OMG all these years of headcannon's, fanfiction's, theories and the very idea of this popping into all of our heads at some point and now it's official cannon! Spike becomes the king! (insert obligatory Elvis here) at least, he could've been. I am on two mindsets on that, on the one hand I can be happier with the outcome, but on the other, I feel like Spike has gone since ernd some type of recognition for all he has done. But I suppose in a way he has. The second that they introduced Ember I could hear the soldiers preparing for a shipping war. Rarity, Ember, Mina, one of the if not all of the CMC, place your bets people! But seriously, anybody who's ever been part of any fandom would see that coming a mile away. Something I find particularly interesting about her character is that it can fall under the tsundere category, Something that has never been done extremely well in American programming. You see both America and Japan have very different character archetypes and sadly (especially in programming for children) America has a tendency to be "what you see is what you get" in its archetypes. Up until now I have never truly seen this character archetype been done well in American programming and I am delighted to see this change of pace. Furthermore, this is also type personality we have not had within the show before. This show has had a pretty good going for having depth to characters that could've easily of been one-dimensional and Ember along with starlight add to this tremendously. her existence also brings up a strange paradox for the series. Anybody who likes a member of the main cast can enjoyed the series easily without any trouble, but, if you gain an attachment to a signed character chances are you may have some level of frustration because this series very rarely gives you any time with a secondary character. I call this "side character syndrome" in a lot of works of fiction having too large of the cast can be harmful because it's very easy to over boarding in the story with characters that have had little to no development and end up with flat archetypes that feel little significance. however the opposite is also true, having too few characters makes the universe seem small and can stifle the story. a third possibility is that you can have a good number of interesting and likable characters with vast potential in development but not taking the opportunity to utilize them. In the case of Trixie, there is a large fan base for her but it's been years since we last seen it episode of her until now. But this is where the paradox comes in. Because they have such likable characters with depth in the sidelines whenever they make an appearance you can guarantee their fans will come out of the woodwork. What this means is that the series has a vast amount of potential to explore. The greatest concern for the fandom is that the series will stay for so long it will go to way of The Simpsons and become unenjoyable, however, in the fandom of enemy there have been series that go up to the thousand episode mark and still have a loyal fan base with interesting characters. Case closed for example. The reason for this is because much like MLP there is not only vast opportunity for standalone episodes but also overreaching story arks. Hence the paradox, the weakness of the series could also become is greatest strength. Throughout multiple cultures there have been dragons and I have noticed a few constants among them. Using this I have managed to separate dragons into the next categories. They are five classes Zilla: dragons of land, they run at intense speed, immensely strong, possess armor like skin, by devouring chunks of rock is a can Transform their flame into a lava like substance, there caws are like diamonds allowing them to tunnel, they lack the ability to fly. Leviathan: Lords of the ocean, nothing is faster or stronger in the water, because of their amphibian nature They also possess immense strength and tough hide second only to zilla, they can swim at Mark speed, survived even some of the deepest parts of the ocean, possess sonar, can illuminate parts of their body, they are capable of cutting a wide variety of materials using a very high-pressure jet of heated water from their mouth, are capable of minimal flight and are capable of going on land. Wyvern: Masters of the sky, nothing fly’s faster or more maneuverable, they possess no front legs but their wings are powerful enough to create gale force winds, they are capable of creating sonic booms at max speed, they also possess a sonar and can utilize it as a weapon either by creating a loud sound which can stun most lifeforms or create a sonic cannon from the mouth. Shogun: employers of the rising Sun, long, scaled, serpentine creatures with four legs, their agility and reflexes are second to none, though they possess little to no winds they are capable of flight and also unlike other dragons who can only produce fire (without the aid of an external source) These are capable of producing high voltage electricity, the recess semiaquatic capabilities, and rumor has it can affect the weather. Imperial: the Jacks of all trades, based off the classic European Dragon (like smog) these are dragons capable of all, but not Masters of, the same ability’s the others possess, strong, capable of flight, capable of swimming, they possess no unique talents, but possess little weakness, the only significant strength they possess is that of adaptability.

More than likely that the dragons that you don't see or probably from a different Clan or tribe or flock of dragons. Alegria migration of some sort of gathering up all the dragon Clans. At least that's how I want to see it. I can also say that the guy who owns the land and new leader of the Dragons is just for that clean itself and Spike comes from said clan of dragons.

Head canon: Lord Torch is his generation's leader. The teen and younger dragons had to have their own leader for their generation, so no adults dragons. Also, Twilight attacking a dragon may have been seen as an act of war.

Think about the possible war that could break out if the Dragon's competition was tampered with by Ponies. A race they clearly hate. Why did only teenage dragons get the call And why so few? We saw how many dragons there were during the migration. Surely there should have been more at the trial. The only explanation I can think of is that only teen dragons can be dragonlord candidates and only a few dragons are born in a generation.

+Patronofdragons I thought about that too when I first saw this. Maybe it's a matter of generation. Since Ember is about the same age as all the other dragons that competed, it may be up to her to lead them into a new age. Also take into account that the older dragons chose not to answer the call of the Dragon Lord or they aren't allowed to compete in this competition since they probably did it already when Ember's father got crowned Lord of Dragons. And finally, the adult dragons might have been in places that prevented them from answering the call and when the Blood Stone was placed in the Gauntlet and everyone stopped glowing no one else could compete for the title

The staff sparked and Ember's eyes did the expandy thing too. Ember has the power. But Spike might still have some of the power, or could still use the staff if Ember lent it to him. He willingly gave up being Dragon Lord. Because he knew he could protect his friends by giving Ember the staff. Don't cheapen Spike's greatest moment of awesome. Well, Spike's greatest moment of awesome that doesn't involve saving a very large number of people.
