Hi Scott. A bit off subject but just to thank you for sharing with us all your experiences and wealth of travel knowledge. My daughter has just messaged me to say she has just missed her Eurostar in Paris and they want 350 Euros to rebook today or tomorrow. She is a student with no money! Luckily I remembered your recent Flixbus trip Paris to London. So she's now booked on that this evening for £38.99. You've saved us a fortune. Thank you. Keep up the good work! 😊

Great video, I would definitely have gone to see Old Aberdeen as it’s such a peaceful and beautiful area, had a coffee on the roof top cafe at the art gallery.. outside the city you could have gone to Dunnottar Castle outside Stonehaven and Crathes Castle near Banchory. And perhaps the Gordon Highlanders Museum and nearby Johnston Gardens (a real hidden gem)

Just a wee tip for parking. It's free up at the sea front, just avoid weekends and days when Aberdeen are playing at home. 10 minute walk to Castlegate, near the maritime museum. We don't see the sky very often here but if you come with a waterproof you'll be fine!

At 12:05 your caption states "This reflects how much competition there is." Near empty business premises in the middle of Aberdeen mostly reflect the idiocy of the Councillors who have introduced bus lanes and LEZ low emission zones, which together keep cars out of the centre. There are petitions on the go to persuade the Council to reverse these destructive schemes. Since the banishment of diesel vehicles, I understand that there has been no measurable improvement in air quality.

Glad you enjoyed the trip Scott - the weather often makes all the difference! I've not been to the Duthie Pk in ages, but the old Winter Gdns used to have budgies in the roof boxes & fish in the ponds - budgies are gone & don't know about any fish now. I remember the house house/cactus areas. They also had a rose mound there as Aberdeen used to be the city of roses & Duthie Pk had a large rose mound. Maybe not the time of year for them! Maybe Seaton Pk/Old Abdn worth exploring for another time.

The Treetops Hotel closed in February 2020. A big downside of the internet is little updating, with stuff just left on. Like litter. You should have gone to the Art Gallery, Maritime Museum and Old Aberdeen. There is a big car park at the Trinity Centre where that Travelodge is. You could park for free at the beach or Duthie Park and walk into the city centre. Or catch a bus. But this is local knowledge so some research is needed before visiting anywhere. Not just Tripadvisor. Glad you got good weather. Butteries recommendation: local baker Murdoch Allan make Well Fired butteries and sell them in Asda at the beach. Local croissants and they don’t have butter in them.
@Gazzabhoy3 ай бұрын
Murdoch Allan butteries are the same as any other bakers.......taste like cardboard. If you want a real rowie then go to Truffelos on Regent Quay, they sell proper rowies that I can guarantee you'll love (only available Wed-Fri mornings)

I have to disagree about Aberdeen being a clean city no graffiti etc. did you walk along Union Street blindfolded?! I was in Aberdeen last year, flew up from Gatwick, LNER (1st class) back to London (then high speed from across the road back to Kent!). Highly recommend going to the Maritime Museum, facinating and very local. My wife has a bus pass, but English bus passes are not accepted in Scotland ... had to pay to use the busses 🥵. Went ot the beach, short ride away, looked great but considering it's 600+ miles north from home the water must be freezing! Didn't get to the gardens but will have to make another trip in the future.
