Great guitar ? Well it is in the hands of Chris Buck Who would make 2 elastic bands tied to a broom handle sound good . If Gibson had Chris promoting it then maybe it would still be selling today , a feat no other guitar player managed to achieve . Is that the guitar players fault or the guitar`s for not being good enough and not very good generally ? I lean towards the latter .

In my high school band, I had a MM - another guy in the band had the two pickup version, and another band member had the SG-shaped MM. I can't even remember where we got them, but it was before guitars were hoarded and old ones worshipped. I traded mine for a Strat, which didn't suit me at all, and I got the bridge all out of adjustment. I traded that toward an ES 330, which I kept until I got the strange notion that I was finished with electric guitars. I might add that I graduated high school in 1967.

...these aren't so cheap either, especially the vaguely 'Les Paul Junior' one - if it's got the wider neck (at the nut) ...have always like the pick-up they used which is somewhat less 'shrill' than a Stratocaster, lol ...and quite good definition ...somehow the current headstock just doesn't look as nice as the earlier versions ...wouldn't say no to one

My very first guitar was a 1959 3/4 scale with a very crudely installed set of humbuckers off an early 70's Gibson. Quickly outgrew it though. Guitar is gone but those humbuckers are still in use today! Nostalgia drove me to buy a 1963 double pickup model. Not the easiest guitar to play, but it looks cool as hell and will easily outlast me. Thanks for the vid!

When I was 13 I asked my parents for an electric guitar. That Christmas I had a double cut Melody Maker in an alligator skin case under the tree, along with a Gibson tube amp. About 2 years later I needed some money and very stupidly sold the MM and amp for $50. Yeah, I was stupid. I started playing guitar again as an adult, and there hasn’t been a single day I haven’t wished I still had that Melody Maker.
