The i5 6600 is still decent. True it's only a 4 core CPU and having more cores and threads in modern games does help but if you currently have an RX 480 8GB and are wanting more fps at 1080p and more horsepower for VR, my recommendation would be to upgrade your GPU first and then upgrade your CPU later.

@WayneM1961 Жыл бұрын
I got An Aorus B450M motherboard as "a bundle" it came with 16GB of basic RAM, a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU and a Nvidia GTX 1660 GPU. The BIOS was actual F40 version quite old. The good customer service people at Gigabytes put me onto an instruction site they made specifically for updating the BIOS and even a link with the correct upgrade version F64. I never knew about Q-flash and just how easy the process was, it was especially reassuring to know the B450M has a second BIOS backup, if something did go wrong apparently the motherboard would boot from its backup giving you a 2nd chance to put the main BIOS back in order. I am upgrading now though, I have 32GB of better, faster RAM (I know 32GB is overkill for gaming which is my main use) I've got a new Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and a Nvidia RTX3060 GPU I'm hoping these will work in harmony well with each other, some say they compliment each other really well, others have said good luck! I'll update you when it's all up and running. Great video by the way easy to follow, a must for any budding computer architect builder.

I’d say its the same as when you first run a pc with a new cpu, just make sure to download the drivers once you’re in

Some of the X370 boards are compatible with 5000 series chips if you update to the correct bios. I just went from a 1600x to a 5600x with no issues, just updated my bios before swapping.

I installed a ryzen 7 to replace my ryzen 3 and the system is running and my razor peripherals turn on, it just isn’t displaying anything on screen. Am I missing something, or do I need to put my old cpu back in and update my bios?

Hi there quick question, I know that a b450 mother board supports the ryzen 5 5600x but does a b450m mother board support the ryzen 5 5600x too?

Wait so do you have to update bios when upgrading the cpu or only upgrade if the pc is not working correctly with new cpu ???
