A Christmas Wish ~ Cold Process Soap Making ~ Present / Gift Box with Marbling and a Big Red BOW DIY

Do you enjoy putting gifts together for the holidays? I sure do! My favorite part of gift giving is choosing the wrapping paper, making the precise creases in the paper and just finishing off with beautiful accents to tie everything together. There's something just so satisfying and fulfilling about this process! I am not a big fan of gift bags, although I do use them in rare cases when I am running out of time. And of course, seeing the delighted smiles on the receiving ends makes everything worthwhile!
With these bars, I wanted to make presents / gift boxes wrapped in sparkly, marbled wrapping paper and finished off with a bright red ribbon bow on top. I love the shimmery gold veining that weaves its way throughout the bars, and the way the gray color allows that red to pop. It'll be so cool to observe the change in the pattern as the soap is used too!
These don't just look pretty, but smell fantastic as well. Scented with a soft, sweet blend of mandarin oranges paired with juicy cranberries, it's sure to brighten your day with this classic holiday fragrance.
How fun is it to be able to watch your gifts being made? Because these totally will make awesome gifts for just anyone in your life that could use a little pampering. Hint, hint!
These will be available at our local Christmas market at Keene Run in Nicholasville, KY on the 5th of December (stop by and say hi!) and a few will be reserved and posted on my website along with the rest of my Christmas collection on December 6th. I think they will go very quickly, so mark your calendars!

Totally would! And yes, the mica and oil drizzles come through great... you just need to plane the surfaces later, as the wire cutters can smear these across your bars a bit.

This looks just like your boxes! I wonder what caused that weird texture at first? These are super cute!

I'm pretty sure it was the fragrance. It goes in smoothly but once it starts setting and is disturbed, it almost gets to a point of ricing but not not quite. I've seen this before with another fragrance. If it was in a bowl, it could be stirred to loosen more and will become smooth again, but that isn't something I could do with sculpting obviously. I guess it's a weird transition stage before solidifying. It works out in the end though!

Thank you! I use it in different ways, depending on what I want to do in the moment. I put this particular batch into smaller, individual cavity molds to give away for sample with orders. Nothing ever goes to waste, though!

That is a controversial topic, but I like the feel it adds to the soap... The lather is super smooth and silky!

You are not having fun if you aren't making a mess hahahaha! So question... was the FO an accelerating one or did the soap just sit to long before running the scrapers through?

The fragrance didn't accelerate as much as it got a ricing-like texture after sitting. I could mix it would loosen and become smooth, but I obviously couldn't do that once I poured my marbled design! It behaved strangely but smells amazing, so I'd most certainly use it again :)
