About the High-Low aspect of fighting games in smash, they kind of implemented it with Ryu's Collarbone Breaker. It's his signature overhead and they emulated that in smash by making it do a ton of damage to Shields.

I would like to point out that Kazuya's reveal definitely deconfirms the "Concert Leak." While I do agree it did lose merit after the Monster Hunter Mii costumes came back, I didn't completely write it off until Challenger Pack 10 was revealed. And with it being Kazuya, it was definitely deconfirmed. If it was true, then Challenger Pack 10 would have been Crash instead. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned at all.

The hunter isnt just one character so it's pretty hard to compare it to heihachi's situation as it's a blank slate rpg thing. However, I do agree a Stories Rider/Ratha character is more likely and I would be super hype. It would be our first dlc super heavy weight and true mount character. :)

I started to think that when Sephiroth was revealed, then Pyra/Mythra appeared and at that point, all the predictions were shit. Really all the predictions are just so wrong, sooo wrong, 99% could say that is X character, and Sakurai reveal that is Z character, it is one that doesn’t have any relation at all with the prediction. Kazuya has moves based upon whether he is crouching or not. Not inputs like Terry or Ryu. Some of his moves incorporate Devil and he does also have a rage mechanic. His stage breaks just like Terry’s stage, but it remains broken instead of instantly becoming a wall again. Some of his attacks should have cool camera animations for 1v1 Also, I was a little surprised Vergeben has completely driven away the idea of his recently leaked fighter, though if that source has gotten other things wrong as well I understand it. I see why they believed it was for e3 too

Some people "came forward" and said that NOA has been kept in the dark this fighter's pass because Nintendo Japan doesn't trust them not to leak things. And even if those people who claim to be insiders are kidding us, it does line up with the fact that we have pretty much had no leaks this entire wave of DLC. The few leaks we have gotten have pretty clearly been people who are very distant from Nintendo itself but just happen to have an inside track to things like marketing. In other words, all of the people we leaned on for base game and some of fighter's pass one have lost all their sources.

28:21 I don't remember if it was stated or just implied, but I believe the reason that Pyra/Myrtha weren't made into a double character with Rex is that they have a much more complex design than the Ice Climbers, and thus are more taxing on the system when you have a bunch of them at once. The Chorus Kids are arguably _less_ complex than Nana and Popo, so I think it's entirely feasible that they could work. Whether they're likely to actually be the final character or not, I can't say. Personally, they're not what I'm hoping for, but who knows?

If true I hope he changed his mind about a Rhythm Heaven character in Smash. I'm not familiar with the sales of the series probably not the biggest, but when searching for the series in like KZbin you get dozens of videos with many even having multiple million views. Which is much more than other first party franchises not yet in smash and even many series that are already in. So I guess even if people haven't played the series yet, know specific characters or don't even realise that it was from a game, that there still exists a large group of people who would indirectly may recognise the series. Also didn't he state in the Terry presentation that it isn't all about being well know and more about being fun to play as. A Rhythm based character would definitely bring something unique and fun to the table

A character that I think has a huge chance of happening as challenger pack 11 is Shantae. Wayfoward we’re pushing for her to get in during Smash 4 DLC and they said that they gave Nintendo images to use before they knew about spirits. Shantae is one of the only base game 3rd party spirits that is not a fighter or assist trophy proving that Nintendo knows how much she is wanted. Rayman is the other character but Ubisoft later got Mii Costumes. I think he is likely too but I believe he would have happened by now unless they are saving him for last. Anyway, Wayfoward started being really quiet about Smash after fighters pass one right around the time Sakurai said he confirmed the characters for fighters pass 2. Also Wayfoward are the ones making the Advanced Wars remake which means they are working with Nintendo on a main line 1st party Nintendo game. Also she is a popular character in the west which we haven’t had since Steve. And if you really want to put Tin Foil hats on her hair and main color associate with her series is purple just like color theory. Nobody has been talking about her so I think there is a high chance of it happening. So that’s why I believe Shantae will be the final character in fighters pass 2. I don’t think we will get another bonus character after the second fighters pass but if we do I think it will be BOTW Zelda.

If anything has taught us about Kazuya, it’s that at the moment (or really if it even matters at this point) is that Mii Costumes from franchises that haven’t been represented with a full playable character (I.e the Tekken series being represented via Heichachi Mii prior to Kazuya, the Monster Hunter Mii Costumes, and even Assassin’s Creed or No More Heroes) do not automatically deconfirm that franchise from getting into Smash at a later date. (Also please let there be a Solaire Mii costume coming along with Kazuya)

Just wanted to speculate and say that, if you go to Vault > Sounds > Music, then scroll down to the bottom, you can see that the last row (right now) has 2 free spaces until it becomes a perfect square, since there will be an obvious spot for Tekken music taken, we can say that there will be one more new franchise coming to smash, this may imply that the chances of a character from the same series (Eggman, BOTW 2 Zelda) might not happen. But hey anything is possible. Another thing I want to speculate is that so far Fighters Pass 2 has no new companies added. (Apart from Steve who has Mojang) So far we got 2 Nintendo Reps, A Microsoft Rep, Square Enix and Bandai Namco, they got a 2nd character in the game, so maybe the last character could be a Capcom, Sega, Atlus or more. My best guess is the Hunter from Monster Hunter, it would definitely square off the music column and it’s another character from the same franchise being Capcom.

I think that what I love most about Kazuya's reveal is that it totally blows all speculation out of the water. I was so genuinely happy to be surprised by a character that I thought was completely dead. While I really hope the last fighter is as hype as can be, as long as it's somebody surprising I think I'll be content. So happy with everything this pass has already given us but here's hoping for a third pass.

