From what I am understanding here, the people that were asked to interpret were furious and encouraging this couple to go immediately to the police and have the hostile shut down. I hope i am not wrong because I want to say thank you to all those people who stopped to help them, warning them, apologizing for the ignorance and encouraging them to go to the police and seek justice. It shows you how attitudes and social norms are changing on a global scale.

It is not the job of the police to shut down a business with a mean owner. Just because someone says something that isn't nice isn't grounds to put them in jail. So basically, it is legal to snort cocaine in Spain but you go to jail for writing a mean note. So glad I live in 'Merica!
@devonguy027 жыл бұрын
It is here in the UK it,s a hate crime period, wont be tolerated nor should it !
@sarmadasco21007 жыл бұрын
Was not because the hotel owner wrote a "mean letter", as you say. It was because he threatened them with physical violence if we were to see the couple "act gay", which, by the way, is also illegal in "'Merica"! It is not legal to snort cocaine in Spain as it is not legal, more or less, anywhere in the world. As an American, myself, living in Europe, I don't think that in these last days, that I'd be lauding the liberties of the USA when throughout the world, all we are seeing are images of people protesting against how the USA, and primarily its new egomaniacal president, are behaving. These images are coming from the USA so can't be blamed on others protesting because they are jealous or angry with the USA. These days, the USA is a nation divided and many nations around the world, most recently the UK, are asking their representatives to ban the president from entering their nation. Not a good time to be saying what a pristine and joyful experience, the USA is. Of course, this is my opinion, which as of tiday, I am still allowed. Tomorrow, with the way things are going, my freedom of speech could be taken away, too. I wish you a good day.
@Will9c7 жыл бұрын
Banning the leader of the world's greatest economic and military power is not a good policy. Also, the letter was not necessarily a threat, just that they did not want homosexual activity on their property. However, they could have avoided all of this by refusing the couple. In most states, refusing serve would be legal. If not, they could just say they didn't have any rooms available. They should just stay at another hotel.. who would want to stay there anyway? However, since you are liberal, I am glad there is Europe for you to live in. I guess it's good we have a choice what kind of country we want to live in. #MAGA

@nataliechua50826 жыл бұрын
Hey man i believe in the same god but theres a verse in the bible that also states 1 Peter:48 "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over the multitude of sins." In other words, even if its a sin, the love from those two people for each other completely destroys any of that. In different words, sin is overruled by love.

Wrong, Lev 18:22, 20:13, say a man shall not lay with another man as he would a woman they both commit an abomination. it said nothing about in an adulterous way, 1 Cor 6:9-11 says nor the effeminate, not the sexually immoral will not enter into the kingdom of heaven, Rev 21-8 says the effeminate, the sexually immoral will be cast into the lake of fire. You're, not a Christian you're a lying hypocrite and you made up word means nothing to me...Whats the difference between anti and phobic?
@purple14416 жыл бұрын
*The LGBTQ+PEDOPHILE gang charges God with hate crime* Ok first of all, how the HELL can you tell me what love is if you can't even understand it. Second, you just called me gay. I'm straight. (Think again before saying something stupid) Third, LGBTQ+ already have names. Maybe you can search it up. No one asked you for a thesaurus lesson. Lastly, you can't just assume that I made the word "homophobic" or that LGBTQ+ calls opposite sex love "hateful". You need to stop with all this discrimination and think before you type something down.

The truth is your STUPID ASS didn't create a DAMN thing in the universe and have the foolishness to declare you have the final authority Lol, MORONS like you are why God put a limit on the lifespan of mankind why you have a birth date and a death date... You shouldn't talk about "forever' because that's something your SILLY ASS will never see because you denied God, so go ahead rant your DUMB ASS all the way to your own destruction (Rev 21-8 cast into the lake of fire) which I say is a good thing anyway it's looked at... Why would God give a bunch of unaccepting, unbelieving, rebellious, MORONS like you life everlasting, I know I wouldn't if I were him, God does not want your kind of FOOLISHNESS running around his new heaven and his new earth Rev 21-1 causing the same chaos, confusion, and hatred of him like you do now for eternity, your STUPID, DUMBASS, SILLY, FOOLISH, and "REPROBATE" statement confirms that.

