I finally made it up to the tent for a weekend to do some fishing, mow the grass, relax and remember Max. It was strange not having him there with me. He will be greatly missed.

The hardest part of being a Dog Lover is that God gave them shorter life spans than ours. One of my favorite prayers is, "Please Lord, make me the man that my dog thinks I am". Also, Bless them for the great companions that we KNOW they are.

I just saw this. YT threw it up. You just never know what yt will do with your content once you release it. I know it is way after the fact but the sense of loss when a family member dies can be so overwhelming. I am surprised that you did not find another dog to help you hunt. But you never can replace Max. Wow to have a pet dog for 16 years. That is amazing. I think the longest pet that I ever had was Belle-a Cocker Spaniel. When my ex and I separated she got Belle. She was already 8 years old then. I know she lived at least 10 years because she was still living when I signed the divorce papers in July 2005.

So sorry to hear that Max is gone. I now have my sixth dog in my life and I miss every one of the other five. I really share your grief Joe. It takes me about a year after losing a dog to get to where I want another one. I do think there's another great friend in your future. God speed Max. We love you.
@singleman19868 жыл бұрын
Well said. Me too. About a year to heal. Yesterday, a tenant on the ranch brought in a 6-8 week old Lab/Shep mix that attached itself to me overnite. Now he whines if he can't see me. i'm getting pretty attached myself. I guess the dude is gonna have to accept 'landlord privilege' and give him up......LOL.
@normanmcgill95328 жыл бұрын
Ha! Well that didn't take long. Good for you and for the pup. Bet he will have a great life just like Max did. Hope to see the new pup in a video asap. A lab/ shep mix has to be the makings of a super great dog.
@singleman19868 жыл бұрын
Norm, I think you may have me confused with Joe. I'm just a subscriber/admirer. I could only HOPE to fill Joe's shoes. The pup just filled his belly, (again), and is sleeping under my chair. Gotta get him his first Vet visit for shots and worming in the next few days. He definitely needs a good bath and brushing first tho. He's pretty grungy and has fleas.
@normanmcgill95328 жыл бұрын
Damed if I didn't. Sorry about that. Take a video of him anyway and let's see what the little squirt looks like. Sorry Joe.

No problem. But pics will be a LONG way in MY learning curve future. THIS old graybeard is as computer dumb as they get. I can reply to e-mails and use easy search engines, but 'smartphones' and video cameras might as well be alien technology. Hell, my 4 year old grandson teaches me!.....LOL.
