Your "filming" techniques (4:59) - transitions, panoramic angle while harvesting or traveling, etc. - are awesome with Ark! You've said it takes a long time to create the vids but the work is noticed and appreciated!

As a solo player who also has experienced the "Hard Crashes" I highly recommend saving manually when doing anything important or tedious. We shouldn't have to but it is what it is... I do this when starting projects, when taming, before, during and after.👍
@bladeofphoenix Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I got into the habit of doing that after having to rebuild my starter boat base three times. Loading the game from the executable file instead of through Steam drastically cut down the number of my crashes, though.

First off, I would never have expected you to play Ark. But your building style is quite refreshing in Ark. I enjoy how you "misuse" the building resources in order to make them more appealing and they work!!

That giant bug is a great mount for carrying things. It can carry most dinos and even pick up structures (vaults, firges, crafting benches, etc). A pain the absolute ass to tame but worth it. However you are nowhere close to ready. you'll need a good Charc, giga, or bronto for the tame and make sure it's something you don't mind losing.

Beavers are good for wood. :) You could also try a Therezenisor. The Tickle Chicken is good for Thatch, fiber, and ok for wood. And a great travel mount.

Just wanted to write the same: For ressource shortage get a beaver or therizino for wood. A doedicurus for stone and an ankylo for metal. They harvest much more ressources out of one tree/stone and they can carry much more.
@Jdogbites Жыл бұрын
For attack dinos, prioritize health, stam and attack. For harvest dino prioritize attack and weight, attack gives more resources when harvesting. You want a min of two argies, one for attack, one for resouce transportation.

FYI Saddles provide an armor bonus to your dinosaurs, which improves with the quality of the item (primitive, ramshackle, journeyman etc..) So any fighting dinosaur should get one even if you don't plan on riding it.

Happy to continue eating the entire countryside for you, boss. As a note, in general, every gatherable resource has a dinosaur associated with it that gathers and carries it with much more efficiency than you. For example: -Ankylosaurus is great for metal, as you have found out -Doedicurus is great for stone -Beavers are pretty good for wood (and their saddle doubles as a smithy!) -Therizinosaurs are good for a variety of resources like fiber, berries, and thatch. Loving the base build

Base is looking great so far, Tem. My only suggestion would be to change out a few wall sections for the variant with a window, particularily on the sides facing the water and the 'front lawn'. Waterside for the amazing view, and the 'front lawn' so that you can keep an eye on the dinos as well as spot any potential threats that have the courage to target a guy with three Rexes.

I cannot stress enough how much you need an Argy, a Doed and a beaver or mammoth. Argy, work horse/killer, Doed = stone, beaver/mammoth = wood. All of these animals have weight reduction for their respected material. You could focus your personal stats elwhere. Argy can carry around anky, Doed and beaver to auto harvest for you getting multiple times the amount you will ever do by hand. Edit for more info, you would have collected all that material less than an hour. Pick up the animal, fly it to the material it harvests and hold still. They will harvest the material on their own, fly to the next node/tree, repeat.

good thing that there might not be something that will threaten your humble base, because thatch and wood wont stop basicly anything from chewing your base up. Yes, all stone looks... rocky... but stone structures are the first material that isnt vulnerable to Dinoattacks, except a few that dont spawn anywhere close to you. But i like your designchoices, most people just slap roofs on the walls with no "rainprotection" like you mentioned. Nothing is better than a nice overhang to make your base look not so "blocky" Btw, dont worry about the clearcuts too much, because foliage will grow back (except around your structures). Seems like you got some chokepoints up your hill there, so it might be a good idea to just "fence" them off with walls and dino gates. You might need some dino gates for taming-structures anyway, if you want to go that route (some people say its cheesing, but for solo its basicly required if you dont want to run around the whole island trying to tame anything).
@Tallinu Жыл бұрын
You want a Doedicurus for stone. Anky is a good for metal harvest. Flint. Can do berries etc. Beaver, Anky and Doedic are three sweet gathering dinos. Therazino is great as well for fiber and other plant crap. Bronto would be a good go to for power gathering berries. Your stone walls are backwards. Wood framing is on the inside. Unless you don't care or like that aesthetic. Good to see your crashing like the rest of us

The building is much improved, but man... my kingdom for a roof cap for different build sizes I have done the same thing with roofs not thinking ahead so many darn times. Something I have wanted since like 2016. Also a half/quarter size roof piece for overhangs. It really is a bit of a pain, though satisfying once completed, to do builds like this still.

Maybe I'm a weirdo but I don't ever really ride rexes. I think of them as only being good for the boss fights for size min/maxing. To ride them you really need to pump a lot of points into stamina which they don't need if you're not riding them. I think you'd really like thylocoleos (bearcats...however it's spelled) because they get really strong when you put levels into them and they can climb walls. Theriznos are pretty ruthless and versatile harvesters (herbivore that can harvest meat and the special attack is a sickle harvest).

So you need an argy asap. Will make your life so much easier. Argys can carry pretty much any medium size dino and smaller. Get a pteranodon. Build a trap near argies and get one in. Your ark life will be so much better. And rexes as a main mount are a bad idea. Stamina is garbage. Better at following and destroying things. I'd recommend a dire bear if you want to go ground.

Yeah... this is not a thing only to ark Ascended, the ark survival evolved had this same issue, this is my recommendation to all ark players out there, if the game crashes, it doesn't save, and if you're playing single player, you lose all your progress. So, if you did a lot of progress, and the game has been running for a while already, it's better to go back to the main menu (that automatically saves) and restart the game, so it doesn't crash and you don't lose your progress.