genuinely_unfunny You don’t have to be atheist if it’s not what you believe in. Remember that the bible is just a book written by people 2000 years ago. It’s not Gods words. What kind of God would say that loving someone is a sin? People are just close minded and want to have an excuse. Im so Happy that Spain is ranked among one of the most accepting countries in Homosexuality 88% aproves of Gay marriage. Thats why I feel so lucky as a gay man to have been born in Spain and makes me proud of my country. We may not be the best in all ranks but in humanity we are top haha. We are also the top organ donation country in the world. When I go to the US, which is quite often, this gay battle over there seems so foreign to me that I feel sorry for my gay friends there. Some had to leave their house because their parents rejected them. Thats soo weird for me to believe.
@CMPhamtastikk9 жыл бұрын
Yes, in America homosexuality is looked at in a different perspective. Sadly, people in the US are not very open to gay marriage.
@Alejojojo69 жыл бұрын
Celine Pham USA is much about "macho culture". Lots of misconceptions of what a Boy has to be and a Woman has to be. American culture makes men Big, muscled, with big cars and strong, and women thin big boobs, flamboyant and fragile. Even gay men adapt to this stereotype or try to do so including myself. That and the way chritianity is practised in America makes gay marriage difficult to accept. Gladly I think is changing in America too at a slower pace.
@Alejojojo69 жыл бұрын
+ronnie rodriguez Yes there are Lots of ignorant people in the US, At the same time I like the USA because of its extremes. You find veeeery liberal people with veeeery conservative ones in all aspects of Live. In europe we tend to be more into an average I think. People who are "by the book" christian in Spain, which are extremely few, usually are either veeery kind or mean. Out of my experience they are more mean than good. (Catholics couldnt even read the Bible themselves until 150 years ago, and only one interpretation of it, not like protestants who have many. Its funny they see catholics as very religious when in Spain we see protestants as veeeery religious) Ive never been to Florida but I would love to go and visit it. I definitely have to check St Agustin out! Ive been so far in Boston, Seattle San diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, Hawaii and I lived 1 year in Los Angeles. and I toured all around Utah, Colorado, N Mexico and Arizona,

Wow! haha, you've been to more states than me and I live in the US. :O Living in America as a lesbian myself has become something normal for me (stares ect.) I've gotten used to the stares ect. yes, there is a lot of ignorant people in the US. But in the US it's hard to find a gay friendly church for Christians. I happened to find a church down here where they sort of accept gay people. But I can tell by the way they look at my friend and I who go to the church they do not accept us. They don't really greet my friend or me when we come to the church. But it's okay I'm just glad in other parts of the world they are a lot more accepting than the US. Just be careful when you visit America. Some people gay bash and hurt people out here. (depending where you visit) (: Be glad where you live homosexuality is rarely looked down upon. & Yes Florida is beautiful! Visit as much as you can life is too short!

Somos Iguales. Solo nos gustan personas igual a nuestro sexo. No veo NADA PERO DE VERDAD NADA DE MALO. Asi que VOY A VOLVER EN ESPAÑA Y SI HAY QUE LUCHAR PUES LUCHO PERO SEGURAMENTE SERÁ MEJOR QUE ESTAR AQUI Y SER TRATADO COMO UN ENFERMO.

btamamura Sometimes I really question so many people, they all think they have some high political power against the LGBT community. The worst part is some of them are the ones debating for equal rights for black people and going on about femininity. I can't really relate personally to your situation (being a straight girl) but I've seen it, it's absolutely awful the shit you guys have to put up with these days, I wish I could just put an end to it honestly. As a British gay guy who has made Spain my home - let me tell you, I love this country so f**king much. This is absolutely a reflection of the Spanish attitude in general. The reaction of most Spanish to such an email that these American boys got (or pretended get) would be 'this is criminal' and 'this business should be closed down'.... and the police would take this VERY seriously .. (the police who, by the way, really join in and have amazing fun during all the gay pride events). This is not THE reason I love Spain or THE reason I am so proud of Spain or THE reason I can't wait to have my citizenship granted. It's just ONE of MANY reasons.

