@@IronsideGeorge it’s on 13 out of 13. I didn’t really click with Edward, and I couldn’t get myself to liking the naval combat. I didn’t enjoy it in any other Assassin’s Creed game either, but at least in the other games it’s just a small part of the game, in Black Flag it’s the main thing. Rogue too, but Rogue had the puckle cannon which helped a lot imho and was shorter anyway, also Rogue’s story was a lot more interesting to me and I liked Shay a lot more. Then Black Flag also didn’t feel great in both its stealth and combat, combat was AC3’s but I felt less menacingly, and hardly ever could do a double counter kill which was a real shame given how common and cool they were in AC3, and stealth lacked ranged silent deadly weapons (basically one throwing knife only). The overabundance of seas didn’t help me liking the game either, and all the tailing missions got a bit boring as well, and naval tailing missions were even worse. I heard a lot about the final cutscene being great so I eventually did force myself through the game but I just wasn’t satisfied, the ending was disappointing, but maybe that is because I just couldn’t really care about the game anymore. I feel like the game would have been better off if they didn’t force the assassin stuff in it, after all even though he understood all he had done wrong in the end Edward wasn’t a character that fits the idea of the assassins, guns and cannons are all but “hide in plain sight”, the modern day story was the first one to be lacking, I think if they made it a full on pirates game it would’ve done a lot better. It wasn’t the worst experience I’ve had with games, the antagonists were the best yet as a whole imo. The map was really gorgeous (at least the land was) and the setting is pretty interesting. I don’t think I had many glitches during my playthrough either. I guess it’s a 4-5 out of 10, so could’ve been worse, but sure should’ve been a lot better. It still stands as the only AC game I just couldn’t enjoy

I am replaying it right now. Even after all the GTA's, Horizons, Red Dead 2 etc, it still holds up extremely well, I'm having an absolute blast with it. Even the graphics held up after all these years. As a game, it just has an incredible flow to it, fighting, naval battles, treasure hunting, murder contracts, harpooning sharks, diving quests, really, never a dull moment. If you never played it, I can highly recommend it, probably the best ten bucks you'll ever spend!

I will defend Black Flag's tailing missions, because this is the game that got them right. In AC2-Rev, they are boring, the enemies will turn around and spot you on a dime. AC3 tried to improve the systems but made it more frustrating imo with the limitations of the eavesdrop circle and the incredibly quick reaction time you need. Black Flag perfects the tailing systems in a few ways. 1) your targets talk to each other, either developing the story further or just being entertaining. You don't tail in silence like those damn missions in AC2 where you tail a lone person for 5 minutes. 2) Parkour is incorporated into the intended tailing path, you rarely are required to tail from the ground and when you are, there are a plethora of bushes so it shouldn't be an issue. Just remember to always restock on sleep darts, they're essential for remaining undetected on the roofs. I will say that the naval tailing is very boring, as you basically just play the mini-map as you avoid the yellow zones

Sincerely respect this comment. Whilst sometimes they’re a little longer than than they need to be, overall they’re “good” tailing missions. But, for me it’s the sheer volume of them. They make up 25% of all missions and it just feels like too much to me ✌️

I've played all the way to the origin. There are tracking missions in the AC trilogy to Black Flag. I have to say that it's a bit of a torture to complete the tracking missions, because the AI's position is not so easy to judge. And you can't be too far away, and every jump and climb will delay a lot of time. The mission requires you to be very close and not be discovered at the same time, which is actually very difficult. Because the AI ​​is very sensitive.

Congrats on getting a sponsor dude! Though I think Black Flag had strong characters and an interesting story line, I thought the assassin side was quite weak, and it felt like the modern day storyline was rushed and they weren't quite sure how to progress since ending the Desmond story arc. Most people seem to prefer and really like the naval side, and I still occasionally boot it up to do a bit of pirating. From my perspective, as you said yes we got 2 games in 1, but it wasn't meshed together as well as it could have been. Though I still liked it better than 3.

Remember playing ac 3 basically just a year after the best(in my opinion) pirates of the Caribbean movie after the game introduced the ship missions i couldn't stop playing that part and i hoped they would bring something more out of it so as soon as i heard about how the 4th game is headed that way i instantly checked the local game shop to see if they knew the exact release date and when it finally came out i was one of the first ones in my town to buy it

The sea shanties in this game are LEGENDARY... I was playing Sea of Thieves the other day with random galleon crew. I hot mic'd Leave Her Johnny and everyone went quiet for a good minute... No one told me to shut up, or turn it off. The atmosphere felt very nostalgic and reminiscing on the ship. It felt amazing to be able to envoke that kind of emotion on a ship of random people, so many years later. It's like we all knew what exactly we were listening to. And that we were all just a bunch of dudes enjoying the moment.

None of them hold up to black flag, I am currently taking a break from those three to re-experience 4, the best thing about the game? Keeping your fleet. It helps soooo much early game. I am on track to 100% it, on collectables, I have to go back through and 100% missions still. Love this game. So much.

It took me a long time to touch this game. I played the ezio trilogy when I was younger but dropped it after revelation because AC3 didnt look like it added enough. I did get round to AC3 eventuality and its a pretty decent game. I found its polarising dlc to be a personal highlight. Anyway one thing I really appreciate about blag flag is how dynamic the missions feel, the objectives are constantly changing with the story and its not the case of just doing 1 select objective per mission.

