Hey, I love your videos. My wife is from the Monpa tribe. She grew up in the orphanage there. So I try to make a lot of Tibetan food for her since she doesn't really like to eat much of anything else. Just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you post. They're simple follow and always makes my wife happy.

You can make sodium carbonate by heating sodium bicarbonate in a 250-300F oven on a foil lined baking sheet for about an hour, you should lose 1/3 of the total weight. This method is used often for making Japanese ramen noodles at home.

Looks great . Thank you for sharing this recipe of Bhoethuk. Like you said ‘ bhoethok’ is the essential ingredient in making the noodles. Probably the name ‘ Bhoethuk ‘ is derived from the fact that it has ‘ bhoethok ‘ as an ingredient. I use carbon bicarbonate but never baking powder. Thank you again for another traditional dish.

This looks good! I love alkaline noodles. Sodium carbonate can be made by baking sodium bicarbonate, so it is still quite accessible in the west and it is what I use for ramen and Chinese alkaline noodles.
