Way back in the day, a friend and I had been playing D&D for a few years, and as we were both also early computer people, we always imagined how cool a D&D video game would be. Shortly after this friend purchased an Apple II+, much to our delight, Wizardry came out. We spend a lot of spare time in the fall of 1981 playing the game together, my job was mostly producing a detailed map. But as it was his computer and his game, by summer '82 he had mastered the thing to an absurd level, going so far as discovering some kind of early text prompt/cheat that gave him what amounted to infinite money. He got so good at the game he could simply count off squares and get to anywhere he wanted to go in minutes. I think he must have finished the game a dozen times or more in the following year. While I don't generally look back at my life, the past, or older video games with nostalgia, this game forms the backbone of a reasonably fond memory. We're still friends all these years later, still sometimes play video games together, a friendship spanning almost 60 years.

Something to mention with physical stats, they don't do anything until you hit 16 in it. Until then it's only useful for class pre-requisites

Wow this looks incredible. Wizardry had such a huge influence on RPGs back in the day and throughout history of RPGs in general.

Also, camping doesn't exist in the maze, camp is just "party menu" where you can cast spells, change your inventory around or the like. Not to be confused with area actions like searching for party members or adding them to the group
