@@BigBear-- I don't see the advantage of a triangular barrel vs the traditional circle with a tight tolerance circle machined into the slide.
@BigBear--7 ай бұрын
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 To be honest there probably isn't much to it of you're talking about a high quality made circular barrel vs a triangular barrel. But in theory with a triangular barrel there might be some very slight advantages depending on how it's manufactured. In theory it could be a stiffer design if the thinnest wall thickness is comparable to a round barrel, which means that the rest of the edges are thicker, and a triangle is a very strong design, so it'll make a stiffer barrel as far as barrel harmonics. It might also allow for a more perfect bore cut during manufacturing. Finally depending on the action design, it might make for better slide to barrel fit, and more precise action. These are all just the "in theory" ideas of why it might be better. Though honestly with moden manufacturing techniques, it's hard to imagine there being any serious improvement or difference made in performance. At the end of the day it's not super difficult to design really accurate firearms, that are far more accurate than any human shooter. Most firearms are more than accurate enough, and more accurate than the user. The rest is more about feel and form... At the end of the day guns like these are not about function, but about exclusivity and form. To be an excuse for someone with extra money to buy something cool and exclusive. That gun won't do anything that a $1000-2000 CZ Shadow 2 won't do the same, or do better. Or that a custom gunsmith can't do for you for $10-25K.

the optic mount is pretty clever . surprising it hasnt been done on other competition guns. alot more aestetic than the giant pic rail or bolt on the the side frame attachments CZ and 2011s use to have a stationary optic .But 10k is crazy. You can buy a Laugo Alien, CZ Shadow 2 and a Staccato for that much !
@sauerkraud8 ай бұрын
its a super bad idea because its not rigid and will flex pretty much. Shockwaves travel threw the entire material, and just seeing the G forces with the mass of the optic, I know its constructed to weak to sustain longer periods of time. Its only aesthetically pleasing, not mechanically. Go check out slomos of AKs and Raceguns with side mounted rails. Even a junk of metal connected with 4 screws will flex. So, the least you need is an even bigger junk of metal that is connected on both sides of the receiver and not allow for any off angled momentum.

I could see that red dot going out of alignment with the force of repeated firing requiring you to zero in the sight more often due to the design. To me it looks like it needs another arm facing forwards as well (still fixed on side of course) to make it more secure/stable. Not too sure about the magnets either. Love the concept of fixed red dots with free moving slide though and the gun looks pretty out there!

I was looking for this comment. The second shot will go straight into the ground. Very strange construction.

So it's basically nothing more than an overpriced version of the Shadow 2 with no innovations like the Alien. What a cheap attempt to rip off people, this company won't be around for long.
@mrmurdock69948 ай бұрын
sure but you have to admit it is pretty good looking and this probably is the first step of his company.
@dennissorensen87657 ай бұрын
Haha! That statement might be more accurate than the gun. 😅 It's built on a platform, that isn't even near the top tier. Shadow 2 is a fair, accessible sports pistol. Nothing there. Very popular. But you don't get anywhere near the accuracy of a factory SIG P210, easily giving you the same spread at twice the distance. At least in my experience. The SIG is quite expensive, yes ... but at a third of the price of this Elysian, being among the most precise pieces of mechanical work ever made in the realm of handguns, I would rather have two of those and have them fitted specifically to me by the factory, or even reworked into taking 2011-mags, just to go overkill in customization. 😅🙈

The barrel is a very interesting concept. Having it ride a rail on the top of the slide basically. So when the slide goes back to battery, Theoreticly it should be smoother and faster than slapping into a free floating tube barrel, aligning it and then locking into battery.

Fun fact: The Czechs have the highest beer consumption per capita. Looks great after a couple of drinks, I think. I'm uncultured, and I don't understand art.

Super imaginable... Its like star war innovation. He has applied his mind every where but that magnets are something wierd.... This platform should have come with a new caliber also... I can advise 3 more simple innovations in this design...
@dnendion43009 ай бұрын
This is a gun that believes that form and function can't be compromised. Following an aesthetic form and making it work with some innovation. Ultimately a beautiful gun and hopefully this concept will fall down into the lower-priced market. I really like the hopeful rise of beautiful artistic guns.

So, when you drop it to a hard surface, rear sight plate and grio panels will just come off then? Hopefully it will not discharge😮 Would love to see a drop test for the confirmation of those magnets, the way he pried the grip panels off seemed kinda too easy to me...
@HalfBreedMix9 ай бұрын
If you ever played with quality neodymium magnets, you would know that you have to slide them apart,,,,,,,, because trying to simply pull them apart is WAAAAY harder; and so that's the principle this gun is using. A simple drop which will apply force in basically one direction isn't going to do much,,,,,,,,,, panel will stay on.
@cousinzeke48889 ай бұрын
All the comments talking about dropping it are forgetting it cost ten fucking grand, you aren't going to be dropping it. These obviously aren't meant for that type of use.

I am not sure about this design and how the magnets will will hold up in the long run. Like the pin for the trigger mechanism that might creep out after a long day at the shooting range or even worse at a competition. But I really appreciate that some designers have the courage to invest in "crazy" new ideas. Looking forward to a review of this gun from someone that has actually shot it!

The way I see it: A gun set to solve an engineering challenge that probably doesn't exist, with a solution that probably isn't necessary, for a market that probably doesn't need it, by a man who probably doesn't know what he wants. If a Shadow 2 won't satisfy you as your first gun, there's something wrong with you, not the gun!
