Pencil Soap Making DIY ~ Back to School ~ Teacher & Student Gift Idea ~ How to Cold Process Tutorial

It's that time of year again... back to school shopping for supplies and outfits, teacher meets and greets, as well excitement and worries about what the new school year will bring.
These pencil shaped soaps are part of my mini Back-to-School collection that would make the perfect gifts for the special teachers and students alike, in your life. They're scented with a wonderful, fruity blend of ripe pineapple, silky orchids and violets, and juicy wild berries!
When do your kids go back to school this year? As a child growing up, our school years always started in September, but this year my kiddos begin NEXT WEEK! I also can't believe that my third will be starting kindergarten. After a year of virtual learning last year, the house sure will seem quite empty once they start. Here's hoping for a normal school year blessed with health and a great, thriving education for all from our little ones to our college students, and all the wonderful teachers out there.

It depends on the design, this one took around 6 hours or so to pour. Planing and beveling takes at least another hour, as I am such a perfectionist about it :)

Go for it! I remember an asian soap maker making one a few years ago, and have always been meaning to try one of my own ever since. I drew out the design with my own twist... kind of wish I had done a black mica line between the yellow and beige layers to make the design more pronounced, but I am very happy with the outcome none-the-less :)

Looks great! Why did you pour lye into the sugar? I’m new to soap making ad curious. What does sugar do in the soap and for the skin?

Sugar boosts lather. You have to dissolve it first in the distilled water, before adding your lye, as it will otherwise just caramelize.

Which Nurture Soap mold do you use in this video? The link takes me to Nurture's main page for molds, but I'm not sure which one is the one that will fit the scrapers. Thank you!

The triple slab is actually from Workshop Heritage, linking it below. The mold I typically use from Nurture for most of my designs is their 4.5 lb basic mold, and I had these stencils sized for it as well, if you'd rather use a single loaf mold. Can you do this if you have melt and pour soap?

You can't really sculpt melt and pour like this, but you can probably make a pencil shaped soap by pouring the colors as layers and then slicing off the top two corners to create a sharp point.
