I'm from the United Kingdom but I remember exactly where I was and at what time, it was early afternoon in Britain, so around 2:30-3pm at the time and Britain is four hours ahead of New York, I was four years old and had just been picked up from nursery school by my mum and we were driving somewhere, I can't remember where and they were talking about it on the radio that a passenger jet had hit the twin towers in new york, I had no idea what was really going on until I got home, turned on the TV and it went straight to the news. The first thing four year old me saw was both towers burning live on TV, four year old me never forgot that. I'm almost 23 now and to this day the events of september 11th 2001 are burned into my memory.

I'll never forget that day. I standing in the waiting room of Provena Medical Center in Champaign IL watching all this unfold on the TV. People were more curious about what was going on thinking it was an accident, but when the second aircraft hit the tower everything changed. People started screaming, I could hear people crying and others talking about America being at war and the country being under attack. The rumor mill started almost immediately, someone said that the While House had been hit and somebody else said that Sears Tower in Chicago had also been hit. Others talked about gas prices going up to $5.00 a gallon and that the national guard was being deployed and martial law might be declared. On hearing that news I quickly left the hospital to make my way back home, there I thought I'd be reasonably safe and could watch what was going on from my own TV. Driving East on I-74 I could see cars rush past me with NCY written on the back window, I assumed that these were students from the University trying to get back to New York. Although that part of the Interstate is heavily policed I didn't see one car with NYC on the back window being pulled over for speeding, I guess it was that kind of day.

But it wasn't until nearly two hours after the attacks started that someone came up with the bright idea to ground all aircraft in the United States and to order all pending flights to remain on the ground. Two hours. That decision should have been made the moment that second plane was declared a hijacked aircraft. They were more concerned with getting fighter cover over New York and telling pilots to secure their cockpit doors than ordering all aircraft to land. The FAA were terribly slow to react to these unfolding events and I hope lots of lessons have been learned, because those lessons were learned the hard way.

Unfortunately, this was during a time when this type of thing just did not happen and when it did, everyone was not ready for it, as frustrating as it is, people were not ready. I remember pre-911 literally walking through security at airports, looking back, it was bizarre. A lot of things don't add up the ease and precision of everything hitting most of the targets like its child's play. On KZbin very important to find the video "flight attendant sheds new light on 9/11". Listen to someone with 33 years as a flight attendant for one of the two airlines involved, who easily could have been one of the flight attendants on one of the planes that day. She offers her assessment of the phone calls based on her training and 33 years doing the job. In general it is crucial to listen to audio of these phone calls that is as old as possible to protect against manipulation of the sound quality.

Very Interesting and informative video ! There are many questions and unexplained Theories related to 9/11, that still confuse people even after 22 years later. This is of the most Famous tragedies in human history, that changed the Security system in aviation. For example after 9/11 attack, aviacompanies decided to hire fly marshals - special police officers, who will protect the plane while it is in air. Also some policies changed in flying airplanes. Nowadays no one has acces to pilot cabins, except the flight attendants, who need to know the special passwords before entering the black box.
