Hi Jimmy, You chose a video that was iconic in terms of actor, singer, choreographer, set designer, music director. Furthermore it came from a movie that is one of the best movies from all times. "Guide" was based on the novel by the same name written by famous Indian author R.K. Narayan. Although Narayan himself did not like the cinematic adaptation of his novel but for someone who is watching the movie on its own , the movie is a masterpiece in every which way. The subject was taboo on so many fronts in Indian diaspora of 60s that many people advised not to tarnish her image with a role like this one. This is the role of a girl who comes from a dancing background, is married by a historian husband who looks down upon her past, neglects her and expects her to give up her art of dancing and remain as his docile wife while he goes around with other women. She meets the lead actor Raju , who is a guide in a tourist city where her husband has come to explore some ancient caves. She forms a friendship and a bond with Raju. Not only does she confronts her husband and decides to leave him, but also pursue her passion of dancing as an artist with the encouragement of Raju. She becomes a star and then ...... I will leave the rest for you to watch. In 1960s to portray a woman who has not only dumped her abusive husband but is also cohabitating with her lover without marriage in a sympathetic light was practically impossible and any actress was at risk of tarnishing her image in doing such a role. She did the role and it was a smash hit. Not to mention that the lead actor Dev Anand was spectacular in his portrayal of the role which was not one dimensional all goodie goodie hero roles people were accustomed to see at that time. There were shades of a real flawed human being in that role. The music of SD Burman ( father of RD Burman and father in law of Asha Bhosle) was great including two songs in his own voice. All other songs of this movie are worth watching. Also try watching what is called as a snake dance that Waheeda does. It is only music but boy does she dance!!!

One of the best movies ever! Waheeda is a fantastic dancer... graceful and talented actress. All the music in this movie is fantastic especially her snake dance... This movie had everything from being extremely happy to the heartbreak. The song and the picturization of the dance was supposed to be her transformation from being a novice to an expert...gaining popularity with her dancing.... With the help of the guide Dev Anand. 🙂 Now lots of people say Madhuri has great expression but if you look at the older actresses those would be original expressive facial acting that we're used to seeing. If you look at Madhuri's acting... she's learned a lot from the older actresses.

I totally loved this song since my Childhood. And my Fav actress waheeda rehman. She is brilliant actress her dance with expressions like my all time fav Sridevi ma'am.