theRightizright Firstly, being gay is not something one can choose, you are born like that, a heterosexual person cannot be homosexual just because he or she wants to, well, it works the other way around too. People cannot change their sexuality, it is not chosen. Secondly, YOU believe in God and because of that have a certain viewpoint (which is only hateful) but keep in mind that not everyone has the same religion as you nor believes in the same things you do, you cannot say "it's the truth", because it's not; maybe it is immoral to you because of your religion, though objectively it is certainly not; it doesn't matter how much you want to push your believes upon people, they are not proven, they are not the objective truth, they are only the truth for certain people. If you let people be happy we would live in a happier world, homosexuals don't harm anyone, why don't you keep you hatred and religion to yourself? I don't care about your wanting to "save them", because you believe that, but some others don't and don't care about it, keep that in mind. Have a good day.
@ratt.teethh6 жыл бұрын
theRightizright let me just tell you something. I am lesbain. I didn’t choose it. How is it a “sin” to love someone. Your version of that religion is corrupt. True I may be Athiest but I know enough to know you are corrupt. I didn’t choose to love girls but I do. It’s better that I love someone than if I’m like hurting people yknow?
@ratt.teethh6 жыл бұрын
theRightizright I didn’t just wake up one day and go “you know what sounds fun? Being Lesbian! Because I think it sounds fun to be discriminated against my bigots like you who believe in a book” you know the fucking bible also says you can’t eat bacon. It says you can’t cut your hair. You can’t just pick and choose. And plus he’ll doesn’t sound that bad. I’ll go hang with a whole bunch of other gay and lesbian people. Sounds like paradise to me

Hahahha Wrong, God is the one who says the homosexual will not enter into his kingdom 1 Cor 6:9-11 Nor effeminate, nor the sexually immoral, nor the abominable will enter the kingdom of heaven...Rev 21-8 The effeminate, the sexually immoral, the abominable will be cast into the lake of fire...That sounds like God is discriminating against the LGBTQ+PEDOSEXUALS...In Rom 1:23-28 God "turned his back on them" causing the woman to give up the NATURAL use for man as did the men give up the Natural use for woman "burning in their "lust" for another man doing unspeakable act (same-gender sex) one to another...In Lev 18:22 and 20:13 he clearly says to kill you, therefore, it is you who is going against God's law of MALE and FEMALE sex only explained in Gen 2:22-24 God created them MALE and FEMALE opposite but "suitable" for sex, that is confirmed by Jesus in Matt 19:3-5, these are God's word, not mine and I will not go against them because you hate to hear them I will not stand with you as you "protest" gainst God's law forbidding your vile lust for the same-sex...God does not want the homosexual to inherit the earth and he is not going to let them his words are very clear on that...

WOW. You are actually SO archaic it hurts... I can't even be bothered to read your entire comment because it's not only offensive, but utter nonsense. Do you HONESTLY think the meaning of life is to reproduce...? Really? That's our only purpose? What about all the people who for health reasons cannot have babies? What about those who simply don't want to have children... are their lived non-existent too? WOW. I've written so many thesis' about this. I have so many books I recommend you to read about how the term 'homosexuality' actually came about and why it became seen as a negative thing (most commonly because men believed woman were trying to surpass the need of men and live independently and thus men loose their power. It was initially a good thing for men especially to have 'romantic friendships' with other men.) But honestly - not even to be mean, I think you should genuinely get some education. If you can't be bothered to read up (no shade, it's not for everyone,) just watch any of the million documentaries out their about the abuse and torment homosexual people have to endure. Watch a video of them getting beaten up and outcast-ed and their lives ruined and tell me you don't cry for their plight because it is utterly heart breaking. P.S before you call me a 'dyke' or an 'anti-homophobic bigot (which.. doesn't even make sense...) I am straight. I'm also human and am capable for feeling empathy and morality. P.P.S ... Pretty sure straight people get venereal disease too...

