With all respect to everyone that bassdrum sounds great with no holes no dampening. Just Well Tuned!

I'm a mixer, not a drummer, but I would LOVE to mix something like this! I think I'd use some very subtle sample augmentation to layer this beautiful natural rumbly thunder with something that has a more defined attack, like a pitched 909 sample... Maybe use something like Trackspacer to clear the rest of the mix for the drum's decay... You've really got me inspired, thank you!

I recommend the Evans MX2 for drums this big. I use a 28" Yamaha bass drum on my kit and the MX2 allows me to accomplish all of that great low rumble but with the ability to customize the dampening effect as needed. I can get great articulation as well as long decay/sustain. I don't stuff the drum and there are no holes in the heads and the thing sounds and plays perfect

Roto Toms in front of the bass drum. They can hang right over the kick. It’ll be perfect.

Best to try to center where the bass drum beater strikes head. A Yamaha bass drum riser, or go down to a 24inch. Priorities!

Longer bass drum beater with the first head so the beater hits more dead center? Less overtone boom. Although I liked it as is.

How long have you been playing with the DW MCD pedal? Are you very happy with it? I tried one once and was very impressed with its feel, but the price is pretty high. I'm still tempted to get one. Oh, and by the way, your playing is very good! Nice touch!
@ArchibaldLigonniereАй бұрын
@@PaulMarangoni Thanks for the compliment! I’m playing the MCD for almost 8 years now. It is an awesome pedal! Even easier to play than the 9000. You may get more “weight” with the 9000, but the MCD has so many options, like the little weight on the beater… Endless adjustments! It can be good for some, annoying for others… 😅 It is hard to make a choice between the 9000 and the MCD…
@PaulMarangoniАй бұрын
@@ArchibaldLigonniere Yes, I would have to agree with you. The 9000 is very nice, but this MCD seems to have an even more responsive and lighter feel. I only tried it once at NAMM a few years ago, but I was blown away. I think it would be much more popular if it wasn't so expensive. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I may just have to take the plunge! 🤣
