The way I've always seen it is that Apple always knows best, and you either like it or you buy something else. They're obsessed with control and too proud to admit mistakes. It's one of the main reasons I will never buy an Apple product.

This is the best Apple commentary I've. I bought into these jerks with my 512Ke. I have hated them ever since. And I still do. At least Jobs had something to sell, all Cook offered is something to pocket - your money. Every time I see that Shiller on the stage he costs me money. Big money. He's a puke. That's why I don't own a studio display, ca-ching. I got stabbed in the back with their termination of the iMac 27" to force us into the discrete studio components at 2-3 times the price. They really are vile, but remember the garbage that Windows was 25 years ago, and the business market power they preyed on. I've seen quite a lot, not all, but AAPL are just the same dirt that BS'd you to believe that Biden's first year was so much better than his fourth. I really don't want to keep feeding the beast but I'm trapped in their tarpit which has nothing to do with "eco". Stop using the term, is a cesspool.

Apple's devices were nice looking. And that's about it. You had to jump through so many hoops to rationalize why you spent so much money on a nice looking device. Then you're committed. I never liked Steve Jobs. In his mind, he was the only person who used Apple products. If an option or feature didn't appeal to him, than you didn't need it.

Look here, buddy. You don't tell Apple what you need, Apple tells you what you need. You think you may need a custom EQ on your iPod but Apple already knows you like listening to music on bad sounding headphones. If you say you need usb ports and a keyboard on your laptop that doesn't have keys that stick and can't support the weight of your fingers without pressing several of them by accident, Apple says; Than you need a desk large enough to have a place to set your hands between words. That's a you problem. Everyone should already have a large desk with several places to keep dongles, mice, chargers, cables, for their $2500 laptop.

Removing the fingerprint sensor and not going under-screen or at least on the power button is FAR more egregious a sin than removing the headphone jack. I have yet to hear a single argument for doing face scan instead. It is objectively worse by every metric.

unpopular opinion: the magic mouse drama IS A NON-ISSUE. It seems like every KZbinr tech guy makes a habit of making fun of that charging port. The battery last forever. And if you plug in for JUST 2 minutes, like when you go for a pee, then you have enough juice to finish the day, even the week. Apple problems are so much bigger than this port thing. It's a crazy good mouse. You can dislike the ergonomy, but the charging thing is a non-issue, feels like people shitting ont that mouse don't even use it..

The only good apple product was the iPhone, anything else was just dumb contrarian decisions for no reason. The only reason to get anything from apple is if you're a musician or work with it and make millions of dollars a year AND you can't adapt to a real computer.

The Magic Mouse has nothing to do with ergonomics. Just 20-30 minutes of use, and my hand starts hurting. I’ll never buy one of these again.

Like the fact you just CANNOT change the layout of Final Cut Pro multi-monitor display arrangements. Absolute craziness to me. Even with the release of Final Cut Pro 11... ZERO attempts to resolve the fact that you have no options to move the second display onto a specific monitor in a 3-display setup.

I upgraded from a SE to the 15 Pro. Honestly had the SE battery not been failing I would have kept it longer. The 15 pro at about $1,500 with 1 tier of upgraded storage and Apple Care is a luxury price delivering a sub par experience. No wall charger out of the box and no headphones like the old days. Even with a slim phone case the 15 Pro feels like I'm carrying around a power brick in my pocket. Putting it in and out of my pocket is always cumbersome and has frustratingly resulted in the screen activating something that I wasn't aware of. The lack of a headphone jack still pisses me off - not just because I can't use headphones but because I had to spend an additional $50 to find a car adapter to both charge the phone and connect to my car stereo. I'm also amazed at the poor speaker phone quality which is literally no different than my old iPhone SE. The tech may be bleeding edge in many respects but is noticeably backward in others. The user experience is sub par and just makes me resent Apple for the money I spent that delivers a compromise at almost every turn.

The Mac Studio at $2-4k for pro users is an environmental embarrassment that the user can’t easily replace the hard drive or even open it to dust off the interior. Then there’s the annoyance that they couldn’t include a SSD expansion slot, headphone jack or USB A on the front of the machine.

I went from the pre touch bar 2015 maxxed out 13 inch Macbook pro, to the base M1 Pro 14 inch macbook pro. To me that whole touch bar phase was growing pains, the m1 pro mac's are the true successor. They seemed to cave to the demand of a touchscreen with a compromise, and also no magsafe is an absolute deal breaker. If they didn't bring back magsafe I would still be using my old one.

