Jah man Sledge! Wise move, while it sure is a great and usefull skill to have, welding is a bit like doing paint jobs, it's just worlds apart and a totally different end result when people who really know what they are doing (and does it every day) gets their hands on it. Just one of those jobs that's well worth letting a pro do, in the long run.

I absolutely love the back on these facelift cars. I did this same job on the wiper motor on our 98 940 and I must say I was pretty shocked by how poor that mechanism is. Definitely not one of Volvo's finer moments. This will be a lovely car in the end, again..!

Great video again, on my 1989 240 DL i will installing about a $1000 in parts myself this next week so I will be busy and hopefully get most of it done before the snow comes here in Central Canada, I do love the winter, just not working on my Volvo in the cold weather until now, purchased a nice big propane heater almost 100k BTU"s, no problems there got a good fresh air and exhaust set up already 👍 nice to see you saving the 740, they just don't have the heat of a 240

I agree about the heat. My 140, 260 & 240 all had much better heaters than my 740. They all blew hot air, the 740 blows only warm air. Btw, I'm also in Central Canada. So, I need a good heater!

Hey mate, I can completely understand your decision not to weld load-bearing parts yourself. Very responsible of you. I just bought a new old 940 yesterday. And I was really happy not to find any worrying rust on the car. The days when I spent weeks welding holes are somehow slowly over. 😅I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with Vera 🙂Cheers..

Keep on keeping on with these old Volvos. I do worry that in a moment relapse of attention you may step back and fall into the pit. If you could park in a better spot would be a relief to us all.

Yay she is so worth saving for sure. Agree with your decision too. Yeah, Atlantic Blue is single stage and that oxidisation is a pain. Great video as always man.

When I had my 740 in the late 80`s I was changing bulbs for a pastime. The only ones I never changed were the headlight bulbs

I think the best improvement for any Classic is a set of rear light bulbs. Less likely to get rammed from the rear too! Just bought a 1993 245 in Ireland, which formed part of a large hedge.

Wipers can be a pain. On my doblo the linkage had plastic ball joints that used to fall apart. I ended up modifying it with rose joints made for motorcycle gearchange linkages.

Yeah that warm yellow glow from the headlights is nice. To be honest we have brand new Mercedes sprinter vans at work and I think my 940s full beams are more effective 😂

Just check that you haven’t fitted 24 volt bulbs… if the previous shed dweller worked for n lorries there’s a good chance all those bulbs will be 24v hence the dim….

the blue bulb you are talking about is the same exact bulb with some blue coating on it. The blue colour makes it seem brighter to our eyes, but it actually puts out less light because of the blue coating on the bulb. Stick with originals and for the love of God don't install LEDs

The post 1990 tail lights won’t fit the pre 1990 cars.

Yes they will fit but you have to cut away the metal posts behind the taillights and get aftermarket wiring adaptors

@@papplet1I didn’t fit them since I’d have to cut into the bodywork. I chose not to do that and installed the original 1987 rear lights. But agreed, if you’re prepared to cut into the bodywork of the car, the post 1990 lights will fit on pre-facelift sedans.