Keeps all the good stuff from ac2 while adding new graphics, fun things to do in town that make it lively, and a very large open world with a good amount of enemies to encounter. Not to mention crafting upgrades like ac2 but actually based on materials u get. This game seriously deserves a remake

It was the first game I got with my PS4 at launch and I finally finished the story 11 years later. I didn't realize how close to the end I was and the ending was kind of a let down if I'm being honest outside of that short theater scene. But finally completing this game and going back to it, I think at the time I got it I really didn't appreciate how good of a game it was. I have a PS5 but I still played it on my launch PS4 and the game was really beautiful and you are right the sound with headphones on really impressed me with its design and made me think I took the ps4's sound capabilities for granted.

Haven’t played Skull and Bones but one thing I can for sure is that it doesn’t hold that glorified candle like AC IV Black Flag, I really love it and still do to this day because of the new naval battle features, I mean AC III did have naval battles as well but AC IV allows you to freely sail your ship to any destination you want while AC III only allows you to sail for missions

The remake needs to do these simple things: - Fix the outside of the Animus stuff Completely Boring, a little bit interesting for the lore yes, but it needs an overhaul, it's just so bland and slow paced as well - Remove a few trailing missions Seriously, there's just too many of them, some of them make sense, but almost all of them feel like filler - Fix Performance The frame drops are insane in this game, i like to play it Capped 60 fps, but sometimes it just goes down to 45 or 30 for a couple of seconds, then it's normal again - Reduce the amount of collectables in the game 100% this game takes a long LONG time because of this - Add more side missions - Upgrading Edward kinda sucks, they need to have more impact on gameplay I tested this a few months ago, i completed the game without upgrading Edward (Except for the obligatory upgrades the game makes you do), and i felt no difference between fully upgraded to no upgrades, the only difference is that it was easier to die, but you can pretty much one shot everyone with a chain kill so... Yeah - Adjust the difficulty The game is EXTREMELY easy, Edward feels like a killing machine seriously, it's extremely overpowered, i understand that this combat system is supposed to work like this, but come on, i can take out 25 dudes just by pressing "Counter" If Ubisoft manages to do this, pretty much copy paste and enhance everything else, this might be a 10/10 game

It’s as I say, it is super enjoyable! Though to be honest I think the combat in most AC games is pretty easy to learn too, though I guess you have more options like abilities and heavy attack in the last four games. Either way, it’s awesome 😁

I have this on series x - but I believe this was made for the last gen systems. Is there a huge difference graphically on PC? I have a very high-end PC with an RTX4080. Does it work with a controller on PC? Thanks man

I believe, but don’t quote me on this, that the graphics are capped at 60 FPS on whatever system you use, so I don’t think there will any difference between your series x and PC. You could double check the graphics settings on your Xbox to see if they’re all on max, and if they are, then there won’t be a difference. The game came out initially on the PS3 after all! But yes, it works with a controller on PC, I’d never play an Assassin’s Creed game with keyboard and mouse! Hope that helps bud

Desperately needs a remaster for console as image quality is pretty blurry and full of aliasing. And it remains 30 fps as with the other entries, which is honestly a problem mostly for Playstation as XBox at least runs most, except BF and Syndicate, at 60 fps boosted. However, they appear to be doing a Black Flag remake instead. I’d like to have both though. A remaster of the original and a remake as it would be a real shame for the original to fade into obscurity. Remakes never fully capture the vibe of the original so who knows how it will turn out.

Is it better to play it on console, or PC? Because i have always had issues with older AC games on PC. They just don't seem to run well, or have loads of bugs or issues with modern PCs running Windows 11.

Damn tough one...I love Black Flag and Origins, imo these 2 games are on 1#. both Edward Kenway and Bayek are great characters and their stories. I was not a fan of Valhalla. Still have to get Odyssey.

TBH I think tailing missions should be a major component of AC games because I think it sounds like the most assassin-like thing to do.

It's still by far the best pirate game ever made, that goes without saying. But the tailing and timed missions, instant desync, hacking and climbing missions are absolutely horrible. Other than that it's possibly the best ac game alongside origins.

I tried to play this game on pc and was encountered with countless issues, it wouldn’t launch if it wasn’t in compatibility mode and stuttered even when locked at 60 fps constantly. How did u fix these issues

Weird you say that imo. Unity looks great, no doubt about that. Awesome setting, amazing parkour (when it works). But the rest of it is kind of average… Whereas Black Flag… world is amazing, sailing is amazing, combat is great, parkour is good, story is awesome and Edward is incredible character! @@IronsideGeorge In the Kenway family, I like Edward the most, followed by Haytham, and finally Connor, although the family tree shows that Haytham is Edward's son and Connor is Haytham's son. Haytham finally joined the Templars. And Haytham was killed by Connor. This family is not complicated. But it is complete, and everyone has a distinct personality, although I don't like Connor. I am not impressed by Revolution. I don't remember what the characters did in Revolution at all. Although some parts of Revolution do have a movie-level texture, the characters are really flat. I only vaguely remember that the protagonist was kicked out of the Assassin Organization and then joined back. I thought it was ridiculous when I watched this plot. The Assassin Organization lacks management. The Templars don't have any real bad guys, and the Assassins are mostly executioners.
