This is Bloomie, an orphaned baboon who has been rescued by N/ a' an ku se Wildlife Sanctuary. She is the alpha female of the troop she is part of, and loved grooming me during her daily walks. Just a video to show that some of them can actually be rather nice, despite their vicious reputation.

@@josephkanyugi3799 No she doesn't, primates, especially monkeys, groom other monkeys, animals, humans, etc, the same way we cut our fingernails, the way we pop our pimples, the way we bite off dead skin from, e.g. our hand. Monkeys pick at and munch on basically anything that 'comes loose' from a human as the little piece COULD be a bug, its also cool how monkeys bite a humans fingernails so carefully and precisely to get rid of uneven edges and bumps. Lice/fleas is common for monkeys to find on animals while grooming other animals like monkeys or even cats.

Neck is a scary area, one cut into the main artery that goes to your brain, and you are dead, you can't use compression on such a cut to stop it as that then stops the flow also to your brain and you die, neck is the one true dead spot that you have to protect. If it's any other part of your body, you can use pressure bandage and get to hospital, if it's your neck however, it's not possible and you will die unless there is a doctor right there on site.

When they don't find any bugs, they pretend that they do. This is so that the friend they're grooming sees/hears them chewing, and believes that the baboon is providing value to them. All so that the service will be reciprocated.

Probably nothing. It's a social thing monkey's and apes do in groups. I'm sure they do occasionally find stuff, mostly they just pretend to find bugs etc when grooming each other. It's kinda like a look I'm helping you out kinda thing and to keep peace among the group. Funnily enough they do it to humans and other species too lol. It's hardwired in to them, even baby monkeys and apes do it.
