I’ve found two of these in my neighborhood destroyed by thieves with just a flat tip screwdriver. They bent the box where it latches with the button both times. Although it was probably the same thief.
@futureshaman835 жыл бұрын

@Kaboomf5 жыл бұрын
Many common keyboxes are very easy to break open with a screwdriver or similar. I think the best use for them is as a delaying tactic: hang a keybox somewhere conspicious, with keys inside that don't actually fit any locks. Makes the burglar waste time and effort, increasing the chance of him being discovered and also increases the number of places where he's likely to leave forensic evidence.

I've known my landlords for over a decade and they have been in the business 3 times as long. In all that time they have not had 1 person pick one of their lock boxes. They have certainly had broken windows, door jams and the like but "smart thieves" have not been an issue. They also pay a LOT more than $15 to secure keys to 125+ residences worth from about $175,000 and up. But beware LPL has featured an electronic lock worth well over $100 that he was able to disassemble with a Phillips head screwdriver and a little hook to pull out the foam pads.

I've been in property for 7 years. I haven't had one of my key lockboxes opened even though they sometimes go onto screen doors and are very visible. One of the models used at work was featured on LPL and of course it's a Master Lock. Nor have my colleagues had anybody get into the lockboxes. Admittedly the properties I work with are usually vacant, little worth stealing. Squatters just smash their way in and bypass the lockboxes.

Fun fact, using the knife tool or some sort of thin tool with an edge at the end, you can slide between the body and the shackle and push down and wiggle to release the shackle, if you just want to remove it from whatever it is attached to, a knob or lever lock, for example, this way you can have the entire lockbox in your hand or on a bench to decode.

@srshama5 жыл бұрын
This is my first time finding this channel and now I've watched a few videos. The main issue I have: I would ask that the lock you are picking be put in a real life scenario. If this was on a door you would not be able to hold it like you did. Not saying you couldn't do it, bc clearly you can, but you would not be able to turn the lock upside down if it was on a door. So I'd like to see more realistic openings of locks in your videos.

I’m looking for a lock mechanism to put on a chest that is very slim and can handle the weather. The chest is a small cooler I’m making that will replace the back seat on my motorcycle so I want to build it into the chest without creating a large bulge or using complex leavers . The mechanism on that lock looks sort of like the thing I need but I prefer that I’m the only one who can open it.

If I were making a combination lock, I'd add warding in so probes can not be used, and make it such that tensioning the shackle or other mechanisms would not be useful. The technology exists, but no one dares to make something high quality due to cost reasons for mass production.
