Hi guys!
I'm currenty in Enontekiö this December for some work. Still adapting to the darkness and the cold, but overall, enjoying the monotony and quiet. Here is a literally chill day in Lapland on one of my rest days. Will be returning to Helsinki soon and I will definitely miss this place :'(

It's so weird, we have lots of similarities. I also moved to a foreign country during covid period, I did a stop in finland, I visited Nuuksio Park. I also used to work out with Chloe Ting videos, I also painted the exact same scene of Chihiro with the lake.

Aurora Borealis is created by space weather, particles from sun hitting the highest levels of the atmosphere. And like other kinds of weather, it can have several forms and intensities. If you are in true darkness, eyes fully adapted, then naked eyes can also see a lot. But like big storms are more rare, so are also big sun activities directing heavy sun wind to earth also more rare.

Yea i would think you have to be quite lucky to experience the perfect conditions for aurora! Nonetheless, i do still think it is one of those experiences you have to have at least once in your life

Hi Adonia! I actually managed to borrow alot of clothes. This huge jacket in the video is from Haglöfs for example! BUT if you are coming to Helsinki (and maybe check other parts of Finland as well), visit a UFF outlet or search for second hand stores in general. They are a great second hand store that stocks by season so if you are only here for a while, just get a warm enough coat without having to pay too much and you'll be able to donate it back too at the end. As for boots, if you do not want to splurge on some heavy duty boots, you can try investing in some removable boot spikes which you can buy in most supermarkets (but try to get them off season if possible because they might be sold out, if not other stores will have them). Something like this www.xxl.fi/kengat/kenkatarvikkeet/nastat/c/140814?sort=relevance I was super scared of the cold too but just remember to layer up, keep your neck warm, get some nice wool gloves (nothing synthethic! I got mine from MUJI hehe) and for home maybe some woolen socks! of course it depends on how far north you are. Helsinki won't be too bad but if you go up to Lapland like me in the dead of winter, you might need something more intense like woolen underclothes (long johns, skiing underwear which I wore). If you are there for holiday, I think alot of destinations should carry some outer clothing for guests. I hope this helps!

I have super oily skin so I think the dry/cold weather helped me break out less than usual! Can't say it will remain this clear when the weather becomes warmer (but thank you nonetheless haha) 🤭

How close you are to Hetta ( the village center) ? If you get further away from villages with streetlights ("light pollution") the northern lights may be more visible. My granny's home is bit south from there, and it used to b quite a good spot, but they added some streetlights there a decade or so ago. Here is a small video recorded close there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/faa5ommHbMqljK8

Hi Ernest thanks for your comment! I am only a 10 minute drive from the village so maybe that's why it's still too bright here. I just watched the video and it looks amazing. Maybe in the future I will get to see more intense aurora lights. But either way, I have been really enjoying the landscapes here nonetheless.
