Exactly. I was told this car had a lot of rust covered with Bondo, and far from original, but it's also proof that it could be fixed. There's a lot of value here in hard to find parts......at least there was.

This is a tragedy. I cannot count how many classics went to scrap in the 70s and 80s. A lot went when scrap steel hit 400 bucks a ton a few years back. Quite a few were hauled away without permission as well. Sad times for the guys that can and do fix them up.

"Cash for Clunkers" was anouther disaster. A LOT of great old cars and trucks were crushed. Many were rusted out and beyond ever running again, but all of them are good for a few parts. A good welder/body man can cut out the rust and weld in a panel so you can never tell it was bad. I'm not that great at it, but even I was able to do that with my 1948 Willys Jeep. A lot of it is the lids from 55 gallon drums. The firewall is an old wheel barrel! This car was worth quite a bit!

@@MuskratOutdoors , cash for clunkers program did not accept cars that were 20 years old/ older,( at the time). many car dealerships stopped taking in such cars/ trucks, due to the time taken to add sodium silicate to the engine, and run it until it locked up. the other problem was the paper work that had to be done, with tires/ batteries removed, so it could be loaded up for scrap. then it took forever to get paid by the federal government. it really was not worth it. I saw many cars/ trucks that were in tip top shape that had low millage on them ,some did manage to make it through the system and was resold. the other big problem was , it caused a huge shortage of used vehicles, and did nothing to stimulate new car sales. when this program ended, new car sales took a deep plunge that lasted a long time. another "OBAMASS" disaster, what a "SCHLEPROCK"!!!!!

Even in bad shape, it would be worth a lot for body parts and things. That little chrome strip in the front that said "Fairlane" is probably worth $300. Anything like that they don't make anymore is valuable. From the looks of things, this was a nice, restorable, classic car.
