Nice to see a big old boat like that kept clean and not messed up with broken parts everywhere. If you are not stuck in the ' everything has to be modern and new syndrome ' it could be a great boat. The right people are out there but not many. Hope it finds a good home. Thanks for posting video. Cheers warren

Recently found your channel and have been binge watching it all with my husband, who once worked on yachts in Florida. We’re in the U.K., I’ve never been to the States and love DIY. Husband says if I ever saw inside a Home Depot I would lose my mind. So if you want to make this happen lol, would you strap on a GoPro one time if you feel inclined, I love the out and about videos you do. It’s nice to see what life is like for other people. Big respect to the both of you for going for your dreams, it’s very refreshing to watch people having a go, not being afraid, and learning alongside them. Thanks for the great content. 🌷

Today is Thanksgiving over here. You reminded me I should be thankful for those orange monsters. I used to complain I was living in suburbia with a Home Depot on one side and a Lowes on the other a short bike ride away. The negative is our corner hardware stores are going away.

You two do s great job showing boats. I always look forward yo the next show. A couple suggestions. When a boat sells, such as this one. Please add the selling price (if known) and keep the old asking price up so we get a good feel for the selling field. Also late comers like me on this one get an idea of what it was going for. I think I saw someone say 200k? Way out of my range but a nice viewing just the same. There's always room for dreaming. Id like to see more affordable sail boats 30-40 ft range. Just the same though. Thanks for these dream boat tours too.

I know a few old leathernecks, that still rely their old Furuno sonar's instead of "that new fangled junk". They have a whole lot more nautical miles on them without incident, than I do, so who am I to question their ways? That model was introduced around 1973, so that was probably part of the original outfitting. They made those CRT scopes until around the mid 80's. That old Stephens Engineering radio was a top notch HF RSS radio in it's day. They covered the 2 - 23 MHZ range, and had automatic channel blocking for restricted airwaves. That was like sorcery in 1970, when the 222 was introduced. The radio below it was probably installed as an upgrade, though I don't know why they would have kept the Stephens, other than possibly ship-to-ship communication. They calculator looking thing in the Pilothouse that Randi was enquiring about, was basically a fancy TI-35, that could calculate and save trigonometric functions, and input them to an old chart plotter. Surprised that they didn't take that out when they upgraded. These are great, heavy hulled vessels that are great for island hopping, or, full on bluewater touring. Lots of sail power to keep you moving. The only thing that I wouldn't like about this boat, is that there isn't a good useable, outside space to relax in, especially while at sea. All of the great things that come with having that Pilothouse, are lost when business hours are over, and it's time to kick your feet up and enjoy a meal and a few of your favourite beverage.

That Volvo looks like a 6 cylinder with an inline injection pump, like a separate 6 piston engine in it's own right for fuel injection. Very reliable as long as it is not run out of fuel and cranked dry or water in fuel. These engines were used for European military vehicles.

Just subbed...out of all the channels, yours is unique. I really like the way you present each boat, and the ships you tour are actually from a non-invested (like a broker or owner) point of view, where you show both positive and negative. Also, the ships are more realistically priced...inspires one to dream....

Love your matter of fact narration in your videos. The final full and quick overview walkthrough is great. It gives you a great feel of the space and how one would feel maneuvering through the boat. Always keep that as a part of each video!! The boat. Very nice boat for its age considering it was a live aboard. But even in such condition, it’s about $35-40,000 overvalued. And that is not being overly critical, seriously. The audience for this nice large boat is actually those that want to do a full refit and take advantage of the seriously solid hull and great live aboard layout to work with. If you opened that engine access and there was a clean and clear engine bay that reflected significant detailed attention paid to everything, the windows were more sufficiently clear, and there was a bit more updating to the electronics, again, details were more obvious, there would be more confidence in the condition below the waterline. Considering it having been lived aboard for extended times, that usually indicates not having been pulled from the water very frequently for routine preventive maintenance/updating and may have been a significant motivator to sell. That’s a possibly VERY pricey prospect to get things done “while it’s out of the water”, if you know what I mean (bottom paint, bearings, seals, etc.). That leaves what else may need to be addressed up higher with hardware. Because of its age there is a lot of “just in case” projects to be assured of long range reliability. The dual generator set up is a huge plus and even though it may be a bit noisy, I love the layout of this thing for a couple that wants to live aboard on the water. But if this is going to become another life at sea for another couple, there will definitely be some significant investment ($100-200,000 depending on how much “their own” they are seeking to get to) even if this is just a starting point and that money would be spent over time. It’s a great layout for a boat of its size and age. If it was a dock baby that went out for a few short cruises and fix a few things as you go, that’s the buyer for this boat to leave as is at about $25-30,000 less than the ask. But if someone wants the feel of that super rock stable, sea worthy sail cruiser and wants to take advantage of that dual generator piece of mind and bring this beauty through another life on the high seas (which is probably the primary audience for this boat), the top end of the price range would probably be about $35,000. At that price it would be well worth a full workover. The layout along with that fat thick hull could confidently take someone on some pretty serious adventures!

