It works! But like you said, it crashes super quickly. But it's super satisfying and surreal to use (if you ignore how slow it is, lol) I honestly wish this will continue to be developed and a true ios 7 for ipod touch 4 will be made. With a working camera, sounds, wifi, etc. and doesn't crash. It must be possible just by transferring drivers and what not (?)

The reason why Tim Cook didn't let us update to 7 is because its hardware is oldddddd. It's already unusably slow on 6.1.6 so no wonder why it doesn't support iOS 7.

The iPhone 4 has the A4 chip too but it still can update to 7. The reason why the iTouch 4 couldn't run 7 because it only has 256MB of ram. The reason is the iTouch is like a cheaper version of the iPhone so Apple had to use older hardware.

Personally, I like the idea but it really isn't worth it. iOS 7 is outdated now and the iPod touch 4th generation has much too old hardware from 2010. Best to get a used device on ebay or something like that. iOS 7 is trash even on the iPhone 4 compared to it running iOS 4

The server is likely needed to establish a connection to iTunes so it can push data to the iPod which is a function that is very hard to code from scratch and few people have done it, and to my knowledge, nobody has released source code to do that

Gondrazi Well I wouldn't exactly recommend it, but if you don't use it too often like me then you could always try it. If you're willing to wait 2 to 3 times as long for things to load then it's fine. It's actually even slower than whited00r (complete iOS 7 theme) on my iPod touch 2 to give you an idea of performance. And that is pretty slow.

I remember when my iPhone 4 broke some years back, I had to go back to using my iPod 4 and I was really upset it never got the update to iOS 7 and I had to go back to using iOS 6. I was pretty bummed about that back then but now i realized that apple would have destroyed the iPod 4 with iOS 7.

If apple officially put ios 7 on the ipod touch 4 it would probably be the same speed wise as the iphone 4s on ios 9 so it would be slow but it might work

An iPod 4th Gen 8GB was my first ever apple device, I was so gutted when iOS 7 didn't land on it, but seeing how slow it runs in this video, it's probably not worth it. iOS 6 and prior run quite well on it, I think it was ultimately a good decision by Apple to cut the iPod 4th gen off at iOS 6.

Same here! Just not my first apple device. My dad and I got a huge lot of these and we are trying to repair them. We both are keeping the one we first touched. (his has a small bloch and mine has a faulty/fried screen that I messed up more) Seeing how different it is to what I know is really fun.

Well...no. Firstly, the screen resolution will limit it. Secondly the iPad doesn't have a normal phone modem... Thirdly, the iPad doesn't have any camera so FaceTime will be broken.

@@FMCREPAIRARMAGH22 4th generation ipod touch just has less ram than the iphone 4 the iphone 4 has 512 mb ram the ipod touch 4 has 256 mb ram both have the same processor though I still have my ipod touch 2nd generation it's on ios 4.2.1 works great but I can't download the latest compatible version of apps on it because I can't view my purchased apps on it because that feature wasn't added until ios 5 with icloud I've been thinking about getting a 3rd gen ipod touch because it runs ios 5 so it would be alot more usable than my 2nd gen ipod touch but it's good

You can only downgrade the iPod 5 to iOS 8.4.1, however you can dualboot to iOS 6

@@sadamhakroi.c.ipakistan4225 Apple does not allow you to install iOS 7 on the iPod touch 4th generation. You may be able to do this with jailbreaking your device, but I would not recommend it as it can be insecure and unstable. Only newer iPods can update.

please someone answer this comment i believe that iOS 7 is possible on the iPad 1 (or at least iOS 6) and maybe it be even more stable ,cause the A4 chip in the iPod touch 4 was underclocked to 800 mhz to preserve battery while the A4 on the iPad 1 was on full 1 ghz ( it already had a 6000+ mah battery). iPad 1 and iPod touch 4 have the same 256 mb memory. so can't we just modify the iPhone 4 ipsw and take some files from the iPad 2's ipsw and add to it in such way that it supports the iPad 1 ? I know the iPad 1 didn't got iOS 6 because of the resolution thing but come on, iPod touch had iOS 6 on retina display with a resolution of 960x640 and it handles it pretty well ,the iPad had just a little higher resoltion of 1024x768 and Apple decides to let it pass (why apple ?why?). The iPad 1 i have is a 64 gig, 3g model .If it gets a modified iOS 7 then maybe it can handle taking calls but camera app would surely crash.
