog for sure. Still loving what you do Jessie and I hope everyone has a great year, both in and out of the garden.

I went out to my garden on New Year's Day to take a inventory of what I needed to do. I decided to stop after I had written down 20 items. Maybe they'll all get done, but some of them at least will be done by someone else. I have arthritis in my knees, so I can't dig and can't climb, so the pruning of the top of the fruit trees and the digging of a new path will be farmed out. Then, if the lumber is not too dear, I will have someone make raised beds for me so I can sit on their sides and tend my plants. Per my usual, I bought too many seeds and now I have to find places to put them all. I envy your carrot. I have had such bad luck growing them in the ground that I sowed them in 5 gallon buckets of compost this year. They're still tiny, but I'm hopeful!

Happy New Year Jessie to you and your family! WOW so Mum's a Sydneysider! She's not missing anything at the moment as we are having a La Nina summer - lots of rain and overcast days but at least it's not stinking hot and everything's lush and green. And curly parsley - I bought a very sad little pot for 50 cents (discounted), split it up, good soil, lots of water - couldn't give it away fast enough to keep up with the growth - and yes, it's DELICIOUS, and tasted as good as flat leaf parsley! You're right - it's a fashion things and we are all lemmings! Cheers back from North Parramatta / Oatlands (what suburb is mum from?) and all the best for 2022!

So funny, I am reading Entangled Life as well, a gift from my partner for Christmas. Love it, got reading and realised how important the notes and the bibliography are, so reading it again. How treasured the soil beneath our feet is. I would like to put up a do not disturb sign but to be realistic, no dig and minimal soil disturbance is good for our earth and the plants that grow within, By not disturbing our soil so much we are reducing carbon emissions. How intricate the web of life is?

Happy New Year Jessie :-). I've probably missed the question train but just in case, I've got a bunch - although hopefully someone got similar questions in on time if not :-).. What proportion of your fruits/veggies/eggs are you able to grow at your allotment? Is there anything you grow you think you'll never have to buy at your local Tesco (or wherever) again? Did you ever consider attempting a degree self-sufficiency as an option, if only for some things? Do you intentionally save seed from everything you grow (where sensible - obviously not from hybrids) or actively clone/propegate your own plants year to year where this is a better option? TIA and best of luck with growing in 2022 :-).

Cheers Jessie. Happy New Year to you. I was waiting for you to say "ehh, wats up doc" while chomping on that carrot. I remember the seed sowing and questions last time. I remember it as you spent more time answering questions and forgetting you were meant to be sowing. Take care and have fun.
