no it won't be because they switched to Drive By Wire in 2003 which added another connector to the throttle body that controls the throttle position whereas 99-02 trucks were cable driven and just uses a steel braided line directly to the pedal. you're going to need a harness off of around 03-07.

I have 2001 chevy silverado 1500 with a v6. I just bought a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 2wd 5.3 donor truck. will I have to flash the pcm from the donor truck.

@@jn2136 no sir, just do a key relearn on your v6 truck after you get it swapped over. No need for a flash or tune unless your gear ratio for your rear end is different than your v6 truck. I left a link in the video to show how to do the key relearn to get it running, very easy to do.

6.0 just needs different flexplate/flywheel than the 4.8/5.3, thats the main difference....BUT since the v6 flexplate is the same spacing as the 6.0, you will just need holes elongated to bolt right up to the LS and work perfect with 6.0 engine

Yes I used the stock flexplate/flywheel from the 5.3 and left the v6 converter untouched with the original trans. I didn't have to use any adapters of any sort.

I didn't have to, no. But is the actual transmission shifted all the way into park before bolting up the shifter braket/linkage.

Yes you will but you will need an engine harness for a 99-02 and throttle body as well as a pcm (red&blue connector) for a 99-02 since your truck is a pre 2003 model which uses a different pcm than the engine in your suburban.

You only need to get it tuned if your gear ratio is different than your donor truck. If it is different, it will throw off your speedometer. I never got mine tuned and the speedometer reads 5-10 mph different than what I'm actually going

Your return line is going to be the smaller diameter of the two lines. The supply line is bigger.

The only time my truck revs higher than normal or shifts out late is when I have it in tow/haul mode( which it's supposed to). Do you have a performance stall converter? And do how many miles is on the trans?

I used factory motor mounts from the 5.3. The frame Mounts Are what will be different depending on your suspension setup. torsion type or coil spring type

The engine and trans was the original 4.3/ 4l60e from 2001. The engine I bought was from a 2001 suburban 5.3l. And thanks a lot, I'm glad I have helped you in some way.

Yes sir the 4.3 v6's used a cable style which will work directly with 99-02 style cable for the v8 models. I'm sure that they switched over to electric after a while but to answer you question yes. The throttle body from the v6 won't work, Just the throttle + cruise control cables and mounting for them.

@@MuscleAddiction903 2000 4.3 Silverado using a full doner from a 2001 4.8. I even used the same wiring harness and computer from the same 4.8. I didn't change any wiring just plugged in the computer/black color fuse end back into the 2000 Chevy's fuse box. Wouldn't that still be a solid 12v connection for starting?

Yes sir that fuse box should be getting power from the battery to power all the necessary sensors, relays and solenoids. How long does it stay on before it cuts off

@@MuscleAddiction903 It starts for like a second. I can hear the exhaust and all. I'm beginning to think it might be the VATS but idk. I am getting gas (checked the fuel rails), air (throttle is pulling in) and spark (pulled a few plugs and had someone crank while I looked, I could see spark).

Yes its the VATS, You need to do a key relearn that's it. That's the final step. I think I posted the video links I used when I did the key relearn procedure. It's super easy, all you need to do is have a timer/stop watch and a little free time.

No sir, I didn't. Everything bolted right up, and since I used the same transmission from the v6 I didn't have to touch or modify anything

Not the transmission mounts but the trans torque converter from the v6 well some v6s earlier model without the top bolt hole have a 298mm input shaft and the v8 run with the 300mm input shaft and will require a adapter that goes onto the flexplate if you plan on running the trans a while or your converter will wipe the pump out really fast. The other components like the mounts your sensors etc. will plug right into your harness.
