A Retrospective on the whole journey getting Banjo Kazooie into Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Going over my own personal desire for Banjo-Kazooie to return to Nintendo and in particular getting them into Smash, The Grinch Leak and the Microsoft Source who said Banjo-Kazooie was in for sure, and the lead up to E3 2019 when Banjo and Kazooie got revealed as one of our DLC Fighter Pass characters.

I found it stupid that sakurai would end revealing the base roster with incineroar. Seriously you're going to end the reveals with a pokemon that nobody was asking for? If that's the case then K rool or the belmonts should of been saved for last. Honestly I find incineroar to be a shit pokemon to play as in smash. His fight style (while unique and nothing wrong with that) is too combo heavy and is frustrating to work with. (Also his AI is a cheap dick next to king dedede's). As for characters like Shadow and Issac (who were well requested by fans and was also part of the leak) Sakurai should of revealed them as assist trophies way earlier before the november direct, everybody wouldn't have been stung as hard if he did that.

Idk why on earth they didn't reveal the Shadow, Isaac, and Skull Kid assists earlier. _Maybe_ they weren't fully functioning, but at that point they should definitely have their animations ready. i'm really disappointed after all this time, Nintendo still doesn't fully know how important fans hold a lot of these fighters. That's the only reason they would casually reveal them right before the game comes out. The mural leak aside, those characters were _still_ speculated by so many people

@@gamejitzu Plus according to a source gaming poll from 2015 it was confirmed that shadow was at the 24 spot on a poll based on who japanese gamers wanted in smash. However since sakurai already planned on Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy, Ryu, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta being smash 4 DLC as well as be part of smash ultimate's roster that was being planned out (which included other past fighters) Shadow would have been higher up. Hell he was at least one of the few top five characters in that list that was third party, behind Geno, Banjo, Jibyanyan, and Arle Nadja. Aside from that though the poll showed that shadow was more requested than chrom, waluigi, sora, ryu, young link, daisy, bomberman, pokemon trainer, and knuckles by japanese gamers. We can only assume that people wanted shadow but it was ignored by sakurai under orders from sega because they hate it when people care about sonic's friends. So that could be why well requested sonic characters like shadow and knuckles were assists and not one of them was playable.

I can 100% stand by thinking the Grinch leak was real at the time. Now that it turned out to be fake everyone who never believed in it makes fun of everyone that did making it seem like we were all too gullible or something like that and it was just overall it was a toxic energy. But now since that's all over and we finally got Banjo in Smash that's all I care about now & I'm still so darn happy about it. It still feels so surreal that he's in,and to celebrate I'm replaying the first game after a very long time for the second time and also listening to the Spiral Mountain remix whenever I get the chance because it's so amazing that I can't get enough of it.