@ZacSup8 жыл бұрын
What does America have to do with this? Well for starters as the country that has one of the biggest influences in the world in terms of culture, waiting until 2015 to legalize gay marriage is fucking disgusting, What i'm saying is that America should really be taking notes from around the world in terms of recognizing all of their citizens as equal, and i find it pretty ironic how they call themselves the "land of the free" when for the longest time you couldn't tell someone "i do" basically because "your love is considered invalid to the government due to the gender you are attracted to" pretty pathetic don't u think? So many countries legalized it long before they did (Canada and the Netherlands just to name a couple) and who knows, with these new fuck heads about to go in office (Trump and Pence), who knows what could happen to gay marriage in the U.S.

I was in Spain last year for a week. Went to Sevilla and Barcelona. Everyone was unbelievably friendly. We even had a family from Barcelona, who we met in Morocco, drive us from the airport to our homes, which was 40 minutes away from where they live. Spanish people are incredible. I hope to live there one day. Some of the kindest, most noble and pure hearted people I've ever met. Viva Espana.
@rybak87876 жыл бұрын
@@elysian2765 That's incorrect. "Viva España" is not the famous fascist expression from the dictatorship -- that was "Arriba España".
@elysian27656 жыл бұрын
You are right, however, it does have a similar meaning. No normal person says that, only alt-right Vox voters
@rybak87876 жыл бұрын
@@elysian2765 Maybe not no one, but yeah, I get your point. The alt-right has been kidnapping/appropiating the idea of Spain. That actually makes me wonder sometimes if calling out those who say this kind of stuff when celebrating social achievements (such as lgbt acceptance, for instance - therefore, in a non-chauvinistic/fascist spirit) is such a clever approach. To me, it seems more like a way of giving up the concept freely for Vox voters to take, instead of vindicating it, which also attracts voters for them. I mean, shaming every little recognition of the homeland, however far from supremacism it is, might end up backfiring. Besides, letting them be the only ones to do it just nourishes the association of the idea of Spain with those nasty ideologies, and that's pretty unfair 'cause the majority of Spaniards don't support those ideas. I feel like this issue should be addressed or discussed by society at some point xD

It never stops to amaze me how much discrimination still exists in our world. How sad for our human race. I was so positively impressed by the positive reaction and support the two young men received from the people who were trying to help. There is hope.

When I saw this was in Spain, I knew they’re reactions would be like this. Spanish are amazing. Such beautiful people. By the way, I know what homophobia is. I was sacked from my job in Sydney in 1996 because the management discovered I’m gay. There was nothing I could do about it, because of the ‘evidence’ they made up, and the legal action they threatened me with if I challenged the sacking. They could afford top lawyers and I’d have to either rely on legal aid, or defend myself. So I just had to accept it and try and move on. I guess that why this video has brought me to tears.

I bet a lot of people outside of Europe did not expect the Spanish people to be so angry about this man behaviour. The Spanish are in general very welcoming and open people I have been going to Spain for over 40 year 25 of them as a same sex couple and we have never had any problems. but in America we have been met hoistial responses many times. in fact America and Russia have been equally bad in our experiences. I love Spain and the people

I can only offer my perspective as a wannabe global nomad and culture enthusiast who's traveled through Europe and the Americas, but for whatever it's worth, nowhere else in the world have I met friendlier, more accepting, more hospitable people than I did during my time in Spain. Every Spaniard I've ever met was kind to me far beyond anything I've ever experienced at home or even in other European nations. The Spanish are incredible people. I love them dearly. ^^ VIVA ESPAÑA!

When I was 16, I visited Barcelona for the first time. It’s a beautiful city, and I went to the famous fountain show. There were 2 girls near me, who were obviously a couple, and I remember trying not to stare at them. Only because I had never seen 2 girls so publicly in love before, and I found it so cute. In fact, I was questioning my own orientation at the time...and I think my outfit kind of showed that: it was a tomboy look, but not the kind straight girls pull off. Anyway, I noticed one of the girls looking me up and down out of the corner of my eye, so I turned to her. And that next moment will stay with me forever, It was just so sweet and it is still my favourite interaction with a stranger. All she did was smile at me, but it was so cute and even had this hint of cheekiness to it. Like a “me too, buddy.” It was strangely reassuring and I smiled right back. And that was it. I don’t know quite how to describe it, but that moment was so special to me. I hope she’s still out there somewhere, with the same love of her life, making baby questioners feel like everything will be okay one smile at a time.
