The first video I ever saw of yours was in an interview with Richard Hall (which I’m a huge fan) about your statement analysis of Kate and Gerry McCann. I learned so much from it. It was one of the most fascinating interviews I’ve ever seen. I’ve even saved it in my favorites library. Your analysis of parents of kidnapped children is amazing. My husband and I were attending a world famous auto race with our children. It was the first and the last time we did because of the traumatic experience we had. Our children were 7 and 5 years old. Our oldest son, was a difficult child, to say the least (and whatever analysis you come up with about that is probably right on target). Anyway, we all went to the restroom before the race began....he went with his father in the men’s, I took his younger brother with me into the women’s. So, my husband told the oldest boy “If you come out of the restroom before us, stand right here against this wall and wait. Don’t walk away, just wait for us. We’ll be out when we’re done. Do not leave.” You can already figure out what happened. Our son was the first one out, didn’t see us waiting by the wall he was told to stand in front of. He thought we left him so he runs away trying to find us. It was one of the most agonizing 30 minutes of my life. We went back into the restrooms several times thinking he was still there, looking under toilet stall doors trying to find his feet. He wasn’t there. I panicked and started crying and screaming “He’s gone! Please, help us find our little boy!” All I could think of was where is he? Did somebody take him? Is he hurt? What will they do to my little boy? Is he crying? He has to be so afraid! Is he panicked....where’s my mom and dad? Where are they? My brain jumped to conclusions I never thought possible! My husband grabbed track security and told them what happened. I was stopping kids with their parents and asked if they saw my little boy. It never occurred to me that they didn’t even know what I was talking about. I was just desperate to find him. The more time that went by, the more panicked and distraught I became. You can’t imagine the immense relief I had when track security had my son up under his arm like a sack of potatoes, screaming, kicking his feet and flailing his arms wildly! I thanked the track security guy profusely and then hugged my son. But, hardly skipping a beat, my husband and I got down right in his face and said “Don’t you EVER do a thing like that ever again! We thought somebody had stolen you and done terrible things to you! Don’t ever scare us like that!” I still get a knot in my stomach when I think about it. That was when he was 7. He’s now 42! You never stop worrying about your kids.

I lost my daughter at the zoo. Didn't know where she was for 10 terrible minutes. The thoughts through my head! "Do I remember what she is wearing? I'm never going to see her again! Only terrible people take children, what terror is she experiencing?" Well, turns out she was safely looking at some animals with one of my friend's children at our latest stop, and because that friend and I had several children to keep track of, we didn't notice she wasn't with us after we were a few feet away from said exhibit. We hadn't even reached the next exhibit! I took longer to find her because I was asking everyone in my path about her and DEMANDED zoo personnel help me find her. (The zoo personnel I encountered were too young to realize how serious the situation could have been.) I wasn't thinking about how I should protect my reputation. I was thinking that I had failed as a mother and I couldn't be certain I correctly remembered what she was wearing and that no helpful stranger would be able to find her without a proper description. BESIDE myself! I didn't care that a few young zoo personnel were snickering. I wanted a GROWN-UP, a police officer... and then I found her. That was 7 years ago. My heart starts beating fast just thinking about it. Losing one's child is... words cannot describe the extent of the hysteria, horror, and desperation I felt. Fortunately, my daughter felt none of these things. She was having fun! She turned around, never realizing I had even left. I told her I had left thinking she with me. She said, "But Mommy, I kept my friend safe!" At seven years old, she was already a hero. I am so proud of her. It was my job to keep her with me, and I clearly made what could have been the biggest mistake in her young life. At the same time, she did what she thought of as her job, she kept her younger friend with HER! Wow! I am SO proud of her! I am truly lucky she is my daughter. Also, truly lucky that she is safe.

It's amazing how much detail you remember and how the trauma can still evoke a response from your nervous system. I got a knot just imagining having a child and then going thru what yall went thru. When I impose your reaction and that of Kate McCann...night and day. I never saw her act how you and myself or any normal person would act. They both,like Peter would eventually say, have already processed her death. I would have told the cops get out of my way and went walking everywhere to find my child. She just wanted to do interviews and then say how you can never trust a dog's nose that's trained and bred for tracking and identifying particular things. So glad y'all found your kid back then.

They ended up being fully cleared, exonerated! Police & Detectives botched this investigation from the get go. The police never secured possible crime scene or make sure any potential evidence wasn't tampered?with, lost due to ongoing traffic all over their home. Police and detectives refused to believe or check into tips that didn't go with their theory and mindset from the get go that the Ramseys must have done this. Myths about noone being able to physically crawl through that small window were debunked and demonstration showed it was possible. Etc..etc..etc.. people have been falsely accused- Steven Truscott, Paul Morin, On and on and on. Most cases I believe the people are guilty ( Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias, the Groves, etc.. The Ramseys did not kill their little girl. I still actually believe the little girl's uncle was involved or two people who knew the family and abused the little girl over time and eventually killed her. ( Santa ) possibly he visited her in her bedroom and not in say the kitchen or living room- ODD to me. The uncle spokesperson appeared guilty to me and appeared to be in duping delight while giving us updates. My own speculation and opinions but yes if they were cleared exonerated a couple of years back how then are they guilty when they were cleared/exonerated?

