I always put a pocket screwdriver in the hole on the cp3 shaft and slide the nut and washer onto the screwdriver.

Kudos to you for not needing a puller. I have never been able to get one off without one
@jeremywilcox6603 ай бұрын
So a puller is usually needed to break the shaft free from the gear? About to do my first cp3 and nervous AF about messing things up.
@007.3l7 жыл бұрын
slide a piece of pvc in the hole, undo the nut and slid the washer off, no need to worry about dropping either into the engine

I want to go nuts and do a crazy build but I got to figure this out first I've heard this and that but nothing conclusive lil help would be much appreciated . props to your channel

The 6.7 may not need a gear pulled but I can assure you the 5.9 does need a gear puller!

Cp3 =injection pump right?
@trevormangus78327 жыл бұрын
You can also once you get the nut lose remove the ratchet, slide the magnet through the square hole in socket up against the CP3 shaft and then as you spin the nut off it will slide onto the shaft of the magnet.

we are very economical friendly around here guys... no we're not lmao. appointment you telling me it's that easy.... I saw a vp44 swap and it looked like you needed a degree from NASA to do it right. theres no alignment or certain way the dial has to be or nun.. god I'm loving my 3rd generation even more
@TheKsurf4 жыл бұрын
How did you remove it? Was yours not stuck on the front shaft, I've heard you have to use a remover press. Also did you have to "time" it for the noise issue? Thanks. Great video.

Wishing the Duramax was this easy. 😂

What caused you to replace the pump? I have 219k on my 2012 and am getting a strange lump or miss every once in a awhile. I bought it used, so not sure the exact maintenance history, but I believe its still the original CP3 and fuel pump.

Very clean and informative boys. Good job.

Can you do a whole tear down of the front cover with the core support on. And what are the numbers stamped on that lock washer cause i found a larger washer in my pan and the front of the block after I bought a truck with a knock that wasn’t an injector.
@scottdowney43185 жыл бұрын
Might be a good idea to stuff some wadded up paper towels into that space where the nut and washer live so they do not fall into the engine.
@johnoak56977 ай бұрын
You didn't explain if the pump needs to be put on timing with the gear.
@dallindodge20277 жыл бұрын
No need for a puller for the gear?
@Cacciatore72677 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking. Everyone recommends a 7245 puller
@ssceverythingcummins18947 жыл бұрын

I have a 2005 Dodge 2500. I had the ATS twin fueler cp3 fuel pump kit put on a few years ago. Over time,the bracket that held the new cp3 developed flex,due to the extreme force put on it by the belt pulling down on it. It spit the belt off. Not a good thing. Has anyone come up with a way to build a better,stronger bracket to hold the pully steady,under load? Any flex,and the belt starts to sqeek.

so the pump just slides in an no alignment or key way to fuss with????
@AR15shootin7 жыл бұрын
no pump keys like the VP44. The CP3 just supplies constant pressure to the rail
@alonzo58007 жыл бұрын
couldn't you have just put it 6th with the ebrake on to torque the cp3?
@_greg_a7 жыл бұрын
That would have worked as well too

Getting ready to order my 10mm exergy pump and 60% over injectors to wake up my s467.... little off topic but what's your opinion on doing valve springs and pushrods while I'm in there?
@_greg_a7 жыл бұрын
O ya for sure thats how I always plan it, go in there once. pushrods, springs and studs all at once if your doing it.
@Dhane-07 жыл бұрын
Perfect, I figured the same thing. Thanks again for everything you do man!
@orianer4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks for the video - it helped a lot. After installed the engine begun making strange noise, do you think that I accidentally changed the gear position- messing the timing? Is that possible?
@orianer3 жыл бұрын
?
@TheLimitedmod222 жыл бұрын
No, the PCM controls the fuel pressure and delivery. ..does not have to be "clocked" or bleed

So skip the fact the gear has to be "pulled" off. Your video doesn't explain or show that.