I never believed the Grinch leak, since I felt it was fake from the start just because of how blurry the photo was. It just felt very baity if you get my drift. Personally, I think you genuinely meant well and you never meant to misled anyone. Those people who got angry at you had no right to take it out on you. If anyone's to blame it's that damn leaker. He's the only one who was purposely misleading anyone. Anyway, enough of that. I'm happy for all the Banjo fans who finally got Banjo. ^-^ I just wished people would have the same respect in return for Dragon Quest. Sure, I wanted Sora more than Erdrick, but I'm not going to whine and complain that it's "wah another anime sword fighter wah". I mean really? Many people have pointed out before that we have more brawlers and animal-based fighters than sword wielders. Don't know about magic users, but the only other group I can think of that has a lesser amount is gunners? I think the reason why people mistakenly think there's too many sword fighters is because we had such an over saturation of Fire Emblem characters one after another. Heck, I think Corrin is the worst offender here because he/she was just there to promote Fates. Ever since Hero/Erdrick was revealed some toxic members of the Smash Community had being talking trash about the series on nearly every video relating to them and quite frankly I'm sick of it. I get that not many people in the West heard or played Dragon Quest and sure, it probably won't appeal to everyone on our side of the ocean. But to Japan, Erdrick IS their Banjo--their Geno, a character that they've been asking for so long for. Besides, I've said this many times before and I'll say it again: Dragon Quest literally gave birth to the JRPG genre, even Final Fantasy took inspiration and ideas from DQ and made slight alterations so it would stand out more. Every JRPG that came afterwards took the template made by DQ and evolved the formula over time, but it was that series that paved the way forward. So really, Issac, Sora, Shulk and all the Fire Emblem characters and ever other 'anime sword fighter' from every JRPG ever? They're the copycats here not Erdrick. Yes, it's obvious why they chose now of all times to push Erdrick into the DLC, because of Dragon Quest Builders 2 and DQXI, I've even suspected that Erdrick would have ended up being chosen because SE really wants to push DQ's brand into the West and Smash is one of the best ways to get newcomers to be interested and try out the series for themselves. It worked amazingly well for Fire Emblem as we all know. XD Nevertheless, I have no doubt that even before all this, maybe even as far back as Melee or even N64 days, people in Japan and heck, maybe there are those even the West wanted this character. Just as much as people wanted Banjo or Geno to get into Smash. So all I'm just saying is that it's fine if you're not interested nor care for this character, but there are people out there who love this series very dearly just as much as you cherished your characters. Would you like it if someone talked smack about Geno or Banjo, you should know what its like if you've been subjected to that kind of trash talk, of course you wouldn't like it and what these people are doing makes them hypocrites. Every series and every character deserves to be respected. Smash Brothers has always been about celebrating gaming and video games--not a contest over who's character gets in. Dragon Quest deserves their spot as one of the first pioneers of the gaming industry to revolutionize and create the JRPG genre as we know it today. It deserves to be celebrated and be part of Smash and it deserves to be respected just like every other iconic character of the video game industry. Alright, rant over. Sorry about that. Its been pent up for a while and I really needed to speak out about it. Because this hate really needs to stop. It's not fair to the DQ community in both East and West to be ridiculed like this. I know its not everyone. This is more for the more toxic members of the Smash Community. No amount of salty tears is going to make Nintendo change their mind and remove them. That definitely would not be fair to the fans who had been waiting for these characters and you know it. I've made my peace and accepted that the character I wanted is not going to be and you know what? I can live with that and life goes on. Ahem. Sorry about that, I look forward to your future videos PapaGeno. ^^ Only time will tell if the that Mii costume theory proves right after all. Hopefully that will mean the return of the Geno costume (I know it's not what you guys wanted but as someone who also didn't get their dream character, I sympathize with you.) Anyway, I hear some people can make a very convincing Geno if you make the Miis right. ^-^

I must say I never really wanted Banjo. He was kinda on my list of “I never understood the hype but they still seem like they’d be cool” list. Although, I was very happy to watch people like you, Erik, Aaronitmar, and everyone else who have been asking for this character since Brawl finally get him. Glad you guys finally got your character

I, as someone who never believed the grinch for a second, got really disillusioned with you and a lot of other channels like yours for how fully you all seemed to believe it. I find it funny too how so many people believed in the Grinch leak, then it was shown to be fake by Incineroar with no other non-echo newcomers and practically everyone who was believing it is now like "ah, I was just joshing. Exactly what I'm saying. I 100% believed in it,and I still stand by that. I feel it's okay to admit it especially with how much it had going for it. Everyone who's pretending and saying they didn't believe in it after it turned out to be fake are just afraid of being wrong. The Grinch leak had me hook, line, and sinker, and I'm not ashamed about it at all. Looking back at it, I still can't believe it was faked. The amount of evidence around it and how it well it held up until that last trailer dropped was incredible and a crazy set of circumstances. I would love to see how it was made.

Make sure to try Nuts & Bolts too, it's a great game that does things differently from the two previous games but is still worth playing. It's more of a mix between 3D platforming and vehicle-building, but it's more fun than it sounds, even if it's hated online for being different.

Dick Gumshoe Nuts and bolts was the only banjo game I played and the reason why I enjoyed it was probably because I did not play the other banjo games.
