Isolator allows the charging system to charge an engine battery set and an aux set completely separately so no overcharging for either set and allows for the aux set to pull a high amperage it will automatically reduce amps to the main battery side. Common on motorhomes and truck camper set up. Been replaced by dc to dc chargers
@ryanhogan6509 Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a battery isolator, basically the same thing, but looks like it had aerator pumps, that needed to run with truck shut down, this would allow the truck to charge the extra battery’s, but not allow the battery’s to pull down the trucks battery’s..

Dad mainly used SK Wayne. They had a local hardware store outlet and replacing a broken tool was just go to the store and they would exchange on the spot. He bought some Snap On tools because they were thinner. He was not happy with the Snap On replacement because he had to wait until the truck came around and then wait until the truck came back as the tool had to be returned to Snap On for replacement.

@lindenhawthorn4761 Жыл бұрын
I've been saying the same thing, in a shit hits the fan scenario mechanics and welders will be pretty important because we'll have to piece stuff together from junk yards and you're already starting to see that. The only problem will be if you can still get fuel. Yeah that constant cycling/purging is caused by a bad check valve in the dryer usually if there's no bad air leaks anywhere. If a truck comes in that does that I'll usually just go ahead and put one in because it isn't good for the compressor to have to constantly cycle.
@ACatKrom Жыл бұрын
That could be a battery isolator mounted on the fender as well, its used to let the alternator charge multiple batteries, but prevent the load on one battery from discharging any of the others. Used on larger multi engine/multi battery boats all the time. It lets you have one battery for starting, and others for electronics, or pumps etc. You can run the electronics until the battery they are hooked to goes dead, and the starting battery will still be fully charged and ready to start the engine. With the engine running it again charges all the batteries.

The battery isolater uses diodes to isolate a system battery from the start battery . It insures the start battery will be able to start the vehicle if the auxiliary equipment is left on. It will allow both batteries to be charged from alternator. Usually a battery parallel relay is used to get the vehicle started if the start battery dies. The switch for the relay usually marked battery boost is mounted for the drivers convenience .

Howdy from the Northwoods of Minnesota Isolator can be put on your service truck. It's to charge batteries but isolate them from batteries to start truck. So if you run a battery inverter it's separate from truck batteries. My service truck has a power inverter and is hard wired for 110 in service body. So I have a set of batteries to run inverter for 110. Isolator charges inverter batteries but when key off then the inverter batteries are separated from truck batteries.

Hi Warren , looks like you might have a winner there , as far as having enough essential parts to get going on the project, hope you get that inside before the weather changes. And I like your hat, proper cold weather gear, as for snap on reps, if you get a good one your ok, but that stuff has its own kind of clique, or in crowd following, I own the best and all that crap,!-, yes some of their tools are pretty good, but not all of them, and there's other cheaper brands that do the job just as well. When you changed the water pump on your pickup at home, even a real cheap set of tool's would have helped no end, plenty good enough for those times like that. I look forward to your next video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, and the doggies. Stuart Uk.

Battery Isolators eliminate multi-battery drain when two or more battery banks are in a charging system. These function as a check valve between the batteries and the alternator, allowing current to only flow in one direction, from the alternator to the batteries.