Heihachi's Seiyuu passed away right Smash Ultimate came out. Out of respect characters with a inconic voice actors are typically retired in Japan so that's likely why they went for Kaz. Also fun fact Incineroar was his final role.

I personally think that the unused URL could be for Master Hand as a playable fighter for offline modes only as it would make sense for it to be a reward for purchasing both fighters passes. The stage that could come with it could be the Final Destination from Smash 64 as well, finally giving us the ability to play on that rendition of the stage and truly making it the ultimate smash bros experience. The reason it possibly wasnt shown beforehand was because of spoilers as well as to prevent URL speculation for a second fighters pass.

Personally, I think this is going to be very similar to how the first pass ended, it'll end with another character that was unexpected or shall we say 'fell under the radar'? So I don't think it's going to be any hyped up character like Crash, Master Chief, Sora or anything like that. It'll likely be someone who wasn't talked about very much or no one constantly spoke about. I mean let's be honest, just how many of those 'rumours' or everyone's favorite term 'leaks' were right during the second pass? Every-time some leak mentions one of the characters mentioned in the pass, they are proven wrong when the next fighter is announced, it's a pattern I've deduced from just noting how every 'leak supposingly got one character right, it's automatically assumed that they know the next one. I honestly believe they were just very lucky guesses and had no such connection to any sources at all. Now I could be wrong and this is all speculation and suggestion, but I imagine the next one to be announced is going to be like Byleth, an out of the blue choice that no one spammed about. Besides I still believe that no one really knew. The only ones who really know who was going to be in the pass is Sakurai, his inner circle and those they had negotiated their crossovers with. It could still be literally anyone now and it seems pointless to try keep shoe-horning the same characters over and over again. Because for all we know, it could be someone entirely different. Remember the Byleth incident? How everyone thought for sure it was going to be either Crash, Sora or Dante? Setting your expectations up like this will only lead to disappointment. Best to go in with low expectations and expect the worst rather than expect the best.

Kazuya made more sense to me simply because Heihachi had a costume and Kazuya has the Devil Gene, something that lends itself to Smash more than anything Daddy Hachi could bring. That said, my money was actually on Jin. Either way, Tekken is my favorite series, so I'm absolutely excited for this. Monday can't get here fast enough!

I think we know two things about most of our previous reveals. A.) They were considered at one point to be put in base game. B.) They have some kind of figure that Samurai has locked up in his desk. Rhythm Hevean seemed like a good guess to me until I realized they don't have a lot of merchandise for it (at least from the brief amount of looking I did). So... My thought is this: who are the characters that have been considered at one point who have figurines or merchandise to use for reference? This string of thought isn't perfect, but it's my best guess as far as speculation goes.

I don't necessarily think the characters added necessarily need to have figures attached to them prior to their inclusion, I think it just helps when designing the models. We've seen plenty of characters added to Smash who haven't had pre-reveal figures as far as I'm aware. However, since these figures do make designing the models easier, I will mention Mach Rider. Apparently, Sakurai purchased a mech figure back in 2016 as reference for his "current project" which we now know is Smash Ultimate. (This was actually the topic of the first video PapaGenos ever made.) We have no idea idea what this was for, but people have speculated that the rifle that the mech holds was being used as reference for a Mach Rider fighter in Smash. Technically speaking, however, it could have been planned for any character who uses a similar rifle, so idk. It's a pretty good possibility that whoever this planned rifle character is is Challenger Pack 11. However, like I said, it's possible that the only figures that Sakurai had in his drawer were for Kazuya and that the last fighter will be developed without one.

Hey PapaGenos, I think it would be interesting to look at the "leaked DLC List" from May 2019 again, until now it has gotten EVERYTHING right and even with detail like Rex on the list being considered and actually wanted, but they cut him because it was too hard to implement, or Min Min missing from the list, because it wasn't on Sakurais Mind but it was a special Request, plus they have characters like Arthur on the list that no one thought off but Sakurai had those in mind, and now with Heihachi being on that list because Sakurai wanted him since Smash 4 but they then chose Kazuya for reasons they will (probably) tell us tomorrow, this list STILL is 100% accurate.

As much as I feel we'll get a first party character by the end of the fighter pass, I feel like the one character we haven't gotten in smash yet that feels long overdue is a ubisoft representative. It is very odd that after Nintendo of Japan explicitly said they were impressed by Rayman Legends on the Wii U, after we got content in both Smash 4 and Smash Ultimate (in the form of three trophies in 4, several spirits and mii costumes not so long ago in Ultimate), and even more after all these crossovers happened (Starlink and two Mario + Rabbids games); we haven't gotten a character yet. I think it's fair to say that a Ubisoft character seems very likely. And honestly, as much as Rayman would be cool, I'll bet my money on a Rabbid haha.

To the point about Namco waiting until the end, Covid also probably had a large impact on that. Sakurai noted in one of his columns that working with outside developers during the pandemic was very difficult. That would line up with the characters we got in the second pass, actually. We have two first party fighters, the most recent fighter is from the third party working on Smash with Sakurai's team, and the other two fighters were from third parties that were already involved AND happened to be fighters that had been talks from well before the pandemic. I think the last fighter being first party is VERY likely given what we have seen and thinking about that pandemic timeline.

Kazuya's Devil Trigger likely fixed all the problems Sakurai was having with Heihachi, hence the change. A reason he was able to work in Playstation All-Stars was the game using 3 buttons for attacks, as opposed to Smash's 2, thus more options for moves.