I've never used an Apple product in my life, and I didn't even know about these anti-consumer practices. The primary reason for me was price, Apple products are just grossly overpriced for what you get, compared to competition.

I think eliminating physical storage media and backwards compatibility was a step backwards. It lead to the state of the world today where you don't really own your own media anymore & large companies own everything.

I very clearly remember in elementary school that every student had to have their own floppy disk for storing our school work. We did not have network storage for students. And the computer lab had all iMacs in it starting in 98. All I can figure is that there must have been 3rd party, external floppy drives on the desk next to them for us to use, because I _know_ that this was the only way students had to transfer and store files on the school computers. I remember talking to my computer teacher about it. She told me the _teachers_ had access to networked storage, and that she was pushing for the school to set the students up with their own accounts on the school's shared storage because floppy disks were starting to become really limiting with the internet making downloading and storing things like images much more of _a thing_ that students needed to do, but that the administrators didn't really *_get_* computers or the internet and were resisting. My favorite elementary school teacher. :)

Calling Mac laptops the best almost sounds like a Monty Python sketch sometimes. Mac Fanboy: "Macs are the best laptops, hands down!" Another User: "Except for gaming." "Well, yeah, but you can buy an X-Box and TV. Besides that, it's the best!" "What about mobile gaming? I like to bring all my games with me" "Oh that. Just buy an iPhone. But Besides gaming, including mobile gaming Mac Laptops are the best!" "And the lack of proper ports." "What? Okay, we'll buy another dongle. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, and a lack of ports, Mac laptops are the best laptops" "Except for touch screen laptops. I mean those are very convenient " "Oh yes. Those would be nice. Well, we'll get an iPad for that. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, a lack of ports, and a lack of touch screens, Mac laptops are the best laptops!" "And the cost. You could buy two Windows laptops for the price of one Mac." "They are expensive. Just make more money peasant. But okay. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, a lack of ports, a lack of touch screens, and high costs, Mac laptops are the best laptops!" "And repairability. You basically have to throw it away if one thing breaks." "Right, but who ever needs to repair laptops? But okay. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, a lack of ports, a lack of touch screens, high costs, and a lack of repairability, Mac laptops are the best laptops!" "And software compatibility. Half the tools I need either don’t work on macOS or need weird workarounds." "Well… you can always run Windows in Boot Camp… oh, wait, they dropped that too. I guess we can buy a Windows laptop for that stuff. Okay. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, a lack of ports, a lack of touch screens, high costs, a lack of repairability, and bad software compatibility ...Mac laptops are the best laptops!" "Don't forget the overheating issues with those thin designs. They can heat up with the mildest work load." "Okay, we'll buy a cooling stand. Okay. Besides gaming, mobile gaming, a lack of ports, a lack of touch screens, high costs, a lack of repairability, bad software compatibility, and heat issues...Mac laptops are the best laptops!" "Right! As long as you buy an iPhone, X-Box, TV, a dongle, an iPad, a cooling stand, save up for a new laptop when you need to repair it, and buy a separate Windows laptop." "Well of course, that goes without saying. They're simply the best!" "Yeah!" "Now let's go defend them with a religious fervor everyone who says otherwise, jokes about it, or calls us cult members!" "Yeah!"

Based on how Apple generally acts, I can almost guarantee you that they will put the USB C port somewhere that *_would_* make it physically *_possible_* to use it while it's charging, but they will design it such that the mouse shuts down its bluetooth connection while plugged in to *_"discourage_* users from putting unnecessary strain on the charging port" or some other bullshit because Apple is petty like that.

11:45 "really strong on user privacy" What? how? And how can you say that Microsoft is worse? Until more recently Windows would hardly even collect much data, but these days while they do collect a lot more, the type of data being collected is nothing compared to Apple. Apple has a vague illusion of privacy, but really they do the same sort of targeted advertising as Google and Microsoft, the same location tracking, the same message and image spying, etc. The possible difference is that _some_ of their options have more effectiveness to disable and/or more ability to disable if one goes into options and disables them. But even then you're stuck with a very untrustworthy device not under your control that _does_ still spy on you, along with being forced to give your full name, address, e-mail, and phone number to them just to get basic device functionality (ex. downloading any app) which neither Microsoft nor Google require.

I really like the idea of Vision Pro and I'm not even particularly put off by the price, because even though it is expensive it isn't actually overpriced. I just never buy first generation hardware of any kind, as a personal rule, in case the product doesn't end up succeeding in the market and is ultimately abandoned. But, I still hope that Vision Pro 2 is in the works and will eventually come out.