Young ones, here's a tip...First, Learn to 'Roll' your clothes like the Navy does. My GF & I have lived on our 33' Pearson (sloop rig), 8-years. We love it. The first night in Manatee river, we thought we had a fire on board. The shrimp make such a crackling noise, it sounds like a raging fire below deck. After the first night, that sound is pleasing, just like everything else about living on our boat. A difference between a 33 and a 55. 33-foot @ $12/foot at a marina is not as bad as 55ft. Bottom clean @ $13 per foot, same, same. 4ft draft, better than 5. Main-Furl, bad, bad. 4500-hours, is the entire life of an engine. $8K, or $12K to replace it. The mast is NOT STEPPED...meaning the slightest leak at the collar will cause damage in the bilge you can't see until you get the $25K bill to replace it. ABSOLUTLY have it appraised. Other than that, ya'll should be comfortable if you intend to live-aboard. If your in the TAMPA area, we suggest you stay clear of the two WORST places we know of...Twin Dolphins (Bradenton), and Regatta Point (Palmetto). Those two marinas are, what we know, the cheating-est, nastiest, non-functioning-est of the several marinas we've been to in our eight years aboard. ALL others were wonderful, and the people too. Those different anchors are for different bottoms. DON'T try to use the Danfroth in grass...and never use more than 6ft of chain on the Danfroth...that's why the winch has chain and rode, both...besides, three strand rode gives a little snubbing, and it dries quicker. Always vent below deck at least 10cfm or you'll have black mold and that is deadly. Learn what 'Bore-Tide' is. Learn how to reef your main. Angle of diminishing stability. This is a topic, a choice...You sacrifice comfort, for safety… when your boat is narrow, it self-rights when a wave turns you over. A wide beam won't. A wave, half your mast high, will take off your cabin. Avoid east coast Florida when ANY portion of the vector of wind is from North...waves could be 40-feet. Our mast is 42ft and those waves were higher than our mast. Lastly, if you sail 30-miles west of Tampa after dark, DON'T. There is a station out there where tankers tie up to float-balls that are 12-feet diameter, too dark red to see at night, too close together to pass thru, and the ships are not lit. Those ships tie-up, dump ballast and brown waste there, so sea creatures from China don't enter our gulf. On your chart, it shows a little red dot. DON'T believe it. Don't go there.

I finished binge watching 'Learning the Lines' and the love you put in to Freebie. Here I am joining your followers and "clicking that bell". I saw this video today and took a step back with a "wow! You know, I kind of think you deserve this ketch. You may be thinking of kids, of a bigger space to grow. If you can afford this boat then why not? It's a gorgeous layout, and very practical. She'll be a beaut to sail. I have faith in your abilities to check her out properly and step into a deal with your eyes open. I know you've been 'advertising' boats, but perhaps grab this one for yourselves. Freebie has been great fun and you've learnt so much from her. I've learnt a lot, too, though I'll never have a yacht of my own now (used to sail dinghies back in the 1970s). You won't need a land-based apartment with this. You have everything, including a small work and store room. That Volvo diesel? That's maybe the boat's weakest point. Are there big enough electric motors to replace it? If you buy, I guess that engine will need a serious overhaul so it is good for more years. Good luck to you both. I have really REALLY enjoyed your videos. Being retired I don't have cash to send your way but I may pick up some merch if I can work out the sizes... :-)
