A Case For Front Wide Channels In Dolby Atmos Home Theater

It's agreed by most professionals that the gold standard for Dolby Atmos in home theater is 7.1.4 which includes 7 bed (ear level) channels, 4 overhead speakers and at least 1 subwoofer. Atmos in the home is expandable to higher speaker counts and in this video I examine the benefits of adding wide channels. I discuss how some spatial audio music and your favorite streaming shows in Dolby Atmos are actually breaking the 7.1.4 barrier and giving us 9.1.6 mixes which includes the wide channels! I discuss placement options that may work for you IF you can't place the wide channels at ear level via standmount of floorstanding speakers.
