As usual, completely brilliant - this is my very favourite series on KZbin and the development of this car over the years has been a joy to watch. I await series production of this model though! A small run of a thousand maybe ! :-)

Happy Canada day! I was in Wakefield, Quebec for Canada Day in the mid 2000's, and I got to see the Snowbirds fly over on their way to buzz Ottawa. That's when the guy next to me said "I hope they are ours." To which I replied, "If not, you're being invaded." His reply was "I can't believe I just said that in front of a Yank". LOL! Beautiful work on the car and the wipers! I always love to see that you've dropped a new video. :)

Hands-down, one of the best projects I’ve encountered on KZbin. Thoroughly enjoying the journey of this little GT6. On a sidenote, there is one in Orlando available right now that is a pretty decent example. An old man has owned it since 1984. It’s pretty rust free if anybody is interested in acquiring a Triumph GT6

What I love about this channel is the straightforward approach you take to making things that look great. No need for CNCs, 3D printing or lasers; often just a hammer and something to shape around. It makes me think that if I could weld, had a lathe, understood engineering and could somehow make room in my garage, I could also do this project. Here's to living vicariously and congrats on the subscriber count that's creeping up!

Crazy expert ability with the angle grinder, you're the KZbin boss as far as that goes, and this is my favourite channel for banter and ingenuity. Keep that walnut dash if you can, and the after market centre section with the additional instruments, but I think you have plans for all of that...

In all my years of owning either my mk4 Spitfire or my Mk3 GT6, (yes I am a sucker for punishment), I never had a problem with the actuation gear of the wipers. Though on the GT6 I did fit 14" wiper blades and shorten the arm by about 1"" for clearance. And that was only because I fitted after market seats which were an inch or two higher. Absolutely loving the rebuild btw. Brings back some very happy memories I must say.
@FanatikBuilds
@FanatikBuilds Ай бұрын
Our parts were toast, so while I'm sure a rebuilt system would have been fine, we didn't have that option short of spending some decent $$! 😊 I'm all about building things anyways though, so this was not only the cheap solution, but also the fun one!.. and the more modern one! (IMO) Cheers man, really glad you enjoy the series and that it brings back memories, hope you'll like what's to come 👍

Loving the progress regardless of speed! deffo a good idea upgrading the stock wipers as they are terrible stock. Nice to see the lathe come into play too, even a small bench lathe like yours can provide an amazing amount of usefulness in a small footprint, especially when space is at a premium. Keep up the good work guys :)

I've had two of these in the Northeast U.S. I wish I still had them, but they just rotted away in the weather. I am outrageously happy to see someone making something of what is an extraordinarily beautiful car that was so poorly made. You have no idea how many times I thought I might die between the cardboard tunnel cover, the rusted exhaust system, and the snow that scraped along the bottom and forced the fumes to enter the car because the ground clearance was so small. Your modifications are awesome.

@damianlindsey6177 Ай бұрын
All cars should be modified. There only needs to be one slow original piece of junk for the museum and then the rest for people who play with them. Stock sucks at best and will always under every circumstance will be worse than a tastefully done custom. The leave classics original people are the same idiots that have them and don't do anything with them besides let them sit and rot. Waste of a car, and idiot owners are just the worst

With every video I am again amazed at the quality of your work. Is it taking FOREVER? Yes. Is it going to be worth it? Absolutely. Your 24+ minute video only captures the highlights of the hours of work you put into those two wiper arms. Some/many/most of us know what it took: grind; test fit; grind some more; test fit; dremel a bit; test fit; shape with the hammer some more; test fit again; etc., etc., over and over, until it looks like what we see in a thirty second clip. You, sir, are a world class patient fabricator!

I keep thinking I ought to say something about... or ask about... whether you have incorporated some mechanism to weight the wipers to the windshield. After all, you are in Canada and I understand you occasionally get a little snow and sleet up there. But what am I thinking?!? You are NOT going to be driving THIS car on snowy/icy roads... this tiny powerhouse of a car with a power-to-weight ratio that's... what?... 2 times that of a Lamborghini? I'm not sure grandma even could drive the car gingerly enough that it would go ANYWHERE on slippery roads. Seriously, if you were planning on driving it in sleet and snow you would ALREADY have engineered spikes for your tires or something. (lol) Great to see another upload. Thanks for sharing this project with us.

There are many good KZbin auto builders, but they normally only shine in one area of expertise, like engine, or driveline or body modifications. What is so great about you and your father, is EVERYTHING that you have done has been top notch!!! More great work and a very nice solution to your wiper blade system. A couple more comments to my previous ones on using the lathe. 1) Get a cut-off blade set (blade and holder) to cut off the parts from the base material. Much cleaner and safer than the hack saw blade. 2) Recommend using the main carriage feed for all cuts parallel to the bed and not using the cross slide. This is a more accurate cut and ensures a parallel cut (if the cross slide is not perfectly parallel to the bed, you will get taper). 3) Consider getting a 4-jaw chuck if one did not come with your lathe. It allows many more options for what you can do on the lathe. 4) Buy a small storage cabinet with lots of bins to store all the small miscellaneous parts, cutters, etc. for your lathe. I bought one made of plastic from Harbor Freight (I believe Princess Auto is your equivalent) that has 12 pull out storage drawers that does the job. I mounted it on the wall near the lathe and that way all needed items are close at hand. 5) Buy a 6" (or 150mm) electronic digital caliper from Princess Auto (If they are like Harbor Freight, they may even give one away with a large enough purchase) to use around the lathe. This will be accurate enough for 99% of your work, should only cost about $5 US, and if you accidentally destroy it, no hard feelings. I have one from Harbor Freight I have used for many years, and it is still accurate when measured with gage blocks. 6) And lastly, paint your chuck key bright yellow or bright orange. This way you have a visual reminder to remove the chuck key before starting the lathe and flinging the key across the room (ask me how I know this).

Wow youvé really put your heart into this solution. It probably wont help, but back in the day I used to convert Spitfires, GT6´s and Heralds to Volkswagon Beatle wiper assemblys. Being that they came cheap from the scrapyard, sat on a sort of chassis that could be hacked to fit more or less anything, also the possibility of positioning the (two-speed) motor way off to the right in the footwell, also being able to use any kind of Bosh design wipers and arms I was allways quite proud of myself ;-)
