98-02 Honda Accord Climate Control replacement. 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002

Very quick video showing how to replace the climate control assembly in a 98-02 Honda accord.
The reason that we replaced this was because the climate control LED's would randomly stop working and you could not use the AC/heat. The blower motor would work but that was it. There are ways to fix it with some soldering but we just chose to go the easy/cheap way of a junkyard unit replacement which only cost about $10 or so for the part.

Old vid i know, but glad i found it and thanks for the info. My 2002 accord drives me crazy. When its cool outside the climate control works fine, when its suffocatingly hot the whole C.C panel fails and will not work. The stock radios on these cars fail sporadically as well, looks like someone already solved that problem on yours before you got it. T.Y!

the clock lifts from the bottom up, if you do like this guy youll crack the plastic. same with the whole housing, bottom up, its why it has 2 screws below and one behind the clock...intuitive design

I have question. Is the climate control unit still good when all climate control lights are individually on?

My Symptoms: A/C works. Lights come on. Fan works. Won't switch over to heat. There is the clunk sound when I hit "recirc". It's getting colder out in KC,MO. Could it be the air mix switch gadget that is under the passenger side? The Climate control replacement would be easier fix. thank you.. I hope for a reply.

Yeah, online they are a bit more. Junkyards/scrap yards tend to sell things like this very cheap.

My 98 accord has warm air flow just in the front vents but not on the defrost vents, do you think is the same problem/climate control? Thanks

That sounds more like something along the lines of a blend door issue. I suppose you could try the climate control if you can find them cheap but I don't think that would be the issue.

am having same problem and this is the problem right there. Just ordered one in Ebay, kind of expensive but i liked the color and I needed really bad. Mine would gave me problem last few year like would not blow AC air in the front and this year is not blowing hot air in window shield but is blowing in the middle so I am sure 99% this is the problem. One more thing I was angry this summer and I hit this part with my fist and broke some plastic parts of the blower in the front and that I think made this issue.

Does it matter if it comes from a 98,99,2000 ,2001-or 2002 ? Also ex lx or do matter? I have a 99 lx 2.3

don't think so. for example, my hondas 6th gen (like yours) which is 98-02 like the video title. mostly everything is the same so yes it will work.

You don't HAVE to. There are ways to fix it but I decided to just replace it since we found the replacement part for so cheap.

Was this repair to fix the AC lights not turning on thus the AC not turning on?

Yes, that is exactly why we changed it out.

Thanks so much! It went smoothly and the problem is fixed. I have Air conditioning! And I will be able to switch it to heat come fall. I put up with that way too long.

How much the whole climate control panel?

It only cost me like $10 at a salvage yard. It obviously will vary depending on where you go. These are very common cars so I'm sure it won't take you long to find one.
