1. I had no idea this was Marge Simpson’s dress but I love that y’all spotted this 😂😂 My apathy for the Simpsons will be clear from this series and I’ll admit my bias lmao 2. This video is missing a 1997 top movies page, which mentioned Jack Frost and Beauty and The Beast (not Home Alone 3) I’m now realizing I can’t pin to the comment section 😢😂

As a early 00s( I was born in '92) child One Christmas I was gifted a colidoscope and a cash register. I was born 1990; top Christmas gifts were a Playstation (1997) and Gamecube (2001). Not only was it exciting to have our own gaming consoles at home, but that made future gift ideas easier. My passion for video games became a significant part of my identity and friendships, and exposed me to types of music I wouldn’t otherwise hear (I’m now a professional musician with an Honour’s Degree). But I’m grateful for so many good memories and gifts throughout my childhood, even hand-me-downs from my _cool older cousins._

My favorite Christmas memory is putting together the gas station Lego set with my uncle Ricky at my grandmas table in 1999. I was four and he died the next year. It’s the only memory I have with him 🥺 Christmas makes me think of my grandmas house. Green carpet, menthol cigarette smoke, ancient ornaments and dusty recliners
@stevarino1989 Жыл бұрын
That’s so sweet! I miss Christmas at my grandparents house too. My grandpa had a motion activated animatronic singing Santa 😆They also had some old 1970s/80s ornaments and a fake tree and they’d wrap silver garland and lights around the wrought iron banister on the stairs. My grandpa also had this little box where you’d plug the tree lights in and it would sync to MIDI-style sounding Christmas songs 😊 On Christmas morning there would be a huge pile of presents under the tree and we’d all eat a big breakfast. I also used to love baking Christmas cookies in the old kitchen. Yes my grandma smoked as well. I’m really happy we have a bunch of 90s family Christmases on home video.

Some core memories here from Tamagochi to Jon Benet to Y2K. Christmas was epic to me growing up in the 90s. I got my Addy American Girl and loved her and read her books. Some people totally give that doll too much criticism especially as a doll that was based in real research and by a Black creator within American Girl. I appreciate them not overly sanitizing her story. Thankfully they do have more Black dolls though in other time periods. The Santa Clause and The Preachers Wife are still favorites! I also remember the Tickle Me Elmo craziness which was ridiculous and I didn’t get it even as a kid.

One of the best 90's xmas moments for me was I think... '94? It was an El Nino winter, in Canada, which meant it was actually warm enough that snow was melting. It was warm enough for me to use my newly received rollerblades to head over to my grandma's house that year. Of course, that pales in comparison to '90 (or '91, I can't remember) when we got our NES.

Wow! I loved this! You forget the culture FR. Like so much pressure for parents to deliver a good Christmas - how it was such a mark of “success”. Love this holiday edition of your '90s series! What's more '90s than a Christmas special after all? I was born in '87 so I was a total '90s kid. As a diaspora Ukrainian in Canada my family always celebrated two Christmases - the "western" one on December 25th, and then "Ukrainian Christmas" on January 6th/7th. Plus as kids we'd get gifts on the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 19th, so the holiday season was very gift heavy for us. I'd probably say that my top Christmas gift was the Sega Genesis I got in 1994 (along with The Lion King game). Still got it (though it's currently in storage since I've got nowhere to hook it up)! My mom was also a teacher, so most of her students would give her some sort of little Christmas gifts. After school on the last day before break she'd haul all of her gifts into the living room for my sister and I to open. She got LOOOTS of boxes of chocolate, much to our delight.

Me and my friends watch Jingle All the Way every year since it's hyper ridiculous so I'm very happy it was included at the appropriate moment. It's very fun to watch Schwarzenegger do action scenes in the context of crazy Holiday shopping. It's not a work of genius or anything but Phil Hartman and Sinbad really make it hilarious and iconic for me. My mom wanted to get my sister a Barbie Dream House and ended up telling her they'd have to pick it up after Christmas since it was such a sought after item. I think that was the closest my mom came to the insane swarm over a single toy item--and my sister was old enough that she could wait, so mostly remember that it was STILL insane at the mall when we went to pick it up. Also Tickle Me Elmo kept evolving and being the number 1 sought after Christmas toy for a reeeeally long time! He kept advancing with technology and Elmo as a character was so much more popular than he was when I was younger. I'm actually glad we're over this part of consumerist culture purely for everyone's physical safety. I think Black Fridays were always worse but there's a reason an action/comedy movie was made to parody this.

I was a 90s kid, and I was the only kid I knew that had two Playstations- one at my dad's house and one at my mom's house. I had absolutely NO idea that they cost that much until this video. I remember I used to hook the one at my mom's house up to different TVs around the house, and then at my dad's house, we would actually bring it along with a smaller TV set to his office building so I could play on it there as he worked. I have so many fond memories playing Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Parappa the Rapper, and Gran Turismo back in the day. If I had been a child of the 80s, I honestly don't know what I would have done.

My favorite memory of Christmas in the 90s was probably Christmas 1999 Christmas that I was six finding out that Santa got my family so me and my brother and our parents a trip to Disney to be taken that coming June so I’ll be going to Disney World in 2000 which was one of the few Christmases that I can remember that wasn’t bad. I have a complicated relationship with Christmas. I think this Christmas the Christmas out of six was the last Christmas I can when nothing went wrong, and it was a truly merry Christmas past 23 Christmases since not so much hopefully hopefully this coming Monday, Christmas 2023 at the age of 30 or finally have a good one again be more than overdue after 24 years cross your fingers toes, and anything else that can be crossed and send out good process positive vibes through the hope that I finally have a at least semi-decent Christmas for the first time in 24 years because I need it this year more than ever before. I’ll do the same for anybody else who needs it, but yeah my favorite Christmas memory from the 90s is also the last Christmas I can remember that it was a truly merry Christmas at least for me personally
