Many years ago way before 'vintage' was applied to fashion, I was given a handbag by a dealer in a flea market because he said that no one would want it. It is from the 50's, in pinky beige lizardskin with a beautiful gold lock in the style of Hermes. It held the card of the lady with her adress in one of Paris' most expensive areas along with the codes to all her doors, safes, bank accounts etc, all long defunct. It also held old money and a note book with adresses that you could tell were ancient because of the phone numbers. I say this because yesterday I came across this bag in a box as I prepare my move to another house and after cleaning and polishing it sits on my kitchen table; NOT the most practical of purses but such beautiful craftsmanship. It has no label or name but back in the day it was often that women would order a bag from a craftsman and often a copy of something grander. I have three 'Kelly' purses made by such craftsmen. I also have a beige 'Birkin' that my best friend bought as a copy in a market and gifted me years ago. A friend saw it and examined it and is convinced it it real, no matter it is useful and came from a dear person so that's more important. I used to it when visiting the Royal lady I used to dress for my boss as having similar accessories to them made them more comfortable, that's how it works.

I have and love this book, so joyous ! I have never been to Tangiers but I once worked in Casablanca and absolutely did NOT like it, found it dirty and I was harassed all the time despite dressing appropriately. The Maroccain people are generally very welcoming and the light there is incredible.

I was hesitant initially about this designer due to the bold colors. I realized he incorporated important art as a reflection of the history of the culture in North Africa as well as the native flowers and foliage. It was a novel experience with brilliant art! Thanks!

@@thetartantopiary Hi Mary , I'm so glad to hear you highly recommend the Teddy handbags that definitely makes me want one soon !! Spring in Indiana comes around in late March early April, however I have noticed buds on trees and signs of daffodils. We did have snow again last night , that sure was a surprise ! The camellias are exquisite Mary. I don’t think that they would survive a mid Missouri winter unfortunately. But boy would I love to plant one of those. I’m thinking by the look of them their fragrance is outstanding. Loved the pink purse. How lucky you are to be able to carry one of those. The book review was quite interesting. It Felt alluring. They were colors textures and items that’s just seems rich and mysterious. Quite interesting.

The book definitely transports us within Tangiers. The delightful local garden walk through your friend's extraordinary garden that showcases the Camilla's and your exceptional historical background of the Camilla's and their role in our own American history is much appreciated. Here in the Golden Isles they are prolific, and very old. I have ten in my own yard ranging from snowy white to pastel pink, to the hot pink and striated ones - each one with varied leaves and stamens. Incredible book Mary. The houses and lifestyles are indeed of an era we shan’t see again in the USA. The colors and combinations were amazing and certainly opened my eyes of possibilities living here in Florida. I live on 3 acres myself as do my neighbors so the peace and quiet is only disturbed by the different birds who chatter around the bird feeders. Beautifully edited video Mary, thank you 💕👏💕👏💕

When my neighbor was telling me about her garden, she mentioned there were more than 200 species of Camellias and over 25,000 cultivars. I was amazed by that.

I read (and my neighbor confirmed) there are over 25,000 cultivars of Camellia. I would hope there are some not appetizing to deer. 🦌🌺

Another interesting book with lovely photography, I'm sure there is quite an influence from France, England and a bit of German mixed into the Morrocan design as all those countries occupied the area over the centuries . A very classic handbag 👜 I like that brand very much. That was such a beautiful garden walk today and the sound of the birds also. I lost my beautiful camilia tree last year to a late ice storm here in north Mississippi, an unusual event so late bit my tree pit up a good fight but couldn't survive, I just can't cut it down as the birds love to land on it to and from the bird feeders so hung some bird houses in it. Take good care until next time.

Spring will be here soon and with a trip to a garden shop you should be able to find another Camellia bush. I love to see their blooms in winter. It gets me through to spring! Thanks for watching. Also- there is a chance your Camellia is still alive and just trying to come back after a severe shock.. They usually tolerate below freezing temps. (down to 10 degrees F)

Funny- I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love the bold colors, patterns and tilework. I'm not usually a fan of orange, but this book made me want to use that color somewhere...maybe a bathroom!

@@thetartantopiary I’ve become a fan of the “West Palm” decor style myself. Scott at CircaWho Furniture (in West Palm Beach FL) does a lot of orange and bold colors. I’m trying to fit some of that style into my English Traditional style myself.
