When a company is offering a 10 year guarantee on its products, you cant go wrong. I bought the Kriega tool roll and its quality is excellent. Brooding over what bags to purchase. Your video is helpful as you show the bags on a 'small' bike, something similar to mine. Thanks for the video.

I have a similar setup with the Kriega bags on my DRZ and as you mentioned they are very good quality. The rubbing and marks on your plastics can be polished out with "Gumption Multi Purpose cleaner". With a little bit of elbow grease I think your will be a happy camper. Thanks for putting the video together mate.

Great review Josh, I just bought a 2020 DR650 and it came with the Kreiga Bags so I am looking forward to the opportunity to try them out. I got a set of crash bars that go over the side plastics, mainly to keep the exhaust side panel from hitting the exhaust.

I would love to see if Kriega produced panniers for sport and sport tourer bikes. Although being good quality, the visible “flapping” potential (especially if only partially loaded) would be way to much for speeds beyond 100 mph / 160 kph on European highways. A little more rigidity added to the OS base and the bags would be really helpful - maybe through optionally insertable metal sheets?
@mototrailadventure27253 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your honest review. It seems that the side bags will move kind of like "butterfly wings" all the time as you ride... as nothing attach them to the bike... only through the OS kriega base... as we can see at 6:20, and I would bet even if the bags are loaded. The fact that the os base scuffed up the plastic is another issue. Thanks for highlight it 👍
@_JoshJB_3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. I wouldn’t say they are butterfly wings. The base is attached to the frame. It’s more of a foreword and back movement which eventually scuffs plastics. Would of been an easy solution if I thought of this ahead. I plan to get some new plastics and put a graphics kit or some sort of protective plastic on top to keep it looking better. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Not that I've seen. Unsure how you would get them to hold with a carabiner. The holes drilled are only 10mm diameter from memory.

Hey Josh, I know on the DRZ you run the 12’s, but would you say the 6 litre bags would be okay for single day trips? I’m struggling with the $520 cost of a 6 litre Kriega kit versus 8 litre Tusk Traverse bags for $200? I know there is pros and cons but keen to hear your opinion?
@_JoshJB_ Жыл бұрын
Hey mate Yea the 6s would be fine for a day trip. I usually just take one 12L with me on day rides. I don’t know anything about the tusk bags though. I know Kriega is pricey but I haven’t had an issue with any of my stuff as of yet so I guess it seems worth it at this point.
@Tassiedave Жыл бұрын
@@_JoshJB_ Good reply Josh. We do get a bit of rain down here on the Island so I think you have helped sway me toward the Kriega. Has the 400 still got a place in your style of riding or has the T7 taken over? I’m still a bit more enduro tight track style and the weight of the T7 worries me as I’m about the same build as you.

I've got a T7 and curious on the compatibility with the B&B long rear plate? Looks like a better option than the hard racks. I have no endeavour for heavy technical anymore but keen to hit the dirt roads to get to isolated destinations.
@_JoshJB_3 жыл бұрын
The OS-base is different for the T7, but it doesn’t work with the B&B full rear rack. I have seen images of B&B compact rack working with the kriega base. Just requires a little modifying with some longer bolts 👍🏼

do you think the universal OS base would work on my Africa Twin? I have rear grab handles, so I cant use the AT base. The widest part of the rear seat is 10 inches. If not, I think I might try to adapt the Tenere 700 OS base or KTM 1090 OS base. Thanks for the video

Thanks for the great review. Do you think the width of the base is wide enough for bigger adventure bikes like KTM 1090/1290? I know they have specially made OS-bases for those bigger bikes, but I would rather get these Dual Sport ones as I have multiple bikes and can inter-swop between bikes...thanks!
@_JoshJB_3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate I’d be buying two separate bases if I was in that position. I don’t think this one would work on the wider seats. I think the bags would be half on the seat if you used this base on the wider bikes.

You would be pushing it for multiple days. I have 3 x 12 and it works for me. 1 bag fits tent, pillow, sleeping pad, a few other pieces. 2nd bag fits sleeping bag, tools and some food. Third bag is just clothes, toiletries etc. Maybe 2 x 18 litre bags could work?
