I love your videos! I need to take this message to heart. I know I shop more when I’m overwhelmed with my kids and may have less sleep. I find myself endlessly scrolling to zone out and relax but that’s not relaxing at all. Then that adds to a long list of desires. When I finally give in to the desires they’re so disappointing because I’ve already curated a makeup and skincare collection I already enjoy. It’s a never ending cycle. Your video was perfect timing. I think I need to declutter and restart a no buy and truly stick to it. I need to find better relaxing habits that I can do to replace my “shopping research”.

I totally feel you on this! I used to always shop when feeling overwhelmed as well as it was my favourite way to self-soothe, but really it provided an initial burst of enjoyment and excitement but didn’t cure my problems. I’d also feel like there was always something better out there that I was missing out on when really, like you, I know what I like! Thanks so much for watching, Maya! Love chatting with ya 💕

I actually watched this the second I saw it in my feed, but had to come back to comment. I am the same way about baths! I keep trying to like them, but they just kind of stress me out. I end up showering before the bath just so I don't feel like I'm sitting in dirt. But then I feel like I need to shower again once the bath is done to get rid of any soap residue. I always end up more exhausted than I was before it all began. The fact that the term "limbic capitalism" even exists is shocking. And the idea of how shopping is an acceptable form of addiction because it's "constructive" in the sense of building the economy isn't surprising, but it's a little scary. It sounds like you're really finding your groove when it comes to healing your relationship with shopping. It's amazing what burnout can do. ;-) I hope you're managing to find balance in other areas of your life, too. I'm glad to hear that your insomnia is a little better too. Thank you for the reminder that small changes can make a noticeable difference.

Yeah, baths are still a very strange concept to me. It LOOKS like it would be more relaxing than what it actually is. I did take a shower immediately after being in the tub! Yeah, limbic capitalism is so predatory! It’s not surprising but definitely unsettling. I really do feel like I’m *finally* making progress towards “recovering” from this addiction. It makes me look back and wonder what the heck I was thinking for so long! It’s funny how issues that feel so complex often have such simple solutions that can help. Thanks for watching and leaving such great comments, Stephanie! 💕

When you said the excitement poofs into thin air, it made me think of the bubbles in the bath! 😂😮 I’m trying really hard not to beat myself up for my over-purchasing over the past couple of years. I just discovered makeup, and I had to try lots of things to figure out what worked for me and what I like. Now I know, and now I know better. I also had absolutely no sense of how long it would take to use up a skincare or cosmetic product. I guess I thought I would be using up each thing within a few weeks! Again, now I know better and I will not be making the same mistakes in the future!

Poof! 🛁 It’s so true! That’s the trouble when first getting into makeup and skincare, I find. It’s an expensive and tedious journey to getting to find what you ACTUALLY like, and once you do find those things, you’re already kinda hooked on the rush of getting new things - at least, that’s what happened to me! I totally feel you. It’s great you’re aware and are not judging yourself harshly! All we can do is improve. And most of us have definitely been there! 💕

What a beautiful episode, Brittany! I'm definitely guilty of purchasing things just because they make me happy and not because they fit in my life at the time. I do feel like the more I just live life and get off the internet, the more content I am with my life and what I have. The marketing psychology doesn't get to me and I dont want things. I see progress in myself from January 2023 in myself and I definitely see it in you! 💕 The 6 identical lipsticks are very comical and relateable too! ☺💄

So glad you enjoyed it! You're so right about just living life and getting offline. It's a great way to gain perspective and have a bit of a reality check! The online world really is filled with such fantasy, which can be great as an escape but it's also a slippery slope. I'm so happy to hear that you see progress in yourself from a year ago! I feel like we are on this journey together 💕 And I couldn't believe my eyes when editing regarding the nude lipsticks -- all I could do is shake my head!

I agree with everything u mentioned about the shopping addiction. As MUA for CHANEl for so many years, I’ve been privy to so many beautiful products. I’ve used La Mer for 15 years, when I’ve stopped, I always go back because it works for me. Happy to c u paired down ur skincare routine, and I agree. As I’ve gotten older , I realize what makeup, skincare work for me so I don’t fall into the newest product trap anymore. And u become more aware of what makes u feel good and what’s just a waste. Things will never love u back! Stay on course, u got this❤

Hi Yvonne! Thanks so much for your kind words. Yes, I feel like once we know what works for us, there really is not much point venturing outside of that just for the sake of trying something new. Tbh i never took baths, it disgust me, showering and letting water hit my face is my way of relaxing. Btw your face look insanely beautiful in the thumbnail ❤️❤️ and your taste in furniture is amazing, it makes me happy seeing some colorful pieces especially with all these bland white beige houses. I'll try the "out of sight, out of mind" thing and unfollow some pages 🤭

Grad girlies unite! 💕 It was nice to research something that I feel quite passionate about and have years of first-hand experience with. It was like being the researcher and participant at the same time! Baths are a pretty weird concept to me as well. Before the one I filmed for this video, I think I hadn’t been in a bath for years. Steamy showers are definitely where it’s at! I want to try experimenting with shower bombs (I think that’s what they’re called - they release a nice scent in the shower). Thank you! I love that pink chair. I agree that white beige houses are just NOT it. Out of sight and out of mind is crushingly simple but it seems to really work. The harder part is finding a replacement for what fills in that space. Working full time and studying for my grad degree kept me so insanely busy this semester that it was perhaps a blessing in disguise, leaving me without energy to even shop. Always love chatting with you girl! 💕

