Instead of bottling, we actually second ferment in half gallon jars. This makes it easier to simply pour everyone a glass when it's done and clean our jars and brewing equipment more quickly and easily.
Here are a few of our favorite tools for brewing kombucha in this way. We earn from qualifying purchases:

Depends if you're someone who fears plastic or not. Restaurants use plastic for literally everything.

It’s not great because you can’t sanitize plastic as thoroughly as glass due to the plastic being porous, and in theory if it’s a lower quality plastic the acidity of the kombucha could eat through it. But I think it’s pretty over-exaggerated. Over the past 10 years of booch brewing, I’ve used both and while I prefer glass, if all you have on hand is plastic it’ll be fine

I have been trying to figure out if I can brew a couple of batches sitting next to each other, you answered my question looking at yours🙌🏻 I just know ferments don’t like to be in the same room so I didn’t know about Kombucha

I think that mostly has to do with different ferments because the types of bacteria they have are different, but idrk

I did 18 Days for my first fermentation is that okay? And 7 days second fermentation before putting it in the fridge

Tea is water with tannins from Camellia sinensis leaves. lol tannins are what give tea its color, they are what a scoby needs for food along with sugar.

When moving to second fermentation , do you throw away the rest of the starter tea where you grew the scoby after reserved 1-2 cups for the second fermentation ?

I reserve for the next batch but consume all the kombucha that is not second fermented or anything I don’t reserve with the scoby mother

Could you teach more how to make Kombucha from scratch, step by step; for those of us who never nade it before. I love Kombucha, hate the price @ any grocery store. What material do you need? Where do you get ... Scobie (spelling?)? What is 1st & 2nd ferment? I did not understand the comment about the size of Jar, based on the number of kids you have?! Are you estimating # of jars per child?!? More info please! I just happened to run across your short video. I have never seen anyone teach how to make kombucha before

Believe me when I say dont squeeze the tea bags. First batch I did not do any squeeze and it tasted great. Second batch I forgot not to do so and lo and behold it is slightly bitter. Note to self never squeeze the tea bags 😬

Pure cane is best but if you have to substitute with brown or something it’ll still be fine. Just don’t use like, confectioner’s sugar. 😭