I once had to make an emergency call. I was one of the first persons on the scene of a major car crash. Several people were severely injured. I remember saying in the call that there was a car crash, people were really hurt and help needed to come RIGHT NOW! The need for having ambulances arrive as soon as possible was huge, every second felt so long and people were lying there bleeding and in shock. The only thing that mattered for me was for the ambulances to come as soon as possible.

Thanks for posting this. Fascinating and informative. It's great that you mentioned the emergency number for the UK -999 ( also 112 which is the European number and reduces the number of mis-dials on push button phones). Many years ago I worked for BT which provides emergency telephone operators who initially filter the calls onto the appropriate emergency service. There was always a mandatory script for the operators: Emergency , which service? Do you need Fire, Police or Ambulance? If the caller didn't respond you would pass the call onto the Police and let them decide how to deal with the emergency call. Many times I received mis-dialled calls and automated Fire alarm calls from a machine with a voice recording giving the address of where a fire alarm had been triggered. A few times I dealt with very distressed mother's who had found their child face down in water , as I waited for the Ambulance services to answer and take the call ( you would wait for a reply on the primary number for 30 seconds and then try the secondary number for 30 seconds then the tertiary etc... until the call was answered by the required service). I also had an emergency call from a man who had been stabbed in the chest by a woman he met in a night club and even someone who had died in a phone box ( booth) whilst waiting for the emergency services to attend. But you never knew what happened to the people who you dealt with. I certainly don't remember anyone using distancing language or talking in the strange manner you are describing when they had called for an Emergency service.

I like following your logic. It's very informative. Thank you. I would like to say that the word "we" might come into play because the caller is viewing the home as a family domicile. I've always considered my wife and myself as a single entity. Once she fell down the stairs while inebriated and I could not get her to respond. It scared me to death. I called 911 and said "We need an ambulance. My wife just fell down the stairs and she is unconscious " To me that meant that I'm going with her to the hospital. I agree the word "we" could be a marker, but not in all cases. You did mention the notion that a husband and wife might be together. I agree completely with "we have a missing child." Whoa! There is absolutely no concern for the child in that statement.

Regarding 911 calls, there was something Alex Murdaugh said when he called in to say he had found his wife and son dead. It's a small detail but to me it was both a red flag and an insight into his personality. After he gave his address the dispatcher asked if it was a house or a trailer. When he responded "It's a house" you could hear the change in tone and inflection. I thought he sounded irritated and insulted, not frantic. It came across as 'I don't live in a trailer' or 'Don't you know who I am? How dare you think I live in a trailer'. What struck me about that reaction is that if he was innocent and had really just found his wife and son dead, I don't think he'd have the mindset to process a perceived insult and react to it. It just sounded different than if his irritation had been consistent and about how fast they could get there. That's many people's reaction when calling 911. They are irritated about being asked so many questions because they don't realize that it's simultaneous to assistance being dispatched. It's common for people to come right out and say something like 'why are you asking so many questions' or 'stop asking questions and just get here'. I'm interested if anyone else noticed that?

11:12 This is interesting, now that you mention it: the difficulty of feigning parental concern whilst grieving. Hope would be a very difficult pretense to convincingly display under that condition: knowing the child is dead. It's a great point, which I had completely overlooked.

"my daughter is kidnapped!" is the expected context.
@StephanieLand1
@StephanieLand1 4 жыл бұрын
@@PeterHyatt It's good to know that. I always felt I was being unfair to my husband when I was talking to medical personnel during an emergency (not kidnapping). I tried to remember to say "we", but when asked any question at all, I responded consistently with, "My daughter". You'd think I had her by immaculate conception. My hysterical idea was that she was MINE and she was going to LIVE! And she did live, by the way. :-D Those medical personnel were true heroes and very fortunately knew how to deal with a mom in full-throttle panic mode. I'm sure I got in their way, I must have, but they saved her life anyway. Heroes, every single one of them.

Maria Durnin - He definitely killed his kids. I don’t think he planned on it. But he did plan on killing Shanann. The girls ended up getting woken during this time and Chris debated what to do because Bella was old enough to know something was wrong with mommy and would obviously tell others if given the chance. So Chris contemplated while driving Shanann and the girls to the oil field and sickeningly decided that he must kill both girls if he was to try and get away with it. 😓

Sir, one question, you stated in this clip that the woman who started the 911 call with „hello“ did that as a sign of guilt -is that an empirical observation, or a specific deduction in her case? I am asking because I thought, may be that’s a kind of protection mechanism, a automatism, which is not necessarily an indication or admission of guilt, but could also indicates severe shock. To give an example, my Grandma, who was a Holocaust-Survivor started until her last days to become overtly polite in stressful and/or emotional situations - it helped her to composure herself and have a little bit of control in an potentially „out-if-controll“ situation .... May be it’s a red flag in context, but in first place? It seems to me a bit different from the other examples you used - which where so telling... it is like „ I got a bad feeling about this - but I cannot put a finger on it as to why...“ Your semantical understanding of how language works gave so much important insights. Like you did with the McCann Interviews, which always made me feel very uncomfortable there was something off, their behavior was so Münchhausen’ish, but I never could really explain why I felt so utterly repellent by them. And after watching your interview with Richard Hall is was like stroke by lightening „She has been taken“ is setting a narrative and they did it rather successfully... I hope this poor little girl hadn’t suffered to much, because dead she is fore certain- the truth will come to the light - in its own matter of time. Thank you very much for your great work and bless you and your family...