I was so happy to see another video from you, they always make my day!! I always love hearing your thoughts and it was also so fun seeing your new skincare routine, I definitely can relate to wanting to simplify my routine more and more (also did BR for a while and it was exhausting at times!). Your routine looks so lovely & it's so great that you already know the brands that work for you and know that you can rely on them, I feel like the moment I think a brand is perfect for me it stops working, so right now I'm testing and trying to figure out my skincare routine which is a bit annoying😅. I've mainly been using Agent Nateur & the Pavise sunscreen I think I told you about before, if you like a super simple routine this one is so great in the mornings because I can literally just use that & a mist. Also, congratulations on keeping your shopping addiction under control, I unfortunately, have been going a bit crazy with the shopping lately so this video was very good for me, I loved when you said "I am going to make sure it lasts", it really resonated with me because it's so easy to say "I hope..." because it's like you are leaving the responsibility to someone else, but really one has to remember that you do have a choice and you do have the ability to spend your money in a more conscious way, of course, for some of us it might take a bit of more time and effort but we can do it, you are living proof of that haha. Thank you for sharing, hope you're well!💕 P.S. Your new pink chair looks fabulous!

Hi Natalia! Your comments always make MY day. Love your simple morning routine! My routine is also very simple. Have you ever used Sunday Riley’s Good Genes? I just visited my mum and she uses it, so I tried it and I love it! I’ll likely purchase it when I finish my current bottle of P50. Thank you! Oh trust me, if I can do it, you can definitely do it too! For so long it felt like a part of me that I couldn’t control or have any hold of. It’s wild to think about. The pink chair is so cool, hey? I love seeing it whenever I come home! I hope you’re keeping well, Natalia! Chat soon 💕

I'm so glad you and your mom love it, it'll definitely be on my wishlist now, I also want to try out their eye cream. Yes, I totally agree! The desire to shop can sometimes feel like something completely uncontrollable, I definitely need to apply the "out of sight, out of mind" because that has made me a little bit crazy with my shopping right now😓. But I'm so happy that you've managed to control that and also that the things that you do get (like the chair) or your lamp which is also so beautiful are things that really do bring joy to your day. I seem to only take bathes when necessary (aka achy). The last time was in a deep outdoor tub in the forest but there were actually too many bubbles for me. I started having to scoop them out lol. But it definitely sounds less fun to have them disappear as quickly as the heat in yours! Knotted headbands are the bubble headbands for 2024 🥰. Where is yours from? Love the magnetic spoon on the cleanser. Brilliant. Is it your fav brand, above Augustinus as well? I was just thinking an oil cleanser would be perfect to use with a facial massage tool 😂. Omg my first time using P50 I wiped it across my face and the BURN, holy sh*t lol! Does the La Mer body oil balm leave a silky sheen on your legs? I came across a Nuxe one that does and I love the look& feel, but the scent isn’t for me. Applying hair oil at night sounds fun, will try that too 🤪. One of my biggest dilemmas is the time/energy exchanged for something. Unless it’s truly justified (most of the time it’s not) the cost of time is far greater a sacrifice vs money. And sometimes the realization of the time wasted debating propels me to buying so I can stop thinking about it 😂. Or, more ideally, simply forgetting about it. I wish we didn’t have to reach burnout to have life epiphanies but I’m glad you were able to choose a topic for research that resonated so much to deepen your current life goals 😊. Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences as well. It gives us wonderful bits to reflect on as well for ourselves. Finding our own inner spark is so true and really resonated with me. I also appreciate that you highlighted finding the joy in the smaller moments bc in my similar newfound apathy it has been the smaller things that I find contentment in. And it also explains why I have felt less social - I am seeking the spark of joy w/in first! Another great video as always, can’t wait for the next!! P.S. what will you do with the other skincare goodies in your collection? Use them up intermittently?

Your forest tub experience sounds glorious! I have bubble envy. 😉 I can’t remember the brand of the knotted headband! I got it from a skincare boutique as a way to reach the free shipping threshold at the time. It was just a cheapo one. The magnetic spoon is such a nice design feature! I did enjoy the Augustinus Bader cleansing balm but didn’t feel the need to repurchase it. I love the Furtuna Skin one SO much! Best cleansing balm I’ve tried to date. 😍 The P50 available in the US is much stronger than the versions we have here in Canada. I can just imagine the burn! The La Mer Body Balm leaves such a sexy sheen on your skin! I love it even more than the body cream. It feels like a lovely weekly treatment. I just use a cheaper body lotion on other days now. Always love your comments! 💕

Yes, the time and energy we exchange for a thing has been a huge focal point for me lately! You’re right that it’s a shame in that resentment and burnout are the catalysts that got me there - but I suppose it had to happen eventually! And yeah, decision fatigue is also another big factor that plays in. It’s amazing how much it can weigh on our minds! But I’m also so proud of the progress you have made! We’ve got this 💕

We will find our inner spark. I think we are talking about and reflecting on the right things to get us there. I also feel it takes phases of deep apathy and lowness to reach that point. I actually don’t have much else in my skincare arsenal right now! I have my SPF, a daytime serum that I use as a layer between cleansing and sunscreen, and a serum that I only use as a spot treatment for breakouts. It feels so much better to have a more concise skincare regime finally! I so appreciate your long and thoughtful comments! 💕
