Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we create a brand new HEALER character on Project Ascension Season 8 - the DARK SURGEON! This is a melee healer that focuses on utilizing rogue abilities and combo points mixed with Priest and Paladin abilities to deliver decent damage and massive heals!
We try out two brand new healer enchants that just came out in Party Recuperate and Holy Hammer Nova. One is a transformation for Recuperation and potentially delivers us a Monk healer archetype and the other delivers us massive Holy Nova synergy as well as a proper reason to use the brand new Light's Hammer spell to devastating effect!

1000 ap would give 900 healing power. 20% of ap from dark surgeon and 25% from ret talent for 45%, which is then doubled by Spirit primary stat to 90%. This is using agi/str gear with spirit primary stat.

@@corentinplay6595 actually super easy to hit by picking up mostly raw AP gear + strength. i've been playing strength CoJ (pre rework) and surgeon for most of s7 and into s8 now, its surprising how much AP you can actually yoink. Rockbiter > earthliving too (EL used to be better but it can't proc off the CoH anymore) due to the raw AP giving you so much hSP. It's weird AF but it definitely works way better than you'd expect. If you can get used to playing with such a low mana pool then you get wayyy more healing out of it.

When I was playing Dark Surgeon it was much stronger to never use Dark Transfusion but use Rupture (lower energy cost than Eviscerate) so you can spam it without needing to invest a lot in Energy Regeneration, because most of the healing was coming from Lesser Circle of Healing (LCoH) and Dark Transfusion dont trigger LCoH. I remember messing around with this RE on the wrath PTR server (in it's original form). I was attempting to do a combination of Dark Surgeon and the one that causes your bleeds to heal (been a long time idr the name). Lots of things have changed since then but I'm glad to see it's actually really good.

I’d agree but he said he despises pets on ascension. There’s a pvp KZbinr called PetJob or something like that, he made a pet build that uses the tentacle eye dog boss from Dire Maul West. It would mind flay and work through LoS and tick for 800 in pvp. Shit was dumb lol

I went agility with my dark surgeon, and he's a BEAST!!! Nothing can easily take me down, and I'm able to solo HUGE mobs of enemies, including multiple Elites. Survivability is SUPERB, with huge burst damage. I'm having a blast with my dark surgeon.

One thing I don't hear many people talking about is having someone bringing demo shout to a group. The amount of damage your tank and group doesn't take with it up is enormous. This might be one of those builds where you can slot in demo shout.

Seeing that you passed Solar Beam hurts me. It is an amazing aoe silence that you can use in M+. The heals were very good and I think what you need is something like a Brilliance Aura because I noticed that in that big Abomination boss fight you were keep getting oomed. Agi healing works, Sheath of Light talent gives 25% extra healing power of your attack power, also Nurturing Instinct gives bonus healing from 30% Agility (+ extra 15% from Mystic Enchants) and with Agility giving you crit by itself, its easier to proc other talents. I have a build on the architect if anyone is interested. -Galil

Healing wave gets pretty crazy with the amount of scaling that can happen at low levels. can also synergize with power word shield: dominant to make a target pretty much unkillable at low levels. Then you can pick up lesser healing wave at higher levels and use the permanent crit when you are spam healing a targeted ally. It's pretty strong combo, but its all casted, so you can be interrupt chained and you become worthless.

This is a good build for M+. A lot of strategies for Challenge Modes back in MoP and all the way even through today on retail, it has always been more worth it for the healer to be able to do DPS in their downtime. Even that little bit of DPS can help speed up the dungeon by a minute or two and racing the clock that can always make a difference, even if its just a small one. The major downside is you need to have a group of people that arent brain dead and actually know not the stand in stuff and do mechanics.

I wonder if Pious Strikes triggered Holy Nova counts for the cooldown reduction on Light's Hammer from Holy Hammer Nova. It probably doesn't but it would be an awesome starting point to build around for a Champion of Justice self healing tank. If not your could go with Holy Retribution which boosts the scaling of Holy Nova with your AP, lowers the healing on it, and makes it generate threat so you could manually spam it while Holy Shock, Judgement, and Hammer of the Righteous were on cooldown. - Xenthalus

I have not been playing in the server for a while but I am kinda curious about idea of autoattack caster. What I mean is using single 1h (dagger/fast sword etc) and swasbuckler that increases attack speed. Then dump stats as much as possible to autoattack speed and spell crit chance. There are enchants that make certain spells to be insta casted from autoattack procs if I remember right. Like Nightfall procin shadow bolt. The idea is to just autoattack as fast as possible and throw bolts etc. Wondering if that can make playable build. I made long time ago Swasbuckler build that focused on autoattacks and as much crit chance as possible. It did really well in single target fights but had no aoe at all.

With how mobile and jumpy you can be with this healer, i've found that Emanating Light and Holy Ground (Consecrate follows you, and heals allies) are a really good combo. Just a free aoe heal that scales surprisingly well and costs fairly little mana. Was also surprised at just how ass Party Recuperate is

this is why i moved to ascension and have moved about 12 other players and they are still playing for the last year. ascension is a game made by gamers. theyre implementing real progressive classes the entire mmo genre. i hope big companies learn from this and mmorpgs are made in such detail moving forward. ascension feels like a REAL game, its opening the door to so much more... kinda like the feeling of when wow and other mmos came at the start of their era. oh yeah and learning how to step cast as a healer will dramatically change your healing for the better.

(This essentially makes combo points bound to the player) Redirect is now no longer possible to roll and has a significantly increased chance to be unrollled in Hand of Fates and Card Swaps. This is because it has been replaced with baseline combo point target swapping functionality.

Ok so what were the chances of you making a new vid with the dark surgeon, a spec i also began to make? And this amazes me, you went full spirit with daggers and it pretty much works! I did mine FULL AP,AGI and idk if it's better or worse than what you made. At least from the feeling of it, it is about be the same performance. And i still lack the earthliving, very unlucky ._.
