Wahidaji aais in an interview that she told Dev and Chetan Anand that if film running time was getting long nd they need to cut aome scenes...they told cut my screen time to half but don't cut a single dance performance.And by grace of god they didn't cut either. It was a movie ahead of its time.

This time you've hit jackpot. We had The Guide by R K Narayan as part of school curriculum. Rosie's the oppressed wife, gets a chance to perform at a school function and slowly get famous, while the guy Raju lives off her. Waheeda Rehman is most graceful. Girls back then aspiring to do films were proficient in at least two forms of classical dance. Since the actresses did not have much speaking roles, they emoted through their songs. And I have always said, R K Narayan was worthy of the Nobel Prize.

And what do we say about Waheedaji - one of the best actress from Indian Cinema and not to forget how beautiful she was. One of the rare movie where Waheedaji's classical dance was portrayed. She was a trained Bharatnatyam dancers. One of my all time fav actress from India.

Matthew, I urge you to read the Narayan novel and watch Guide (there is the original Bollywood version and a shortened international version stripped of the amazing songs)

Last many of your videos were on mam Sandhya and one of her best acting was in a movie do aankhen barah haath and there is a Hollywood movie inspired by that movie is dirty dozen . Now this guide movie is a master piece different from Raja Hindustani, only the beginning little bit matches . wahida mam's character was a brothel dancer's daughter who wants her daughter to get married and by giving money to a rich man she does that but wahida loves to dance and he doesn't allows her , fights with her , betrays her . After knowing his betrayal she leaves him with help of dev anand sir , he sets stage shows for her to perform and soon became famous. they both loved each other but soon dev anand starts thinking about money , luxuries, his needs , gambling and many more, she then starts arguing about all telling there was enough money to my ex husband but there was no love but he doesn't understand and she leaves him too , he gets shattered and leaves the house . roaming here and there with empty stomach some circumstances made him people think he is a saint but he knows his own truth , for their faith he continues acting like a saint but for people's faith he does a long fasting so that God will be happy and let it rain and because of his long fasting he soon got famous. Millions of people including wahida came to see him but at last he died . He met with God After death and it's actually raining because of true faith shown in the movie.

Hey Matthew...hope u r doing well? Happy to see u reacting to this song. Firstly, let me tell u that Raja Hindustani is the remake of the hit movie Jab Jab Phool Khile. U also reacted to one song Yeh Sama Sama Hai yeh pyar ka from the same movie. Guide is a masterpiece. The direction, acting, background score, screenplay, dialogues and the mesmerizing songs which are essentially a part of the movie's screenplay everything is just perfect. This movie ends with a spiritual note and ofcourse the climax is quiet emotional. I want u to react to one more song Mo Se Chal kiye Ja and Kya se Kya Ho Gaya. These are two different songs but they follow one after the other. U will definately get the gist of the movie. Here the actor's selfless love is questioned. Please watch the video with both the songs together. Because there are also 2 different videos for both the songs. U have a great week ahead!

Guide is easily one of the 5 best films of Hindi cinema. It's storyline was far ahead of its time. And yes, Vijay Anand's body of work is extraordinary. He was a genius filmmaker and his song picturization has never been bested. By the way,he was Dev Anand's younger brother. One more interesting fact: their eldest brother Chetan Anand,who was also a film🎉 director,is considered the most talented of the three! Try watching "Haqeeqat"...made by him in 1964,it is still the best war movie made in India.

To appreciate the song one has to knoe the context and subtext. She is performing at various places and reaching popularity and it shows her love for her 'GUIDE'. but it's the same guide who guides her out of drudgery and then tries to misguide her, instead loses his own way and life.... eventually to become a vagabond only to be rescued by spirituality

If you have known the Indian culture a little bit, you would know that Hindus worship a lot of Gods and hence they are also known as Pagans. One of the Goddesses that Hindus worship is Saraswati. She is considered to be the Godess of knowledge, arts, culture, speech, education, learning, music, poetry etc. The singer of this song Lata Mangeshkar was revered so highly that she was (still is) considered and revered as incarnation of Saraswati. She is lovingly referred to by many Indians as Maa (mother/saraswati) Saraswati! Some Indians literally worship Lata Mangeshkar!

You're slightly off the mark, to think it's a cliche, regular story. It's set at a time about a dancer woman married to a man who is deeply involved in his own work. It questions the norms of society, marriage, duties of a man, wife, greed, betrayal, love, forbidden love, and a man's It's rather a classic story of a protagonist's journey from nothing to riches, and then downfall and finding spiritual enlightenment. You have to read the novel first then watch the film. This film poetrayed a different time and era when divorce was sinful, and a woman's strife to find her career back after divorce and then again getting betrayed to realizing the tragedy about human characters

This is a old movie song when mostly hindu culture based story telling ,outfit ,Hindi language were used in movie making ,picturisation ,and song writing but after three khans arrive urdufication of bollywood started and they started showing hindu culture in bad light in our movies so most of movies after 1990 u will find more influence of Urdu and Arabic culture and language which is foreign to India As movies made good business sir muslims did monopoly at all levels be actors ,actress ,song writers ,producers ,even director and story telling and characterisation and distribution of film rights were given to muslim sympathisers or muslims and muslims made huge money this was done to cater for audience of middle East and Europe not for Indian audience Hindu culture suffered a set back by bollywood in last 25 to 30 yrs There is a influence of mafia on films in bollywood which promote muslim culture and show hindus in bad light So donot watch Hindi movies from 1990 onwards as from this period influence of muslim writers and scritpt writers ,song writer selectively by force. who show native hindu culture in bad light but promoted muslim culture from Pakistan ,use more Arabic and Urdu words in song and deliberately reduced Hindi and Sanskrit words This had been and agenda of bollywood film industry since 1990 till now When you see review movies you will find this in most of movies after comparing from old to new films
