i really admire that soulbrotha is a guy who cares about making good stuff on the internet but also doesn't give a fuckin shit about youtube marketing. the youtube superstars who annoy me the most are basically the exact opposite.

How'd you do the edit where you make each other's icons change size with their voice? I'm imagining you didn't edit it all frame by frame by hand and everything.

i've done similar things in after effects before and it's actually very easy. you just convert the audio into a series of points, and then use that as a controller for your effects. theres a few tutorials online and it involves using a bit of scripting but nothing too complicated
@bobvids
@bobvids 7 жыл бұрын
after effects has the ability to convert audio to keyframes, so you can parent object transforms to audio that way. all i did is: 1. convert soulbrotha's and my audio to keyframes separately 2. pickwhip soulbrotha's and my profile images' scale property to our respective audio keyframes 3. edit the default AE expression as needed to get the desired effect you want. mine ended up being: [100+temp*1.4, 100+temp*1.4] it's actually much simpler than it sounds, and it's a very useful and versatile effect. i used it in "strangle" to get the lights on the robots' chests to blink to the beat of the song, which i did by simply parenting opacity to audio keyframes instead of parenting scale.

So Bob, I have a very important question for you, that is kind of a special question to me. I came to your channel during the days when you made the homecoming LP and I am still under the impression that it is the finest LP/Documentary on KZbin. I understand that trying to carry on production of LPs like that is next to impossible. Your effort in that LP is really crazy. Would you still consider putting out content of that caliber if you had help? And how many people would you need to justify doing this?

So it’s kinda like photography? RAW can be manipulated to a bigger extent more so than a JPEG. Having my photos stolen I know exactly how the fella feels, I’ve given up really trying with photography... seeing a picture of mine with an Instagram filter on it is absolutely heartbreaking. I’m glad he got a bit of a settlement out of it. X

Is that avatar actually him? He’s funny, extremely knowledgeable, and helpful but I kinda don’t like his personality. He comes off kinda rude and snarky to me(I mean he does sound like he's just over it but still). If that's the way he peaks though ok.

Audiophiles don't just listen to vinyl. They also listen to high-quality lossless codecs and various other formats. Being an audiophile is about being a hi-fi enthusiast. It's about enjoying high resolution audio and immersion. It's about experiencing every bit of music or audio recording. I get where he's coming from, but his view of what an audiophile is is somewhat limited and misguided. An audiophile can like simple vinyl on a stereo, or 24/192 sampling and bitrates, or home theater, or even high-quality XLR microphones with high-quality preamps. An audiophile is a hobbyist. Yes, he is right to say an audio professional is not an audiophile. No, he is not right to say an audiophile is a person who likes to do nothing but sit around and listen to vinyl records. Some audiophiles don't even like vinyl. Being an audiophile myself and loving vinyl, home theater, microphones, etc., and also enjoying the immersion high-fidelity equipment can provide, I personally take offense to this.

I don't think he "kept dragging him back into it" it felt like a natural flow of the interview format and they finished off on a note about audio editing without even bringing up the plagiarism thing.

Bob steered the conversation to the Weegee video once, they talked about it and continued with other topics. Not sure how you got "you kept dragging him back to the weegee video" out of that.

I don't like that soulbrothanumbuh3 calls any Personal Use intended tools, "toys". Things that are not commercial tools can still be a great fit. soulbrotha should understand that not everyone is confident enough in their available time, skills or financial situation to invest like it is the total focus of their careers, and even moreso, it leads into "bad carpenters blaming their tools" so to speak.

The purpose of the video way to advise people who were seeking to become professional voice actors. He specifically states at the start of the video that if you just want it as a fun sort of hobby or something on the side, you can somewhat disregard the video. But for anyone who is or wants to be a professional voice actor, the yeti, or any usb mic, is effectively a toy. Also, he does provide alternatives for condenser mics that are far better around the price point. Point being that it’s fine if you can only spend around 100 dollars on a mic, just not a yeti.

Eh calling blue yeti mics toys is pretentious, sure they may not be professional but that doesn't make them a toy, you still can make good videos with them (as bobvids shows)
