If you had access to an airless type sprayer it would work. They are designed to spray thicker material. Great job Brock!!

I used a similar product on my last house. It did exactly as you speculated. It put off replacing the entire roof for 2 years or so.

It is videos like yours that help so many people see how to not only save money and also provides invaluable tips on using the products. Thank you for your time and energy in making this video. I will be doing the same to m roofing he hopes of delaying the expense of a new roof for a couple of years.

I have done the same thing, but used roof coating on my architect 80 shingles. It works well and extends from 15 year shingles to upward of 25+ years.

As you know, the wind and hail in SE Kansas is really hard on roofs. I've seen whole neighborhoods here have most roofs replaced after a big storm. Many of them are claims against homeowners insurance. When it's time to replace yours, I encourage you to look into shingle specifically designed for our harsh weather. When we placed those heavy duty shingles on our home it actually lowered our homeowners insurance premiums.

A little comedic insert to an old Stanley Brothers song (How Far to Little Rock): Q: Why don't you fix your roof? A: 'Cause when it's raining I can't, and when the sun's out it don't leak!

Good morning Brock. Sorry I haven't been around much this weekend so I'm a day late again watching your video. Years ago when my Wife and I were first starting out we owned a mobile home and I used a Henry's product to seal the roof. It came in 5 gal. buckets and you applied it with a brush like the ones that you would apply foundation coating. It worked very well so maybe that brush might work better. As far as replacing your roof, I would never use shingles again. A metal roof is the best way to go. Around our area in the mountains of North Central Pennsylvania the price is comparable to shingles and it has a lifetime warranty. Just thought I'd stick my 2 cents in. God bless and have a wonderful day. Now I'm going to watch todays video. 👍👍🙂

i think u should have tarred under any shingles that you could lift up first before coating it with Henry’s shingle sealer
@terrygoss7229 Жыл бұрын
I seen an area that lifted when you were using the blower did you tar that section down? The coating will add some life to the granules but not solve your biggest issue of lifting singles.

You need a poor boy sprayer, we use them for all sorts of stuff, even painting. Available at any parts store, dirt cheap, a siphon spray blow gun kit. Will spray cleaning fluids, soap and water, paint, anything liquid. If it puts out too much you can put a brass fitting in the bottom of the suction tube with a small diameter hole.

People, under any circumstances do not use that coating product, because it is a complete waste of money, I think, unless one wants to waste that money. The video mentiones that the can says "it extends the life of the roof up to 5 years". I think this is a accurate statement. If the life of the roof is extended by 1 hours, it is still in accord with the statement that "it extends the life of the roof up to 5 years".

Just an idea here I'm all about being transparent and different and it's not that I'm cheap but sometimes when you don't have the money you just got to find another alternative. I am making attempt to use abrasive grit say 60 grit with a stick-on sealant and equally spreading that grit on top of the shingle pretty much renewing the shingle. Has it been done I don't think so Will it work Don't know but we're fixing to try. Then again you know what I'm just going to go and rhino line my whole roof Will it work Don't know we never know until you try it out

@artbyrobot13 ай бұрын
just use fiberglass window screen on roof right over existing shingles and then apply cement mixed with latex paint (black or brown) onto the fiberglass mesh to create a cement roof and do this in just a thin layer. should last decades look beautful and retain the look of tiles since it is drying over the tiles so will have that shape due to unevenness.
@desmetdeАй бұрын
Did you do this? I would love to see it
@artbyrobot1Ай бұрын
@@desmetde it doesn't work in my use case because the deck and frame under the room in my case is so rotten its about to fall down. So trying to salvage mere bad roofing is not possible due to the underlying damage in my case
@terrylutke9 ай бұрын
My guess would be that the product could be thinned for better coverage and spray-ability. Usually water is a compatible thinner for acrylic paint blends/emulsions. For sample thinning don't add much water, a small amount of water might cause viscosity to drop quickly (it's the nature of emulsions).

Seems to be a band aid. It may stop the bleeding temporarily, but if the problem is to deep it will just break back open down the road and cost more to fix then just doing it properly and replacing the problem area on the roof. Just my two cents, but I hope it works out.

@J-Justice66628 күн бұрын
The problem with your sprayer is that the product you're using is simply too thick for the sprayer. Those hand pump sprayers are meant for liquids that are no thicker than water. You just need a sprayer that is higher pressure with more volume at the nozzle. An Electric Paint Sprayer like Wagner makes would probably work very well.... I use mine to do decks and fences and it works great. Volume, pressure, and the spray pattern are all adjustable. Orrrrrrr..... you could thin the product down enough so it will go through the sprayer easier. Then apply more coats. Still... the power sprayer is probably your best bet. A decent one is less than 100 bucks.

Well do you know how old your roof is?? Its hard to tell but I don't think the Shingles were installed correctly or its quality issue. I don't think this product will extend the roof life the way you want. The seal strips underneath are failing. Maybe Sno Coat will do better it adds more weight and thicker. The best time replace a roof is before they start leaking. Start planning now replace ASAP Dont wait 5 years you will be out more money.

Sun, wind, and a shitty shingle ( probably GAF) More than likely, you probably just had a couple nails in the seams , I see it all the time and I fix these leaks regularly for homeowners. If you are a homeowner and you have a similar problem, please call a roofing contractor.. putting a coating like this on your roof will cost you far much more in the long run. Plus, it looks like dog poo poo .
