Im new to your channel and just watched this video. This is everything I want in an Oliver. I love the 55 series line and the back and under front axle. Add the fender fuels and you got yourself a NICE tractor, very jealous.

My dad's 1755 blew about 15 years ago now. It did have over 8000 hours on it at the time. Had it rebuilt by a shop that was a oliver/white dealer. They added an oil cooler and built a 20 quart pan for it at the time. They dynoed it at 97 p.t.o. horse when they finished with it. She is still going strong today.
@Oliver66FarmBoy9 жыл бұрын
+Josh Peterson It would be nice to make a 20 Quart Aluminum pan for this one but the front axle carrier is right in the way. The 310 was a good engine, but oil capacity and cooling was their Achilles Heal.

I just got my new tractor started for the first time in 4 years and it's a Oliver 600 with a diesel in it and I put a straight pipe on it but now when I get some money I have to get 3 new tires and a seat and a manifold but it runs and it's go good in the snow with 3 bad tires

Bought a 1066 and a 5488 used. Like, BEAT. so lets not say that work clothes tractors are infallible either, cuz the 1066 had acknowledged engine problems when I bought it. But as soon as I fixed that, I found out the park lock was slipping. Called it quits and sold it only to replace it with a 5488 that turned out needed a overhaul due to an internal coolant leak.
@Oliver66FarmBoy8 жыл бұрын
I didnt say that tractors in their work cloths were infallible, I said with tractors in their work cloths you have a better idea of what your getting. None of them are perfect but its a lot harder to hide farmer fixes without new paint.

Boy that's a sweat looking Oliver we have one of those magic screw drivers rule of thumb is crank it out until the exhaust manifold blows hot red then back off a little bit till just a mild Cherry glow lol,Oliver,s and the earlier white tractor are still the best in my book l know what your all going to say we had a white 2\105 bought brand new with an white 7/18 plow and 24ft fiber shank or field cultivator she pulled those 7 bottoms with ease 4 mile an HR in direct and some of the time in over and that was in the center part of the state in Michigan we kept our soil in good shape lot of manure and green cover crop plow down you have a fine collection something to be proud of one of these days I'm going to find me a 55 with an good old Detroit in her love the sound of those screaming best to you remember to vote your governor out of office!!

AVIAID sells high performance external oil pumps in a wet or dry sump configuration for diesel or alcohol pulling tractors. a external tank and bigger cooler would give you extra oil and better cooling that you need. they make a pump with a extra stage ( or section) to supply oil to a turbo. the best oil systems on the market are built by AVIAID most if not all nascar teams run their pumps and systems.

Great video! I had similar issues when i got my JD4430...shotty repair jobs etc. Ive also learned and been advised on old tractors like that you have to buy them for junk price then you can rebuild and paint to make them good...also had a neighbor years ago had hundreds of old tractors all painted up half barely ran...not exactly sure how that closeout auction ended up but everybody knew the story....the part in your video about having tractor down no time to fix need it now kinda sums up why I have what I have now. Great video keep up the good work. Love seeing the Olivers!
@Oliver66FarmBoy9 жыл бұрын
cowcamp87 They all have their issues at the start but this one was an extremely special case. Since we got all the work done to this one we havent had a lick of trouble with it though. Same with the 1800 and 1600, we got them home and did all the major repairs right off the bat (by the time we got those 2, we knew what issues to look for and knew for the most part what we were getting into right out of the gate). All the stuff we've done to them since have been the little things that we could fix when we got some down time.

You bought one of those, as Dennis Polk calls them, "DuPont restorations". You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig underneath. Buy them with their work clothes on so you know what you got, then make it pretty.

Ok, so did you go back and talk to the guy that sold you the tractor? Our vo-ag teacher back in high school always told us to buy a used tractor "planning" on rebuilding it. I haven't always followed that but I have seen enough to know that it is good counsel. Hopefully, you guys weren't too deep in it. At least now you know that you've got a dependable horse when you need it now. Have duals for it right?

Great video, keep up the good job with your movie productions. You definitely do quality work with all your equipment also. Watching your vids gives me the added incentive to keep my rigs in top shape. I have 7 four digit Olivers, 4-1900's, 1-1850 mfwd, 1-2255 & 1-1800. All of them except the 1850 & 2255 have final drive issues which has led me on a huge chase looking for reasonable bull & bull pinion gears. The 2255 is my favorite, reason be is the 3 speed and power for hay making on the hills. The 1850 is being flipped after some new hyd's. The gear issues are partially Olivers heat treat problems and you wouldn't believe how much water goes down a bad shift stick boot.
@Oliver66FarmBoy9 жыл бұрын
NWpulling10 I wouldnt mind having that 1850! The next tractor I buy is gonna be a MFWD. Ide like to find a 2150 or 2255 for pulling the chisel plow. My 1955 does alright but in our ground 11 shanks is pushing a 2WD tractor to the limit unless you weight the crap out of it and at that point you just start tearing up the drive train. Ide like to have something in the 135-145 HP range so I can go a little deeper and a little faster.

The 55 series was a great tractor minus the motor, there would be thousands more out there still if they left the Perkins or Detroit diesel engine out of the last 50 series. The Waukesha has some issues especially the 1955. Also was not a fan of the under slung front end.
@Oliver66FarmBoy9 жыл бұрын
***** I love the under slung axle for working ground. It turns so short I can almost pivot on one wheel without using the turning brakes.
@dieselman8v9239 жыл бұрын
It does seem to turn sharp but I compared it to the regular front end and it turns no sharper. Personal preference though and a very nice 1955 you have. Have to keep the Oliver's alive.

Corey should move if he wants to rook someone else. Said it had been majored. No sleeves, no mains,warped worn out head. Let's see what is a major, well it isn't new pistons and maybe rods with an old worn out pump. It was anything but majored. No wonder it didn't have any power with the wrong injectors and if it had it would have thrown a rod right out through the block. What I can't figure out is why you would put 1700 injectors in a 1900 tractor.
@joetiller10318 жыл бұрын
Damn you bought a frame and build a tractor on it, how the hell did gravel get in oil pan sounds like Cory was a total crook, if I was your dad I would have made a visit to him.
